J.R. Baird
STURGIS -- J.R. Baird, 74, Sturgis, died of a heart attack at 11:21 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Morganfield.
He was a member of Shiloh Christian Church and a former Sunday School teacher. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Alice Baird; one daughter, Debbie Davis of Sturgis; one son, Danny Baird of Henderson; three sisters, Jean Nixon of Minier, Ill., and Mary Alice Nixon and Helen Riddle, both of Clinton, Ill.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Christian Church in Union County. The Rev. J.L. Laughlin will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and until service time Wednesday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield.

Henry A. Pitts
PROVIDENCE -- Henry A. Pitts, 87, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at his home.
He was a member of Joe Ellis Masonic Lodge No. 473.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Archie Mae Pitts; and one son, Amzel Pitts.
Survivors include two sons, Tony Pitts of Rogers, Ark., and Don Pitts of Providence; one sister, Janice Pitts of Truman, Ark.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Melton Funeral Home in Providence. The Rev. Rick Oakley will officiate. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery in Clay.

Rev. Harry A. Pullen
OWENSBORO -- Rev. Harry A. Pullen, 83, Owensboro, died Monday, April 16, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health Systems.
He was retired from United Methodist Church as a minister. He was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church Charge Conference. He was a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College and Louisville Presbyterian Seminary. He served churches in Middletown, Madisonville, the Owensboro circuit, and Franklin. He had been a district superintendent in Louisville and was twice a delegate to the General Conference.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Pullen Raney, who died in 1998.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Opal Pullen; one son, Harry A. Pullen III of Owensboro; one brother, Ed Pullen of Henderson; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. The Revs. Howard Willen and Rich Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Scottsville, with graveside services held at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Opal C. Burton
PROVIDENCE -- Opal C. Burton, 78, Providence, died at 11:48 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
She was a devoted wife and mother and a member of Providence General Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, James Burton; two sons, Ed Burton of Crittenden, and Bill Burton of Eddyville; one sister, Gladys Gobin of Providence; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Townsend-Jones Funeral Home in Providence. The Rev. Barry Cullen will officiate. Entombment will be in Lakeview Mausoleum.

Betty L. Patterson
TERRE HAUTE -- Betty L. Patterson, 61, formerly of Morganfield, died at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at her home here.
She was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Terre Haute. She was a Vigo County school bus driver for more than 24 years.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Dewitt Patterson; three daughters, Marcia Ferrell and Tina Patterson, both of Terre Haute, and Valarie Patterson of Indianapolis; two stepdaughters, Jacquelyn Barnett of New Orleans and Shirley Ann Stennis of Meridian, Miss.; three sisters, Mary Smith of Macon, Ga., Isabell Garnett of Morganfield and Eula Drain of Sturgis; one brother, Charles Ferrell of Anchorage, Alaska; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ann Catholic Church in Morganfield. The Rev. Patrick M. Bittel will officiate. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery.

John Michael Womack
John Michael Womack, 8, Henderson, died at 6:13 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2001, at Methodist Hospital.
He was a member of United Church of the Nazarene in Henderson and a member of Laura Rice's second grade class at A.B. Chandler Elementary School in Corydon.
Survivors include his mother, Leigh Ann Yates of Henderson; one brother, Bradley Dale Womack of Henderson; his grandparents, Robert and Judy Duncan of Henderson, John and Paula Womack of Eddyville, and Elmer Carrier of Gary, Ind.; and his great grandparents, Virgil and Louise Womack and Margie Cohron, all of Henderson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The Rev. Keith Griffin will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Otto Schoepflin
Otto Schoepflin, 85, Henderson, died at 10:10 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Methodist Hospital.
A member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, he was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was a supervisor at the former Bear Brand Hosiery Company.
Survivors include his caregivers, Randy Peters and June Simms, both of Henderson; and one sister, Louise McCreary of Michigan.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The Rev. Gordon Morrison will officiate. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery.
