Howard Highbaugh of Magnolia
Howard W. Highbaugh, age 67, of Magnolia, passed away, Monday, May 18, 2009 at his residence.
He was a member of South Fork Baptist Church, retired from General Electric in Louisville after 34 years, and was an Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Eliza King Highbaugh, a brother, Geralds Highbaugh, and a nephew, J.W. Highbaugh.
He is survived by his wife, Reba Heath Highbaugh, a son, Eric Highbaugh of Magnolia, three grandchildren, Ashley Highbaugh and Kevin Lewis both of Hodgenville, and Jesse Highbaugh of Magnolia, and three brothers, Harlan Highbaugh of Macon, Georgia, Scotty Highbaugh of Sonora, and Mitchell Highbaugh of Upton.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Norm Brock and Rev. Gordon McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8 PM Wednesday and after 9 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
Deward Caven of Magnolia
Deward E. Caven, age 84, of Magnolia, died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
He was a member of the Aetna Grove Baptist Church; was retired from General Electric after thirty years; an Army veteran of World War II where he was a member of the 110th Infantry 28th Division and a purple heart recipient.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Francis and Victoria Goff Caven; two sisters, Gladys Whitlow and Evelyn Vaughn and a brother, Omer "Rooster" Caven.
He is survived by his wife, Viola Peace Caven of Magnolia; two daughters, Joan Perkins and Colleen (Terry) Morrison all of Harrodsburg; a son, Mark Caven of Magnolia; two sisters, Vivian (Winford) Berry of Summersville and Vada (Jack) Saling of Louisville; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, (EDT) Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Peace and Rev. Terry Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Aetna Grove Church Cemetery in Green County.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 PM (EDT), Tuesday and after 9 AM (EDT), Wednesday.
Alma A. Benningfield of Hodgenville
Alma A. Benningfield, age 95, of Hodgenville, passed away, Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
Professing faith in Christ when she was nine years old, she was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Separate Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and directed Christmas and other programs for over 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Clyde F. Benningfield, who died in 1984, her parents, Rev. Charles C. and Maggie Johnson Skaggs, a sister, Vina Alice Skaggs, two brothers, Hugh (Mildred) Skaggs and Sherman (Lilly) Skaggs, and a step-daughter, Marilyn Adkins.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis (Doyt) Perkins of Buffalo, a son, Ronnie (Sherry) Benningfield of Hodgenville, six grandchildren, Brian (Judy) Perkins, Brent (Paula) Perkins, Bethany (Shannon) Bowen, Betsy Kay Perkins, Brittany Benningfield, and Ashley Benningfield, and nine great-grandchildren, Keiren Bowen, Brennan Perkins, Keeahna Bowen, Luke Perkins, Blake Perkins, Tyler Perkins, Kacy Perkins, Bryce Perkins, and Kellen Bowen.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the Pleasant Ridge Separate Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Gardner, Rev. Orville Noe and Rev. Wayne Burton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 12-8 PM Tuesday and after 9 AM Wednesday at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia.
Cassie Marie Goldsmith Dye of Hodgenville
Cassie Marie Goldsmith Dye, age 54, of Hodgenville, passed away, Sunday, January 23, 2011, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Dye; her children, Sherry (Steve) Marion of Louisville, Beth (Brad) Slayton of Lexington, Debra Moseley of Shepherdsville and James H. (Tiffany) Dye of Hodgenville; her parents, Gobel and Lucille Goldsmith of Jonesville; six grandchildren, Emily Marion, Dalton Moseley, Brittany Slayton, Bridget Slayton, Dylan Dye and Dakota Dye; her siblings, Marvin Goldsmith and Diane Willis both of Magnolia, Freda Goldsmith of Hodgenville and Rodney Goldsmith of Glasgow; her sister-in-law, Gail Johnson; her brother-in-law, Jerry Dye and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Bro. Don Kennedy, Pastor of LaRue Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 PM, Tuesday, 10 AM to 9 PM, Wednesday and after 10 AM, Thursday at the funeral home.
Elsie Lee Nunn Kidd of Canmer
Elsie Lee Nunn Kidd, age 94 years, of Canmer, passed away, Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Caverna Memorial Hospital in Horse Cave.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church in Munfordville since 1929, a former factory worker, farmer, and a very good cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Elbert Kidd, two grandchildren, Dante Hatcher and Jessica Hatcher, her parents, William Washington Nunn and Lillie Pearl Long Nunn Druen, five sisters, and two brothers.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Dean (Kenneth) Thompson, Willis Dean Houk, and Virginia Kay (Ricky) Robertson all of Munfordville, two sons, Carroll Leon (Annette) Kidd of Linwood, and Kenneth Melvin (Donna) Kidd of Elizabethtown, 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM (EST) Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with the Rev. Darrell Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in the Timberlake Cemetery in Munfordville.
Visitation will be 3-8 PM (EST) Thursday, and after 8:30 AM (EST) Friday at the funeral home.
Robert Wells of Hodgenville
Robert Walton Wells, age 92, of Hodgenville, passed away, Saturday, January 8, 2011, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was retired from Ford Motor Company, a lifelong farmer and a life member of the Kentucky Cutting Horse Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Robert and Martha Jane Roten Wells and twelve brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his brother, Lawrence Wells of Buffalo and many nieces and nephews including his caregiver, Wanda Beauchamp.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Bro. Carlton Puryear officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 PM, Monday and after 10 AM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
Thomas Aaron "A" Price of Linwood
Thomas Aaron "A" Price, age 76 years, of Linwood, passed away, Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the Caverna Memorial Hospital in Horse Cave.
He was the owner/operator of Price's Used Car Sales in Linwood for several years, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sonnie and Tempest Pruitt Price, and a brother, Terrill Price.
He is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Joyce Price, three daughters, Patty (Bill) Bernitt of Indiana, Diana (Tony) Lugo-Santiago of Elizabethtown, and Rita Price of Louisville, three sons, Big Tommy Price of Linwood, David (Jennifer) Price of Jackson, and Lil' Tommy (Mandy) Price of Columbia, eight grandchildren, Nicky, Matt, Mandy, Seth, Elijah, Aaron, Jachobi, and Jayden, five step-grandchildren, Aaron, Jessie, Timmy, Joslyn, and Keri, two great-grandchildren, a niece, and four nephews.
Cremation was chosen. There will be a memorial service held at a later date. Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia is in charge of the arrangements.
Millard "Pap" Norman of Magnolia
Millard "Pap" Norman, age 76, of Magnolia, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011, at his residence.
He is survived by eight daughters, Joyce (Donnie Gray) Hays, Patricia (Darrell) King, Tammy Reimer, Debbie Norman, Jennifer (David) McCracken and Glynna Renee (Marvin) Ingram all of Jackson Co., Connie Norman of Elizabethtown and Brenda (Rick Reece) Norman of Beattyville; six sons, Bill (Brenda) Norman of Magnolia, Marcus Norman, Anthony (Dana) Norman and Christopher (Alma) Anderson all of Jackson Co., Steven Ray (Shelly) Norman and David Norman both of Linwood; thirty-two grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with burial to follow in the Roanoke Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM, Tuesday and after 9 AM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
