Lucy Crafton Thomas Churchill
Lucy Crafton Thomas Churchill, 86, Henderson, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Redbanks nursing home here.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Churchill.
She cooked at Methodist Hospital and Henderson Country Club. She was also a cook and on the Senior Usher Board at First Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Perry; three sisters, Mary Rankin, Ethel Thomas, and Elizabeth McFarland, all of Henderson; one stepsister, Maggie Sneed of Henderson; one brother, Nathaniel Thomas of Henderson; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Tapp Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Robert Estes will officiate. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson.
Robert Otho Edwards
STURGIS -- Robert Otho Edwards, 92, Sturgis, died at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Northfield Center for Health in Louisville.
He was a teacher and administator in the Union County school system. He was director of pupil personnel, director of transportation, and served three seperate tenures as superintendent of the county school system. After retirement, he served as a consultant to the Department of Education for the State of Kentucky. He was a member of First Christian Church in Sturgis.
Survivors include his wife, Esthel Hammack Edwards of Louisville; two daughters, Bonnie Edwards Henshaw of Louisville, and Connie Edwards Hunkapiller of Orlando, Fla.; one son, Robert H. Edwards of Nashville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis. The Rev. Jeff Bullock will officiate. Burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis is in charge of arrangements.
Blanche Duckworth Wallace
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- Blanche Duckworth Wallace, 87, Clarksville, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Gateway Hospital in Clarksville.
She was a member of New Providence United Methodist Church in Clarksville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thelson Wallace.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Sue W. Hester of Clarksville, Jane W. Brock of Moorehead, N.C., and Betty Lou W. Posey of Henderson; two sisters, Dorothy Snider and Florence Hillyard, both of Henderson; and one brother, Doris Duckworth of Henderson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at New Providence United Methodist Church in Clarksville. The Rev. Steve Angus will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, with internment services at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Friends may call today from 1 to 7 p.m. at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home in Clarksville.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the New Providence United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Lee Mayes
EDDYVILLE, Ky. -- Lee Mayes, 65, Eddyville, died at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was retired from Matlack Trucking in Calvert City. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Eddyville.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Hazel Croft Mayes; two daughters, Cindy Thweatt of Eddyville and Vicki Bynum of Lyon County; one son, Ricky Mayes of Henderson; three brothers, Lester Mayes and Donald Mayes, both of Rockville, Ind., and Paul Mayes of New Castle, Ind.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lakeland Funeral Home Chapel in Eddyville. The Revs. Tim Perdue and Ronnie Hooks will officiate. Burial will be in Rolling Hills Cemetery in Eddyville.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where military services will be conducted at 7 p.m. tonight.
Henry Latta Bethel Jr.
FRANKFORT -- Henry Latta Bethel Jr., 83, Frankfort, formerly of Smith Mills, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and in the Army during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired with the rank of colonel. A former deputy state director of selective service, he received his law degree from the University of Louisville. He was a life member of the VFW, the Reserve Officers Association of the United States, a member of the American Legion and of the Jerusalem Masonic Lodge No. 9. He was an elder of the First Christian Church in Frankfort.
Survivors include his wife, La Verne Preston Bethel; one daughter, Pamela Bethel Bartley of Santa Rosa, Calif,; two sons, Darryl Latta Bethel of Lexington and Paul Earl Bethel of El Cajon, Calif.; and one granddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Frankfort. Entombment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville.
The Revs. Gary Straub and John Chenault will officiate.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rogers Funeral Home in Frankfort.

Dorothy Mae Langley Wade
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Dorothy Mae Langley Wade, 64, Columbus, formerly of Henderson, died at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at Grant Medical Center here.
She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Columbus and a former member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Henderson
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann E. Alexander.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Charles E. Wade; one daughter, Doris Hatchett of Henderson; one son, James Anthony Wade of Columbus; her mother, Arvena Christine Houston Langley of Henderson; four sisters, Ann Craig of Henderson, Mary Boyd of Indianapolis, Clara McClure of Newburgh, Ind.; and Patricia Langley of Hopkinsville; one brother, David Langley of Henderson; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
A wake service will be held Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mason Brothers Audubon Chapel in Henderson.
Eva Gass
Eva Gass, 92, Henderson, died at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Medco Center of Henderson.
She was a member of Bennett Memorial United Methodist Church and a former member of The Rebeccah Lodge of Henderson.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Pollack and Gary Puryear will officiate. Entombment will be in Fairmont Mausoleum.
