Irene Druien Arnette of Hodgenville

Irene Druien Arnette, age 98, of Hodgenville, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.

She was a retired teacher for LaRue County Junior High School; a member of First Baptist Church of Hodgenville and Young at Heart at First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow H. Arnette; her parents, Rev. David L. and Mary Lamkin Druien; her twin sister, Orene Druien Tabb; her step-mother, Ida Shaw Druien and two half-sisters, Mary Katherine Kirtley and Barbara Jean Deener.

She is survived by a son, James (Barbara) Arnette of Louisville; three grandchildren, Tracy Saunders, Dr. Whitney Jamie and Drew (Christi) Arnette, all of Louisville; two step-grandchildren, Ken (Rebecca) Lininger of Cypress, TX and Valerie Gerding of Louisville; a special niece, Janice Bowen of Magnolia; eight great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, April 24, 2015, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Dr. Paul Richey officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery.

Visitation begins after 11 AM, Friday at the funeral home.

Mary B. "Penny" Ovesen of Magnolia

Mary B. "Penny" Ovesen, age 94 years, of Magnolia, passed away, Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.

She was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church, former member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a retired military intelligence agent after a stellar 30 year career, having served in Ft. Knox, Lexington, Albany, New York, and Dover, New Jersey. Upon her retirement in 1980, Penny moved back to her native LaRue County. She was a proud volunteer at Hardin Memorial Hospital, the LaRue County Public Library, and was a charter member and the first director of the Sunrise Manor Volunteers. She was also a member of the Lincoln Days Celebration, Inc. and the Methodist Women's Group.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Logan LaRue Ovesen, a son, John Michael "Mike" Ovesen, her parents, Ernest and Clara Tucker Pennington, and her step-mother, Edna Taylor Pennington.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Kathy Sprowls Ovesen of Magnolia, six grandchildren, Darrell and Dana Sprowles of Magnolia, Rob Ovesen of Baltimore, Maryland, Roger (Theresa) Ovesen of Elizabethtown, Dana (Paul) Buchner of Bowling Green, and Dawn Michelle Ovesen of Scottsville, a special friend, Gina Hawke of Upton, eight great-grandchildren, Tara, Cole, James, John, Peter, Ashton, Jake, and Moriah, and a great-great-grandchild, Heath.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Gordon McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Saturday, and after 9 AM Sunday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the LaRue County Public Library 201 S. Lincoln Blvd. Hodgenville, KY 42748 or Friends of the LaRue County Public Library, in care of Lynn Claycomb, 101 Mather Rd. Hodgenville, KY 42748.

Wanda Jane Dever of Hodgenville

Wanda Jane Dever, age 62, of Hodgenville, passed away Saturday morning, September 5, 2015, at her residence.

She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother.

She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Behringer: a son, Jeremy Cundiff; her parents, Harlis and Bessie LaFollette; six grandchildren, Britney (Matthew), Ethan, Tyler, Tanner, Macie and Kaylee; six siblings, Charlie (Vicki) LaFollette, Brenda Ford, Wilma (Johnny) Gribble, David (Sandra) LaFollette, Dennis (Paula) LaFollette and Michael (Linda) LaFollette and two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Vanna.

Funeral services will be held at 7 PM, Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Cremation will follow.

Visitation begins after 12 noon, Tuesday at the funeral home.

Morris William Arnett of Elizabethtown

Morris William Arnett, age 90 years, of Elizabethtown, went Home to be with Jesus, on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was retired from Scotty's Contracting & Paving, and was a member of the Family Worship Center in Hodgenville, where he served on the board, and also as an usher. In his retirement years, he was instrumental in the jail ministry in LaRue County for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Frances Powers Arnett, two sisters, Juanita Mahoney and Eula Mae Warren, a brother, Richard Arnett, two grandchildren, Jennifer Arnett and Alex Pearman, four step-sons, James Powers, Charles Powers, David Powers, and Ronnie Powers, and three great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Arnett, three daughters, Judy (John) Allen of Scottsburg, Indiana, Pat (Jacob) Pearman and Dotty (Lee) Williams both of Radcliff, two sons, Leonard (Brenda) Arnett and Larry Arnett both of Rineyville, two step-daughters, Rosie Powers and Wanda Locke both of Hodgenville, three step-sons, Randy Powers and Hilbert Powers both of Elizabethtown, and Frankie (Kathy) Powers of Glasgow, 8 grandchildren, 20 step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 24 step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, September 7, 2015 at the Family Worship Center with Pastor Mark Knight, Rev. Lee Williams, and Rev. Jacob Pearman officiating. Burial will follow the North Hardin Memorial Gardens in Radcliff.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Sunday at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville, and after 11 AM Monday at the church until time for services.

Randall William Gardner of Louisville, formerly of Hodgenville

Randall William "Randy" Gardner, age 58 years, of Louisville, formerly of Hodgenville, passed away, Friday, September 4, 2015 at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville.

He was a member of Union Christian Church, an employee of Gardner Used Cars in Louisville, an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and an avid University of Kentucky Wildcat fan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harrison William "Shorty" Gardner.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Gardner of New Haven, a daughter, Tiffany Lynn Gardner of Louisville, a step-son, Josh Rodgers of Louisville, two sisters, Glenda (Billy) Smith of Elizabethtown and Leasa (Jodie) Wayne of Lebanon, three grandchildren, Heavenly, Jake, and Lennox, a step-grandchild, Chloe, his special companion, Renee Smith of Bardstown, special aunts, Elizabeth (Ray) Gardner and Mildred Martin, special friend, Steve Jones, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, September 7, 2015 at the Union Christian Church with Bro. Steve Campbell and Bro. Sid Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be 11 AM until 8 PM Sunday at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville, and after 10 AM Monday at the church until time for services.

Robert B. Drury of Hodgenville

Robert B. Drury, age 78, of Hodgenville, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

He retired from Gates Rubber Co. and was a Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Celestin and Pricilla Bickett Drury and two brothers, Donald Shofner and Pat Shofner.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Fultz Drury; two daughters, Lola (Bobby) Best of Stephensburg and Jennifer (Kerry) Kuerzi of Hodgenville; five grandchildren, James R. Best, Skylar Kuerzi, Jesse Kuerzi, Jeffrey Best and Lisa Luken; two sisters, Frances (Johnny) Simpson of Raywick and Ann (Buddy) Campbell of Lebanon; two brothers, William (Faye) Drury of Hodgenville and Mikey (Shirley) Drury of Campbellsville and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Rev. Dan Flanagan officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Spring Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM, Tuesday and after 9 AM, Wednesday at the funeral home.

Iola Morgan Gardner of Hodgenville

Iola Morgan Gardner, age 81 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Sunday, August 23, 2015 at her residence.

She was a member of Lincoln Memorial Baptist Church in Hodgenville, and retired from Crucible Magnetics in Elizabethtown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Gardner, a daughter, Brenda Whitfield, her parents, Will and Hazel Perkins Morgan, a brother, William Alford Morgan, and a granddaughter, Lourinda Cahill.

She is survived by a son, Alton Gardner of Sellersburg, Indiana, five grandchildren, Janet Willis Sellier of Marlton, New Jersey, Brian Gardner of Louisville, Jeremy Gardner of Irvington, Paul Cahill of Vine Grove, and Mattie Cahill of Jeffersonville, Indiana, 19 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 28, 2015 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Tom Downey officiating. Burial will follow in the Lincoln Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be 12 noon to 8 PM Thursday, and after 9 AM Friday at the funeral home.
