Ruth Shipp Milby of Magnolia
Ruth Shipp Milby, age 92, of Magnolia, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at her residence.
She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Magnolia Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Milby; her parents, Edward Thurman and Esther Puckett Shipp, a sister, Kathleen Allen, and a niece, Beverly Smith.
She is survived by a niece, Sharon (James) Carroll of Magnolia, a great-niece and caregiver, Brittany (Charles) Whitmer of Buffalo, a great-nephew, Jonathan Jones of Hopkinsville, and a great-great-niece and caregiver, Katie Whitmer of Buffalo.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, January 31, 2015, at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home until time for services.
Dorothy "Chris" Talley Meers of Hodgenville
Dorothy "Chris" Talley Meers, age 94 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Monday, September 28, 2015 at her residence.
She was a member of Three Forks Bacon Creek Baptist Church in Hammonsville, retired bookkeeper for the Hodgenville Paving Company and the Lincoln Trail Mobile Home Park, former supervisor for Nationwide Uniform, Inc., an avid band booster, an avid gardener, and a wonderful cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arleigh Ray Meers, a daughter, Peggy Sue Meers, her parents, William Colby and Nellie Mae Crouch Talley, three sisters, Maeola Close, Edna Ford, and Beulah Talley, and three brothers, Johnny Talley, Herman Talley, and William Junior Talley.
She is survived by a son, Donald R. (Mary) Meers of Hodgenville, two granddaughters, Elizabeth (Ted) Kirkland and Heather (Dan) Asher both of Hodgenville, three great-grandchildren, Andrea Vasquez, Hunter Kirkland, and Noah Kirkland, and a great-great-granddaughter, Olivia.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with the Rev. Roger McGuffin and Rev. Gordon McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.
Visitation will be 11 AM to 8 PM Thursday, and after 9 AM Friday at the funeral home.
Hugh Shelton of Mt. Sherman
Hugh Shelton, age 84, of Mt. Sherman, passed away Friday, November 7, 2014, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was a member of the Christadelphian Ecclesia in Mt. Sherman and a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rube Granville and Hattie Felkins Shelton.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maureen Burd Shelton; a daughter, Carol Shelton; a son David (Donna) Shelton all of Mt. Sherman; two sisters, Irene Mullins of Albany and Faye Ferrill of Paris and a granddaughter, Brittany Shelton of Mt. Sherman.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM (ET), Monday, November 10, 2014, at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Bro. Terry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 PM (ET), Sunday and after 9AM (ET), Monday at the funeral home.
Hazel Spradlin Denham of Hodgenville
Hazel Spradlin Denham, age 94 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
She was born December 28, 1920 to the late John and Corilda Spradlin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lansford Denham, a sister, Mamie Spradlin, and two brothers, Cecil and Elmer Spradlin.
She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Hodgenville. She lived her childhood and early adulthood in Barren County, where she met and married
the love of her life, Lansford Denham. She moved to Hodgenville in 1943 and started working in the Powder Puff Beauty Shop, which she later purchased. Altogether, she worked as a beautician for 70 years before retiring. She was kind hearted and a friend to everyone.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Creed Denham, a niece, Arlene (Danny) Vincent, two nephews, Harold (Sharon) Denham and Terry (Patsy) Denham, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. George Smith and Dr. Paul Richey officiating. Burial will follow in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8 PM Tuesday, and after 9 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Marguerite Robinson of Hodgenville, formerly of Connecticut
Marguerite Blanche Handel Robinson, age 94 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the Elizabethtown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
The native of Oakville, Connecticut was retired from Ingersoll Rand in Thomaston, Connecticut, a loving mother and wife, a wonderful baker and cook, a homemaker, a Protestant, and an amateur meteorologist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard James Robinson, Sr., two sons, Bernard James Robinson, Jr. and Paul B. Robinson, her parents, Harry and Eva Poulin Handel, a sister, Florence Cable, and a brother, Harry Handel, Jr.; a son-in-law, Joseph Mazulaitis.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy Mazulaitis of Hodgenville, three sons, Richard (Dani) Robinson of North Carolina, David (Leeanne) Robinson of Muldraugh and Allan (Nila) Robinson of Waterbury, Connecticut, two special grandchildren, Linda (Alan) Ladd and Michael Mazulaitis, all of Connecticut and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Marguerite's wishes, her body was cremated. Burial of her ashes will be in Evergreen-Watertown Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 PM Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.
Isaac Parker Whitlock of Mt. Sherman
Isaac Parker Whitlock, infant son of Travis and Elizabeth Mather Whitlock, of Mt. Sherman, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at the Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Loren Whitlock and his grandparents, Steve and Peggy Mather and Berny and Carolyn Whitlock all of Hodgenville.
Graveside services will be held 3 PM Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery in Buffalo with Rev. Shannon McCubbins officiating.
Rheta Idell Davis of Lexington, formerly of LaRue County
Rheta Idell Davis, age 79, of Lexington, formerly of LaRue County, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the Lexington Country Place.
She was a bookkeeper/controller for many entities and finished her career at Hurricane Hall Stud in Lexington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis Bomar and Eva Ozella Cruse Heath, and a brother, Donque Heath.
She is survived by a sister, Susan Johnston of Lexington; a brother, Pat (Beverly) Heath of Hodgenville; a niece, Donna (Steve) Johnson and three nephews, Monte (Shawn) Hazlewood, Jarrod (Missy) Heath and Jason (Tiffany) Heath.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Magnolia Cemetery with Monte Hazlewood officiating.

Bonnetta Gardner Ard of Upton
Bonnetta Gardner Ard, age 75 years, of Upton, passed away, Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
She was a homemaker and farmer, and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Mt. Sherman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Thomas and Carrie Belle Talley Gardner, a sister, Frances Ragland, a brother, Wilburn "Shorty" Gardner, and two half-brothers, Eugene Gardner and Albert Gardner.
She is survived by her husband, of 58 years, Gordon Ard, a daughter, Reba (Wayne) Doyle of Upton, a grandson, Chris (Lacey) Doyle of Upton, a great-grandson, William DeWayne Doyle, a sister, Margaret Louise Devore of Louisville, and two brothers, Elbert Lee (Ethel) Gardner of Louisville, and Archie (Katherine) Gardner of Hodgenville.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM (EDT) Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Shannon McCubbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Hammonsville Cemetery.
