Oris Bright Vessels of Buffalo
Oris Bright Vessels, the first born child of the late Robert and Bertie Jane Dorsey Bright passed from this life Sunday, August 16, 2015. She was born in the Wabash area of Hart County on February 23, 1920; the year women were granted the right to vote. She was saved and baptized as a young girl at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Hart County.
Mrs. Vessels worked as a housekeeper, cook, owned the Buffalo Cafe in the early 1960's, and retired from Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in 1983 after 14 years of service. She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vessels was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Robert Vessels; five brothers, Henry, Leslie, Leonard, Johnny, and Harvey "Bill" Bright; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Vessels.
She is survived by her sister, Minnie Virginia Bright of Elizabethtown; her daughter, Alice Faye (Irvine) Butler of Rineyville; five sons, J.R. (Norma) Vessels of Hodgenville, LeRoy Vessels of Ekron, Carl (Sandy) Vessels of Hodgenville, Tommy (Tammy) Vessels of Cloverport, and Terry (Shirley) Vessels of Brownsville; her oldest granddaughter, Angela (Kenny) Devore with whom she lived with for several years; her other grandchildren, Marisa Powers, Carla (Steve) Preston, Jay Vessels, John Paul Vessels, David (Kema) Vessels, Christa (Ben) Glenn, Keegan Vessels, Olivia Vessels, Justin Vessels, Sarah Vessels, Doug Butler, Linda Thompson, Robbie (Paula) Butler, Brian Butler, James Bratcher, Sandy (Timmy) West, Debbie (Danny) Thompson, and Missy (Dale) Thompson; her great-grandchildren, Michael (Andrea) Morris, Timmy (Lindsey) Morris, Shannon Morris, Jami Morris, Stevie (Kelly) Morris, Staci (Sam) Powers, Abe (Katie) Devore, Dollie Neagle, Jessica (Draper) Cave, Tessa (Phillip) Wilkerson, Caley Vessels, Ethan Vessels, Logan Vessels, Breanna Vessels, Julia Vessels, Emma Vessels, Angelina Murphey, Cadence Glenn, Zachary Butler, Bethany Butler; her great-great-grandchildren; Alexis Wheeler, Benjamin Newcomer, Madison Wilkerson, Kenna Powers, Leanna Morris, Gabriel Morris, Kayla Devore, Holly Neagle, Hannah Devore, Joseph Devore, Cidney Neagle, Bryce Neagle, Jacob Devore, William Devore, Ocean Barke, Micah Cave, Kenneth Cave, Kaitlyn Wilkerson, and Hayden Wilkerson, and Olivia Michelle Morris, who is due in October; and several other step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren. Her sisters-in-law, Maggie Bright and Lorene Bright both of Louisville, and Stella Druen of Hodgenville also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Carlton Puryear officiating. Burial will follow in the St. James Catholic Church Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
Visitation will be 2-8 PM Tuesday, and after 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home until time for services.
Bradford E. Barber of Cedartown, Georgia, formerly of LaRue County
Bradford E. Barber, age 88 years, of Cedartown, Georgia, formerly of LaRue County, passed away, Friday, August 14, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Rome, Georgia.
He was a retired truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Leona Glass Barber, a sister, and a brother.
He is survived by a son, Bradley "Butch" Barber of Buffalo, two sisters, Dorothy Burnette of Midway and Geraldine Glass of Owenton, a grandson, Bryan Barber, and a great-grandson, Jackson Barber.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Gordon McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 PM Monday and after 9 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Terry Randall Evans of Elizabethtown
Terry Randall Evans, age 57, of Elizabethtown, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mearl and Virginia Underwood Evans; two sisters, Rita Evans and Monte Evans and a brother, Timothy Evans.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Annitte Thompson Evans; a son, Marcus Ryan (Courtney Lynne Darnell) Evans; six sisters, Brenda Gibson, Cheryl Evans Caulk, Sheila Ann Evans, Karen Murrell, Robin Pearman and Tracy Williamson and three brothers, Mearl Evans, Troy Evans and Trent Evans.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, April 9, 2015, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville, with Bishop Larry Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the DeSpain Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 PM, Wednesday and after 9 AM, Thursday at the funeral home.

Alice Jaggers Walker of Hodgenville
Alice Jaggers Walker, age 91, of Hodgenville, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015, at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
She was a good Christian lady who loved her church, Magnolia Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she was a member for many years and was retired from the Nationwide Uniform Company.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Jaggers and Elbert C. Walker; a son, Donnie Jaggers; her parents, Jesse and Nancy Edwards; a sister, Elizabeth Broady; a brother, George Edwards and a niece, Debbie Broady.
She is survived by a three grandchildren, Mark, John Paul and Christy; two nieces, Barbara Cruse of Hodgenville and Nancy Hager of Texas; a nephew, Jim Broady of North Carolina and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, August 8, 2015, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Rev. Tim Shockley and Rev. Anthony Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM, Friday and after 9 AM, Saturday at the funeral home.
Georgia Coffey of Hodgenville
Georgia Stillwell Coffey, age 77, of Hodgenville, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015, at her residence.
She was a member of Union Christian Church, a housewife and a private babysitter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Coffey in 2012; her parents, Lige and Nora Hornback Stillwell; a sister, Minnie Peterson and two brothers, Allen Stillwell and Lige Stillwell, Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Roy) Hornback of Elizabethtown and Renee Coffey of Hodgenville; two sons, Mike (Bonnie) Coffey and Billy Coffey all of Hodgenville; two brothers, James (Shirley) Stillwell of Hodgenville and Kenneth (Peggy) Stillwell of Stephensburg and a granddaughter, Carey Lynne Coffey.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, August 5, 2015, at the Union Christian Church with Bro. Steve Campbell and Bro. Sid Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 PM, Monday and after 9 AM, Tuesday at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.

Elbert C. Walker of Hodgenville, a Green County native
Elbert C. Walker, age 94, of Hodgenville, a native of Green County, passed away, Friday, July 10, 2015, at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
He was a retired Truck Driver, an Army veteran, former mechanic and auto body repairman, he also enjoyed fixing old clocks.
Elbert was preceded in death by his first wife, Alpha Thompson Walker; a daughter, Elizabeth Walker Norman; a granddaughter, Beverly Bell and a sister, Geneva A. Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Jaggers Walker; a grandson, Jason (Pixie) French; three great-grandchildren, Tina Dearing, Eddie Jackson and Terence Bell; five great-great-grandchildren, Ethan, Hayden, Peyton and Grayson Jackson, and Jackson Dearing; seven nieces and nephews, Carolyn DeSpain, Barbara Hart, Jackie Edmonds, Alice Nelson, Cathy Davis, Mark and Larry Thompson.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday, July 13, 2015, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville, Pastor Donald Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the Bell Cemetery in Green County.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 PM Sunday and after 9 AM Monday at the funeral home.
Charles Emery Read of Hodgenville
Charles Emery Read, age 86 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hodgenville, retired agriculture teacher for the LaRue County Board of Education after several years, former vice principal of LaRue County High School, a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean War, and an avid University of Kentucky Wildcat fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Elizabeth Read, a son, Timothy Read, his parents, Otis R. Read and Carrie Ragland Read Bennett, a sister, Anna Mae McCubbin, and a brother, Raymond Read.
He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Read (Rusty) Roby of Newburgh, Indiana, a son, C.E. Read of Hodgenville, two grandchildren, Tony (Carrie) Roby and Jeremy Roby, and four great-grandchildren, Annahlise, Colston, Chloe, and Alexa Roby.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Gordon McDowell and Dr. Paul Richey officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday, and after 8 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
