Jessie Ruth Hunt of Magnolia
Jessie Ruth Smith Hunt, 92, of Magnolia, KY, died Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Jessie Ruth was born in Cane Valley, Kentucky and lived most of her adult life in Magnolia Kentucky, where she taught the fifth grade for over thirty years teaching two generations of people throughout LaRue County. When with her in her later years you would see her being approached by young and old and being praised as a teacher and friend.
Jessie Ruth was a member of the Magnolia Cumberland Presbyterian Church and taught an adult class for many years. Some of the adults have told of having her for school six days a week and laughed at the joy of it.
She was a wonderful artist and worked with the children, and painted scenes and backgrounds for plays and activities both at the Church and the school.
During the recent Thanksgiving holidays, she enjoyed both Thanksgiving and Christmas festivities with her family which included two of her children, her daughter in law (wife of her youngest son who died eight years ago), and three grandchildren, their spouses and a great grandchild, who was the light of her day. She kept the latest picture of Ella, her great grandchild on her kitchen table right in front of her while she ate and it always caused her to grin.
Her surviving family which were visiting with her Thanksgiving were Jane Hunt, daughter-in-law; children Don and Steve Hunt and Steve's wife Wanda ; grandchildren David Hunt with wife Regina, Daniel Hunt with wife Megan, and Christina Hunt with child Ella.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Stephens Hunt, their youngest son, Larry Neal Hunt, and her parents, T. I. and Lula Bell Smith.
In her last hours she praised Ella, told us how she didn't want to leave Don and Steve, and lamented that she wasn't going to get to paint as she had received an oil paint set for her Christmas gift from the family drawing.
The funeral is at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home, at 1300 (one PM) Thursday, December 11, at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 10, 1500 (three PM) to 2000 (eight PM) at the funeral home, and Thursday 0900 (nine AM) to 1300 (one PM).
The sadness of losing her is overcome with the joy of knowing that she has gone to join her God through Jesus, her Savior.
