Thomas Barton Mattingly, 77
Thomas Barton "Skillet" Mattingly, 77, died at 7:10 p.m. June 8, 2004, at Spring View Hospital, Lebanon.
Born Oct. 27, 1926, in Washington County, Mattingly was a farmer, United States Army Veteran of World War II and member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Thomas Walter and Emma Badgett Mattingly; a brother, Adrian Mattingly; and a sister, Anna Mary Bowman.
Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Wheatley Mattingly of Springfield; four sons, Donnie Mattingly of Hebron, Wayne Mattingly of Owensboro and Billy and Timmy Mattingly, both of Springfield; five daughters, Judy Hatchett, Elaine Wethington and Sandy Medley, all of Springfield, and Jeanette Wehr and Donna Gail Triplett, both of Louisville; a brother, Jim Mattingly of St. Mary; a sister, Rose Thompson of Louisville; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 11 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Springfield, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Stephen Hayes, O.P., Rev. James Murray, O.P., and Rev. Chris Allegra officiated.
Active pallbearers were Donnie, Billy, Wayne, Timmy and Shawn Mattingly and Scott Wehr.
Honorary pallbearers were Derek Triplett, Matthew Wethington, Chad Medley and Amy Ford.

Charles Ronald Darst, 67
Charles Ronald "Ron" Darst, 67, Holy Cross, died at 5:55 p.m. June 7, 2004, at Spring View Hospital, Lebanon.
Born Nov. 2, 1936, in Grayson County, Darst served 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He fought in the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Dorothy Elizabeth "Dot" Wood Darst; and parents, George Edwin and Mary Ellen "Dink" Smallwood Darst.
Survivors include: six daughters, Susan Grainger of North Olmsted, Ohio, Diana Flanagan and Kim Price of Lebanon, Patty Poe of Bowling Green, Mary Hourigan of Gravel Switch and Sarah Hampton of Glascow; two sons, Steven Darst of Leavenworth, Kan., and Scott Darst of Campbellsville; a sister, Betty Peerenboom of Holy Cross; a brother, Edwin Darst of Holy Cross; and 13 grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was held June 10 at Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. Rev. Joseph R. Dant officiated.
Active pallbearers were: sons-in-law Eric Hampton, Frank Flanagan Jr., Bill Grainger, Greg Price, Larry Hourigan Jr. and Ty Poe.
Honorary pallbearers were nieces and nephews - Kenny, Jerry, David and Joe Peerenboom, Greg, Edwinna and JoAnn Darst and Datha Thompson.
The Marion County Veterans Honor Guard performed Military Rites at the cemetery.

Mary Loretta Osborne, 88, Lebanon, died May 2, 2004, at her residence.
Born Oct. 2, 1915, in Springfield, Osborne was a homemaker and member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Richard Miles "R.M." Osborne; parents, Joseph Richard and Elizabeth Lida Smith Cambron; two sisters, Francella Isabelle Cambron and Mary Jane Cambron; and two brothers, Joseph Thornton and Henry Edward "Pistol" Cambron.
Survivors include: three sons, Richard Miles "Dickie," John Martin "Johnny" and Michael Cambron "Mike" Osborne, all of Lebanon; two daughters, Catherine Louise "Cathy" McRay and Margaret M. Osborne, both of Lebanon; a brother, Joseph Richard "Joe Dick" Cambron of Springfield; three sisters, Emma Rose Cambron Hagan, Mary Helena Cambron Brady and Elizabeth Louise Cambron Corley, all of Louisville; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was held May 4 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Lebanon, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Jerry Bell officiated.

Frederick Johnson "Fred" Mattingly, 77, Kansas City, Mo., died June 1, 2004, at Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice in Kansas City, Mo.
Born Oct. 2, 1926, in Lebanon, Mattingly was a retired nurse assistant.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Benedict D. and Mabel Johnston Mattingly.
Survivors include: his sister, Jeanette Smith of Kansas City, Mo.; and a brother, Clelland Mattingly of Lebanon.
A funeral Mass was held June 4 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Lebanon, with burial in Lebanon National Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Bell officiated.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Parker, Verlie Norton, Joe Willie McAtee, Mike and Bobby Graves and Robert Beam.

Ada Pearl Wicker, 95, Lebanon, died at 4:30 p.m. May 22, 2004, at Cedars of Lebanon Nursing Center.
Born April 24, 1909 in Marion County, Wicker was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Charles Harrison Wicker; and parents, Jesse and Margaret Lucretia Young Dunn.
Survivors include: a daughter, Elizabeth Whitlock of Lebanon; a sister, Mamie Violette of Lebanon; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held May 25 at Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, with burial in Old Liberty Cemetery in Bradfordsville. Rev. Clellan Hays officiated.

Mary Lee Mattingly Smith, 97, Main St., Mackville, died at 5:15 p.m. June 2, 2004, at the Kensington Manor in Elizabethtown.
Born March 24, 1907 in Washington County, Smith was a member of Mackville Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Lillard Smith Sr.; parents, Thomas and Lula Reddick Mattingly; a son, Lillard Smith Jr.; a grandson, William A. Smith; three sisters, Lottie Tatum, Lillian Pile and Evelyn Smith; and five brothers, Willie, Huber, Walker, Houston and Franklin Mattingly.
Survivors include: two daughters, Betsy Johnson of Lebanon and Helen Isham of Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 5 at Carey and Son Funeral Home, Springfield, with burial in Peter Cemetery in Mackville. Rev. David Gifford officiated.
