Susan Kay Rawlings Unger, 36
Susan Kay Rawlings Unger, 36, a resident of Rocky Springs Road, Cynthiana, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at her residence.
She was born in Bourbon County, May 29, 1968, to Bill W. and Donna Fay Rawlings of Harrison County. She was a Harrison County Middle School cafeteria employee, a member of the Leesburg Christian Church, and the Cynthiana Elks Lodge 438.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Terry Cobb.
Survivors include: her husband, Bill Unger; a son, Derek Unger; a daughter, Brittany Unger; a sister, Vickie Manion; a nephew, Chris Manion; a niece, Amy Manion and a great niece, Sidney Manion.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 8 at Ware Funeral Home by Sam Harris and Sam Chanslor. Burial was in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Pallbearers were: Daryl Lail, Chris Manion, Scott May, Jimmy Brooks, Greg Slade, Doug Morris, and David Terrell.
Honorary pallbearers were: J.C. May, Eddie Whalen, Tony Muntz, Bob Ruth, and Robert Walker.
Lenvil D. Muntz, 68
Lenvil D. Muntz, 68, a resident of Lakeside Drive, Cynthiana, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at his residence.
He was born in Harrison County, Oct. 24, 1935, to the late Charlie and Mollie Jenkins Muntz. He was a retired Square D employee, an Army veteran, and a member of Connersville Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Garrison Muntz; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Rick Woolums; a brother, Larry (Betty) Muntz; three sisters, Blanche (Randall) Boyers, Eloise (Leroy) McCauley, and Jane (Wayne) Kearns; two grandsons, Michael Tod Woolums and Mark Aaron Woolums, all of Harrison County; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 3 at 1 p.m. at Ware Funeral Home by Bro. Clifford Neat and Bro. Barry Zumwalt. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the Connersville Christian Church Building Fund.
Leona Mae Keeton, 95
Leona Mae Keeton, 95, a resident of Cynthiana, died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Trilogy at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Coalgrove, Ohio, July 6, 1908, to the late George and Jenny Little Boyd. She was a homemaker. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Clark Keeton.
Survivors include: two daughters, Georgana Taylor Drake and Peggy Northcutt Perry, both of Cynthiana; 10 grandchildren, Martin Taylor, Marianne Castillo, Lynette Robbins-Hughes, Cheryl Estep, Regina Margotta, Merrill Northcutt Jr., Donald Northcutt, Ana Mae Brooks, Randy Northcutt, and Brian Northcutt; 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 29 at Ware Funeral Home by Benny Northcutt. Burial was in Battle Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrison County Senior Citizens Center or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Stephen Lee Hutchison, 41
Stephen Lee Hutchison, 41, a resident of West Penn Street, Cynthiana, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
He was born in Harrison County, Oct. 16, 1962, to William Hutchison Jr. of Cynthiana and the late Ella Hazel Fitch Hutchison. He was a former janitor at Harrison County High School.
Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his aunt, Shelia Fitch.
Survivors include: his wife, Frances McCown Hutchison; a brother, Joseph Glenn Hutchison of Cynthiana; a half brother, William E. Fitch of Lexington; a half sister, Judy Greene of Danville; four nieces, Savannah Hutchison, Heaven Hutchison, Ella Hutchison, and Katie Rose Fitch; a nephew, Chris Green; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, June 2 at Ware Funeral Home. Burial was in Battle Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center.
Roger L. Yates, 58
Roger L. Yates, 58, of Dryden Va., formerly of Cynthiana, died Sunday, March 23, 2004, at his home.
He was born March 2, 1946 in Clintwood, Va., the son of the late Jerry and Josephine Marshall Yates. He was a coal miner for years, working in Virginia. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine Yates.
Survivors include: his wife, Linda Anderson Yates; a brother, Tony Yates of Pennington Gap, Va.; four sisters, Gail Smith of Coburn, Va., Glenda L. Ellis, Rita Jean Hale and Lisa Kennedy, all of Clenchport, Va.; four step-children, Krystal Anderson, Robert Anderson and Christopher Bell, all of Georgetown, and Shaun Anderson of Cynthiana; five step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Friday, March 28, 2004 at Woodhead Funeral Home in Berry, with Rev. Larry Lee Jones officiating. Burial was in Pythian Grove Cemetery.
Cheryl Rae Bailey Sowder, 53
Cheryl Rae Bailey Sowder, 53, a resident of Second Street, Cynthiana, died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
She was born in Scott County, Sept. 23,1950, to Nina Mae Adams Bailey of Cynthiana and the late William Thomas Bailey. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Leesa Machelle Sowder, and a sister, Judith Kay Bailey.
Besides her mother, she is survived by: her husband, James L. Sowder; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Melissa Sowder and her daughter, Courtney M. Gaunce, all of Cynthiana; two brothers, Gary Bailey of Cynthiana and William Bailey of Louisville; two sisters, Jennie Hayes and Donna Sexton, both of Cynthiana; three grandchildren, James H. Sowder, Kayla Michele Sowder, and Chastyn Elizabeth Bailey Link.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 26 at Ware Funeral Home by Bro. Paul Stamper. Burial was in Raven Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Jesse Bailey, Michael Hayes, Josh Sexton, Joe Sowder, Nathan Sowder, and Roger Lemons.
Honorary pallbearer was Gary Sowder.
Linda Sue Fowler, 53
Linda Sue Fowler, 53, of Cynthiana, died Thursday, MArch 4, 2004 at the Hospice Care Center.
She was born December 5, 1950 in Bourbon County to Lester Allen and Louise Johnson Jones. She was a member of Ammerman Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, David Fowler; her parents; two sons, Michael Dee Fowler of Harrison County, and David Allen Fowler of Nicholas County; five brothers, Johnny Jones of Indiana, Gail Lee Jones of California, Lester Jones, Jr., Carl Davis Jones both of Nicholasville, and Danny Jones of Madison County; and two sisters, Barbara Smithson of Nicholasville, and Bonnie Burke of Nicholas County.
Funeral Services were conducted Monday, March 8, 2004 at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home in Paris by Rev. James T. Vance with burial in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Dane Fowler, Larry Fowler, Lester Jones, Jr., Johnny Jones, Larry Lemons and Anthony Vance.
Honorary pallbearers were: Jim Rogers and Mark Fugate.
Donald Ray Apparicio, 55
Donald Ray Apparicio, 55, a resident of Berry, died Saturday, March 6, 2004 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He was born on March 6, 1949, son of the late Sam and Jetti Lowe Apparicio. He was a was a retired custodian with the Veterans Administration Hospital, and a retired member of the United States Army, where he was a highly decorated soldier in the Vietnam Conflict.
Survivors include: his wife, Cinda Rae Curtis Apparicio; two children, Samuel Ray and Starla Venus Apparicio; and five grandchildren, Serenity Laressa Apparicio-Rivera, Kiara Merlane Apparicio, Madison JoAnne Staniszewski, Quentin Michael Apparicio, and Josiah Kyver Apparicio.
A memorial service is being planned at a later date. He will be laid to rest with full military honors.
Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry, is in charge of arrangements.
