Mary Elizabeth Mattingly

Mary Elizabeth Mattingly, 99, Corydon, died at 9 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2001, at her home.

She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Waverly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Mattingly, who died in 1951; and three sons, Albert Mattingly, John Mattingly, and Joe Mattingly.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Gertrude Moore and Catherine Westerman, both of Corydon; two sons, James Richard Mattingly of Corydon, and Charles Robert Mattingly of Henderson; one sister, Susan Brown of Finley, Ky.; 20 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. Bob Willett will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Peter's Catholic Church Building Fund.

Margaret June Lambert Rideout

Margaret June Lambert Rideout, 71, Henderson, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at her home.

She was a member of Finley Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Sunshine Club and the Women's Missionary Union. She was also a member of the Town and Country Homemakers Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris E. Rideout, who died Oct. 4, 1993.

Survivors include two daughters, Debra Carroll and Linda Large, both of Henderson; two sons, David E. Rideout of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Calvin W. Rideout of Dixon; three sisters, Hallie Fleeger and Bea Englehart, both of Evansville, and Eva House of Louisville; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Finley Baptist Church or St. Anthony's Hospice.

Thelma Millikan

UNIONTOWN -- Thelma Millikan, 74, Uniontown, died of cancer at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Crittenden County Health Systems.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Irvin Millikan, who died in 1984; and one daughter, Janet Faye Steward, who died in 2000.

Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Nedrow of San Antonio; one son, Ricky Millikan of Uniontown; one brother, Fred Lowe of Bellmont, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. Services will also be at 3 p.m. Friday at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave-in-Rock, Ill. The Rev. Arthur Austin Jr. will officiate at both services. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery in Cave-in-Rock, Ill.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and until the first service time Friday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, and after 2 p.m. Friday at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home.

Dora L. "Varble" Bates

OWENSBORO -- Dora L. "Varble" Bates, 59, Owensboro, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.

She was a housewife.

Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Charles Bates; five daughters, Pamela Kendall, Elissa Early, and Janetta Clark, all of Owensboro, Renee' McNeese of Bowling Green, and Charlene Bates of Florence, Ky.; one son, David Williams of Troy, Ind.; five sisters, Emma Beals and Dorothy Denton, both of Robards, Joyce Gass of Henderson, and Kathy Bugg and Donna Smithheart, both of Reed; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Reed.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ceannie Holeman

LOUISVILLE -- Ceannie Holeman, 100, Louisville, formerly of Tilden, Ky., died at 3 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Masonic Home of Louisville.

She was a housewife and a member of Tilden General Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bryan Holeman, who died in 1992.

Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Evalene Marks of Evansville; three sons, Ray Holeman of Tucson, Ariz., James Kirby Holeman of Elizabethtown, and Jimmy Holeman of Nebo, Ky.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon. The Rev. Bob Fulcher will officiate. Burial will be in Old Cedar Grove Cemetery in Tilden.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Noble A. Wall

Noble A. Wall, 61, Henderson, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Jenny Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.

He was a retired forklift operator for Whirlpool Corporation. He was also a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and had served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Wall; one son, Tim Wall of Burns, Tenn.; three stepdaughters, Tammy Whitledge and Debbie Sauer, both of Henderson, and Ruth Ann Platford of Owensboro; his mother, Mary Baker of Owensboro; three sisters, Mary Morris, Helen Carter, and Virginia Bowlds, all of Owensboro; two brothers, Bobby Wall and Carl Wall, both of Owensboro; three grandchildren; and three step grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. The Rev. Keith Withrow will officiate. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dickson, Tenn. The Rev. Stan Hamm will officiate.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Michael Edward Lawless

MANDEVILLE, La. -- Michael Edward Lawless, 41, Mandeville, formerly of Henderson, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Lakeview Regional Medical Center here, due to injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.

He worked as a gymnastics instructor for Henderson Gymnastics, Acros Gymnastics and Tri-State Athletic Club. He had also lived in Bowling Green and Evansville.

Survivors include two daughters, Allison Lawless of Lacomb, La., and Shannon Lawless.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington, La. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
