George Hopson Jr.
PROVIDENCE -- George Hopson Jr., 78, Providence, died at 12:43 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
He was an employee at the Island Creek Coal Company for 46 years and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America District No. 23.
Survivors include three daughters, Yvonne Reynolds, Maevella Hopson and Brenda Drake, all of Providence; three sons, George Hopson III, David Hopson and Keith Hopson, all of Providence; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Marable Temple Church of God in Christ in Providence. Elder Eugene Marable will officiate. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery in Providence.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at the church.

Lillian T. Clatterbuck
OWENSBORO -- Lillian T. Clatterbuck, 69, died at 2:42 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at her home here.
She had retired from General Electric in Owensboro, where she worked as a machine operator for 45 years. She was a former member of Wing Avenue Baptist Church and a member of Hall Street Baptist Church, both in Owensboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Clatterbuck, who died in 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis F. Clatterbuck of Hanson and Anthony "Tony" Clatterbuck of Owensboro; two sisters, Helen Bryant of Henderson and Mary Louise Sandadge of Shipshewana, Ind.; one brother, Daniel E. Purcell of Peoria, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home in Owensboro.
The Rev. Joe Kitchens will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Owensboro.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Sunday at the funeral home.

Joseph L. McBride
Joseph L. McBride, 87, Henderson, formerly of Dunedin, Fla., died at 8:22 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at his home here.
He was an avid fisherman, carpenter, and farmer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Christopher Council. He commanded an all black tank division in World War II and achieved the rank of major.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy McBride; and two sons, Harold McBride and Ronnie McBride.
Survivors include his wife of 5 1/2 years, Margaret "Nora" McBride; one stepdaughter, Chelsey Leann Key of Henderson; one sister, Louise Crowdus of Elizabethtown; one brother, Calvin McBride of Marine City, Mich.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. The Rev. Andy Ausenbaugh will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. today.

Mary Lou Huffines
Mary Lou Huffines, 54, Henderson, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at her home.
She was a member of Fairlawn Baptist Church in Evansville.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Tony Huffines; one son, Mark A. Huffines of Hartford, Ky.; her father, Veachie Oost of Owensboro; two sisters, Anna Howard and Donna Scott, both of Owensboro; two brothers, Billy Oost of Owensboro, and Wayne Oost of Whitesville, Ky.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. The Rev. Bill Kellogg will officiate. Burial will be in Clear Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Ohio County.

Ann Stone Michael
CLIFTON, N.J. -- Ann Stone Michael, 94, Clifton, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Beth Israel Hospital in Passaic, N.J.
She graduated from Barret Manual Training High School in Henderson and worked as a bookkeeper at Eckerts Packing House. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irving Michael, who died in 1972.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Teger of Morris Plains, N.J.; one sister, Pearl Rothman of Jupiter, Fla.; one brother, David Stone of Henderson; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Montefiore Cemetery in Springfield Gardens, N.Y.
Jewish Memorial Chapel in Clifton was in charge of arrangements.
Kathleen Capps Dixon
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Kathleen Capps Dixon, 77, formerly of Morganfield, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at her home here.
She was a member of Epiphany Cathedral Church in Venice, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh M. Dixon.
Survivors include one son, Jim Dixon of Tallahassee; four sisters, Christine Penrod and Dolores Sturgell, both of Eldorado, Ill., Betty Baer of Henderson, and Dorothy Sauchuck of Woodbridge, Va.; one brother, Barkley Capps of Henderson; one grandson; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Barbourville, Ky. The Rev. Bernie Lutkenhoff will officiate. Burial will be in Barbourville Cemetery.

Donald Wayne Baize, 57, Henderson, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at his home here.
He was a member of American Legion Worsham Post No. 40 and Moose Lodge No. 732.
Survivors include one daughter, Lori Baize of Lebanon, Tenn.; two sons, Michael Wayne Baize of Hermitage, Tenn., and Donald Dion Baize of Boonville, Ind.; one sister, Sonda Lee of Henderson; one brother, James Earl Baize Jr. of Henderson; five grandchildren; and nieces.
