James Cecil Higdon, 75
James Cecil Higdon, 75, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Norton Medical Pavilion Hospice Unit, Louisville.
Born Feb. 4, 1929, in Marion County, Higdon was a retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army reserves and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from A&P; Food Stores and Higdon Home Construction and was a life long member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Joseph Henry and Mary Victoria McCain Higdon; and a brother, William Joseph Higdon.
Survivors include: his wife, Alice Willett Higdon (married 53 years) of Lebanon; two sons, Jimmy (Jane) Higdon and Bruce (Linda) Higdon, all of Lebanon; five daughters, Lois (Ed) Roby, Dianne (Steve) Willis, Mary Jo (Gene) Zipperle and Pam (Scott) Doyle, all of Louisville, and Allie Moore of Lebanon; two brothers, Paul (Elizabeth) Higdon of Lebanon and Robert Bernard (Melvena) Higdon of Alexandria; a sister, Katherine Anne Abell of Louisville; a sister-in-law, Rita Higdon of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandson, as well as many friends and loved ones.
The funeral Mass was held June 2 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, with burial in Lebanon National Cemetery. Rev. Mark Spalding officiated and Rev. David Sanchez and Deacon Joe Ray Dant assisted.
Active pallbearers were Jim and Blake Higdon, Eric and Adam Zipperle, Alex Doyle, Matthew Roby and David Nagle.
Honorary pallbearers were Donald Ball, Frank Bland, Jack Perkins, Billy and Greg Lanham, Jim Johnson, David Patterson, Ernest Taylor, Bill Parman, Richard Appling, J.E. Miles, Raphael O'Daniel and Harry Vanwhy.

Mildred Jenelle "Sandy" Sandidge Hullette, 79, Church Hill, Tenn., died May 29, 2004, at her residence.
Born in Scott County, Va., Hullette was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Mount Carmel.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Bob and Effie Jones Sandidge; and three brothers, Burt, Robert and Everett Sandidge.
Survivors include: her husband, Rev. Robert Bruce Hullette; three daughters, Cynthia Pelphrey of Owensboro, Connie Miller of Louisville and Rita Dykes of Church Hill, Tenn.; two sons, Rodney Hullette of Rogersville, Tenn., and Alan Hullette of Bedford, Va.; three sisters, Rheba Alley, Ethel Mae O'Neill and Freddie Nelson; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Funeral services were held June 2 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Revs. Rocky Churchwell and Charles Earl officiated. Graveside services were held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Kingsport, Tenn. Rev. Eric Jewett officiated.
Pallbearers were John K. Williams Jr., Andrew Greer, Carl Sandidge, Eddie Carr, Wayne Haun, Doug Crowder and Smith Mayes.
Honorary pallbearers were Clyde Bowers, Hoard Hightower, Jack Hullette, Jimmy Neal Thurman and former and present deacons of Surgoinsville Baptist Church and Oak Grover Baptist Church.

Charlie Ronald "Ron" Darst, 67, Holy Cross, died at 5:55 p.m. June 7, 2004, at Spring View Hospital, Lebanon.
Born Nov. 2, 1936, in Grayson County, Darst served 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He fought in the Vietnam War.
Visitation: 3-9 p.m. June 9 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto.
Funeral Mass: Thursday, June 10, at the funeral home with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery.

William Clyde Royse, 85, Lebanon, died at 12:45 p.m. June 1, 2004, at his residence.
Born May 15, 1919, in Adair County, Royse was an Army Veteran of World War II and owner and operator of Clyde's Shoe Store.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Edgar Farris and Bertha McFarland Royse.
Survivors include: his wife, Ruth Kelsay Royse of Lebanon; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Judy Royse of Lebanon; a brother, John S. Royse of Louisville; a sister, Dorothy Mae Logan of Oldham County; and two grandchildren, Mark Kelsay and Elizabeth Ann Royse.
Funeral services were held June 3 at Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, with burial in Columbia City Cemetery. Pastor Debbie Pierce-Dunn officiated.
