Herman Lindal Ezell
OWENSBORO -- Herman Lindal Ezell, 57, died in a fire Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at his home here.
He was a former certified nurse's aid at Leisure Years Nursing Home, a Daviess County fireman, and a paramedic for 16 years. He was a member of Daviess County Fish and Game and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, hunting and fishing.
His wife, Barbara Ezell, died with him in the fire. They were married
Oct. 13, 2000.
Survivors include one daughter, Lori Penrod of Owensboro; one son, Neal Ezell of Owensboro; his mother and stepfather, Lula Biggs and and Frederick "Pat" Biggs of Owensboro; two half-sisters, Jane Andry of Birdseye, Ind., and Gail Haire of Maceo, Ky.; and four grandchildren.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. The Rev. Mitchell Donahue officiated. Burial will be in Calhoun Cemetery at a later date.
Hattie "Weenie" Evelyn Blades Mitchell
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. -- Hattie "Weenie" Evelyn Blades Mitchell, 86, New Port Richey, formerly of Henderson, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Mitchell.
Survivors include one sister, Dorothy Littlepage of New Port Richey; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at North/Meadowlawn Funeral Home in New Port Richey. The Rev. James Whiteside will officiate. Burial will be in Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens in New Port Richey.
Bernadette W. Hite
MORGANFIELD -- Bernadette W. Hite, 87, Morganfield, died at 8:11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Union County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Parvin Hite, who died in 1969; and two sons, Jerry Hite, who died in 1989, and Rocky Hite, who died in 1992.
Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Baczewski of Charleston, S.C.; two sons, Jimmy Hite of Bullard, Texas, and Fred Hite of Morganfield; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ann Catholic Church in Morganfield. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield.
Earl Reed Lamb Jr.
STURGIS -- Earl Reed Lamb Jr., 74, died of cancer at 7:10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at his home here.
He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and First Baptist Church in Sturgis. He was a 31-year employee of South Central Bell.
He was preceded in death by one son, Earl Reed Lamb III, who died in 1974.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia J. Lamb; two sons, David Blair Lamb of Morganfield and John Thomas Lamb of Evansville; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. The Rev. Don Phelps will officiate. Burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.
Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to First Baptist Church in Sturgis or St. Anthony's Hospice.
Glenn Layman
OWENSBORO -- Glenn Layman, 86, Owensboro, formerly of Sturgis, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at Hillcrest Health Care Center here.
He was a member of Bellview Baptist Church in Owensboro and was an ordained deacon at First Baptist Church in Sturgis. He was also a member of Kelsey Lodge Masonic Order. He was retired from the Kentucky Highway Department and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Lillie Layman of Owensboro; one sister, Marjorie Layman of Marion; and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. The Rev. Greg Fauls will officiate. Burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Elynor Brown Boggess
MANITOU, Ky. -- Elynor Brown Boggess, 70, Manitou, died at 5 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
A Henderson native, she was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Madisonville. She was also a volunteer at the Madisonville-Hopkins County Library.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace L. Boggess, who died Nov. 1, 2000.
Survivors include one daughter, Lynn Ann Waddle of Elizabethtown, Ky.; one son, Bruce Boggess of Madisonville; one sister, Beverly Matthews of Madisonville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Madisonville. The Revs. David Waddle and Bob Rice will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville and after noon Tuesday at the church.

Willie Belle Simpson Church
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Willie Belle Simpson Church, 92, Murfreesboro, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center here.
She was a member of East Main Church of Christ in Murfreesboro and the Order of the Eastern Star Murfreesboro Chapter No. 363. She was also owner and operator of the Maple Inn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Franklin Church Sr.; and one son, Thomas Franklin Church Jr.
Survivors include three daughters, Geneva Starkey of Murfreesboro, Mary Parsley of Bellbuckle, Tenn., and Susan Flat of Shiloh, Tenn.; two sons, Steve Church of Winchester, Tenn., and Jerry Church of Henderson; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Jennings & Ayers Chapel in Murfreesboro. Wayne Lankford will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Murfreesboro.
