John "Tom" Daugherty Jr.
John "Tom" Daugherty Jr., 57, Robards, formerly of Evansville, died of a heart attack Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He was a 1961 graduate of Evansville Memorial High School. He was a log buyer at Evansville Veneer Company, where he worked since 1964. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served on the U.S.S. Long Beach. He was a member and former secretary of the Stoplight City Wing Club. He was an avid Harley Davidson rider and a fan of NASCAR. He was a member of St. John's Church in Daylight, Ind.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marla Kay Daugherty, who died in 1967.
Survivors include his companion, Phyllis Moser; one daughter, Marybeth Uziekalla of Evansville; two sons, Darrell Daugherty and Michael Daugherty, both of Evansville; his mother, Marcella Daugherty of Evansville; four sisters, Toni Friedman, Angie Macke, and Lisa Daugherty, all of Evansville, and Gwen Gwaltney of New Harmony; five brothers, James Daugherty and Greg Daugherty, both of Evansville, Randy Daugherty and Tim Daugherty, both of Newburgh, and Kevin Daugherty of Boonville; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Friday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel in Evansville and continued at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's Church in Daylight, Ind. The Rev. Robert Deig will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Church Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, where a memorial service will be held at 7:45 p.m. tonight.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association or St. John's Church.
Thomas "Tom" George Baty
CLAY -- Thomas "Tom" George Baty, 64, died at 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at his home here.
He was a diabled oil field worker.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Poe Baty; three sons, T. Wayne Baty of Morganfield, T. Eugene Baty of Dixon, and Anthony Poe of Princeton, Ky.; three daughters, Teresa Duncan and Lisa McVay, both of Providence, and Tina Beckner of Clay; two sisters, Charlene Alexander and Ollie May Walker, both of Rutland, Vt.; five brothers, John Caldwell and James Caldwell, both of Providence, Charles Quertermous and Tom Edward Baty, both of Dixon, and Bobby Baty of Toledo, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Amazing Grace Tabernacle in Providence. Sister Donna Engler will officiate.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Sam Wahl
Sam Wahl, 76, Henderson, died at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Methodist Hospital.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Elliot Porter Sunday School class. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, a former member of Henderson Rotary Club, and a commercial contractor for many years. He served as a Civil Air Patrol pilot involved in search and rescue and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Wahl; three daughters, Anita Bojorquez of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Dale Durbin and Karen Chapman, both of Henderson; two sons, Bruce A. Wahl of Evansville and Brent A. Wahl of Henderson; two half-sisters, Kitty Lowery of Niceville, Fla., and Sussie Risley of Henderson; one brother, Dorris E. Wahl of Eddyville; one half-brother, David Lee Konsler of Henderson; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The Rev. David Bratcher and Camille Bratcher will officiate. There will be no graveside service.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to The Diabetes Association.
Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Lillian Samples
Lillian Samples, 91, Henderson, died at 12:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Methodist Hospital.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 75 years, Clyde Samples; two sons, Oral Samples of Poole, and Randolph Samples of Indianapolis; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Tapp Funeral Home. The Revs. John Conn and Ron Hampton will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson.

Kathy Sue Epley
HANSON -- Kathy Sue Epley, 37, Hanson, died at 12:06 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, from the results of an automobile accident on U.S. 41-Alternate near Nebo, Ky.
She was a nursing assistant and worked at local nursing homes. She attended The Fellowship Temple in Madisonville.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Holmes and Alice Dixon.
Survivors include her husband, John Oliver Epley; two sons, Eric Joseph Johnson and Tony Lee Johnson, both of Hanson; two sisters, Frances Alberta Cobb of Slaughters, and Evelyn Huddleston of Madisonville; six brothers, Raymond Ipock, Wayne Ipock, Robert Ipock, Danny Ipock, and Harry Ipock, all of Madisonville, and Richard Ipock of Williamstown, Ky.; and one granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Tompkins Funeral Homes Slaughters-Hanson Chapel. The Rev. Gene Rickard will officiate. Burial will be in the Hanson City Cemetery.

Thomas Robert "Tommy" Farley
Thomas Robert "Tommy" Farley, 41, Henderson, died of cancer at 8:20 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at his home here.
He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, and a 1978 graduate of Henderson County High School, where he was a track athlete who set the school record in the 880-yard run. He was state runner-up his junior year in 1977. He was the assistant coach for Holy Name's elementary school county champions in 1995. He was a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Kim Farley; two daughters, Lauren R. Farley and Leslie A. Farley, both of Henderson; his parents, Malcolm and Betty Farley of Henderson; one sister, Marcia Effinger of Mount Vernon, Ind.; six brothers, James M. "Jim" Farley, Chris Farley, Bruce Farley, Richard Farley, and Timothy Farley, all of Henderson, and Joseph "Joe" Farley of West Hollywood, Calif.; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. The Rev. Andy Ausenbaugh will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. tonight.

Clay Crowley
Clay Crowley, 81, Henderson, died at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Redbanks nursing home.
He was a former deacon of Presbyterian Church of Henderson. He was a member of Poole Masonic Lodge No. 604 F&AM, a 32nd degree member of West Kentucky Consistory in Madisonville, Elks Lodge No. 206 in Henderson, and Moose Lodge No. 732 in Henderson. He was also a Kentucky Colonel and an automobile salesman in Henderson for many years. He was also a member for over 50 years and a former officer of the local chapter of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, past District deputy grand master of Kentucky Odd Fellows and a member of the Rebeccah Lodge of Henderson.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Dannheiser and Jo Ella Rucks, both of Henderson; one son, Earl Crowley of Louisville; one sister, Frances Cleveland of Cairo; one brother, Rudolph Crowley of Buffalo, N.Y.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tapp Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Pollack will officiate. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole.
