Rhoda Lee Allen, 87
Rhoda Lee Allen, 87, a resident of West Penn Street, Cynthiana, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at her residence.
She was born in Marion, S.C., May 18,1916, to the late David and Walener Gregg Williams. She was a receptionist and nutritionist for the Harrison County Senior Citizens Center, a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, the Senior Choir and the Advisory Board of Aging, a former cook at the Cynthiana Elks Lodge 438, and former member of the Cooperative Homemakers.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Arthur Jackson Sr. and George L. Allen, a son, John Arthur Jackson Jr., twins, Georgia and George Allen Jr., a brother, Roy Williams, and a sister, Alice Hopkins.
Survivors include: five daughters, Warlener J. (Louis) Hughley, Ollie Mae Heard, and Patricia Lee Allen, all of Lexington, and Alice K. Allen and Georgetta Allen, both of Cynthiana; a brother, Earl (Joyce) Williams of Richmond, Va.; three sisters, Agnes DeJarnette, Rufenia Banks, and Jennie B. Middleton, all of Richmond, Va.; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Feb. 23 at Macedonia Baptist Church by the Rev. Joseph Ray under the direction of Ware Funeral Home. Burial was in Cherry Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church, Hospice of the Bluegrass, or the Harrison County Senior Citizens.
Pallbearers were: Don Adair, Gene Cummins, Billie Custard, Scott Grannis, Daniel Madison, Timothy Newcomb, and Joey Allen.
Honorary pallbearers were: grandsons, nieces, and nephews, and Joe Gross.
Dakota Jaye Alcorn, infant
Dakota Jaye Alcorn, infant son of Randy Turner and Nicole Alcorn, both of Cynthiana, was born Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, and died on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Cincinnati.
Survivors include: his parents; maternal grandmother, Darlene Alcorn of Cynthiana; paternal grandmothers, Della Gallagher of Cynthiana, and Phyllis Turner of Lexington; and maternal great-grandmother, Jean Alcorn of Lexington.
Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 17 at Evergreen Memory Gardens with Albert Mitchell speaking. Burial followed the service.
Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home in Paris, Ky. was in charge of arrangements.
Charles Thomas Barker, 65
Charles Thomas Barker, 65, a resident of Robynwood Drive, Cynthiana, died Tuesday, Jan. 27 ,2004, at his residence.
He was born in Morgan County, June 12, 1938, to Johnny Barker and Lillian Martin Caswell of Cynthiana. He was a retired truck driver and City of Cynthiana employee, a member of Unity Christian Church, and a member of the Elks Lodge 438 for 26 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Florence Barker.
Survivors include: three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Betty Barker of Cynthiana, Kenny and Joyce Barker of Georgetown, and Edward and Kathy Barker of Ashland; a sister and a brother-in-law, Barbara and Clyde Devers of Versailles; and several nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Melissa Mutscheller and Vanessa Barker.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Jan. 31 at Ware Funeral Home by Bro. Marvin Keane. Elks memorial service was held Friday. Burial was in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1900 Richmond Rd., Lexington, KY 40502, or Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Mildred Elizabeth 'Dot' Taggart, 93
Mildred Elizabeth 'Dot' Taggart, 93, a resident of East Pike Street, Cynthiana, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Harrison County, Ky., July 7, 1910 to the late William T. and Hattie Clifford McKenney. She was retired from Rohs Jewelers and J.J. Newberry Co., and was a member of Cynthiana Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lewis Taggart, a sister, Mayme McMurtry, and three brothers, William Boyd 'Mac' McKenney, Carl McKenney, and Clarence Lee 'Bub' McKenney.
Survivors include: one son, Charles A. Taggart and his wife Donna G.; one brother, William G. McKenney; and one grandson, James H. Taggart.
Services were conducted Monday, Jan. 26 at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home by the Rev. Wayne Spivey. Burial was in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Cynthiana Baptist Church.
Pallbearers were: David Kinney, James Taggart, William Lawrence Blackburn, Malcolm Grinstead, David Grinstead, and Bobby Craft.

Billy Ray Sadler Jr., 40
Billy Ray Sadler Jr., 40, a resident of North Miller Street, Cynthiana, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at Harrison Memorial Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
He was born in Harrison County, Aug. 7, 1963. He was a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Donnie Fryman, and a sister, Kimberly Sadler.
Survivors include: his parents, Billy Ray and Rosemary Sadler of Milford, and Jeanie Fryman of Berry; a son, Billy Ray Sadler III of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Autumn Michelle Sadler and Reagan Nichole Sadler, both of Harrison County; two brothers, Randy (Kim) Sadler and Mark (Tomi Jane) Sadler; a sister, Penny (Steven) Prows, all of Harrison County; his fiance and her children, Linda Cordray, Michael L. Thomas and Amy Renee Thomas, all of Cynthiana; and a stepsister, Mary Beth (Rick) Foster of Harrison County; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Ware Funeral Home by the Rev. Larry Jones. Burial was in Pythian Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Central Kentucky, 2417 Regency Rd., Suite B, Lexington, Ky. 40503.

Anna Sue Mullins, 74
Anna Sue Mullins, 74, a resident of Salem Pike, Cynthiana, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004 at Grand Haven Nursing Home.
She was born in Harrison County, Jan. 4, 1930, to the late Lafe and Mammie Rankins Jones. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her brother, John Jones.
Survivors include: her husband of 57 years, Lee Roy Mullins; six sons, Kenneth Lee Mullins, CIA employee, Larry Wayne Mullins of Cincinnati, Ohio, John Mullins of Elkton, Roy Lee Mullins of Florence, Frank Darrell Mullins of Dallas, Texas, and William I. Mullins of Cleveland, Ohio; three daughters, Bonnie Mullins of Cincinnati, Rita Jo Gardner of Florence, and Anna Marie Jones of Covington, Ky.; 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 28 at Ware Funeral Home by Bro. Tony Vance. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.

John Cason, 74
John Cason, 74, a resident of Short Street, Cynthiana, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Fayette County, Ky., June 6, 1929. He was retired from Bundy Tubing and was an honorably discharged Army veteran.
Survivors include: his wife, Lennie Belle White Cason; one stepson, Stanley Charles Florence and his wife Phyllis Ray; two stepdaughters, Fannie Mae Northcutt and her husband B.W., and Rowena Velat and her husband George; one sister, Lucille Hillock; his grandchildren, Debbie Ross, Sandra Pierce, B.W. Northcutt Jr., Robert Northcutt, Stanley Nelson Florence, Michael Ray Florence, Christopher True, Terry Edwards, Tonya Shrink, Tommy Gregory, Randy True, Jack True, and Bradley Walker; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted Monday, Jan. 26 at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home by the Rev. Harry Readnour. Burial was in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church.
