Nina Lavelle Cohron
Nina Lavelle Cohron, 89, Henderson, died at 10:18 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2001, at Redbanks nursing home.
She was a member of Bennett Memorial United Methodist Church and was an avid seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bethel Cohron, who died in May of 2000.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Bingemer of Henderson; two sons, James E. Cohron Sr. of Winder, Ga., and Ronald L. Cohron of Ocala, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bennett Memorial United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bill Pollack will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Barney Utley Sr.
MORGANFIELD -- Barney Utley Sr., 67, Morganfield, died of an apparent heart attack at 3:45 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2001, at his brother's home near here.
Survivors include three sons, Barney Utley Jr. of Morganfield, and Troy Utley and Terry Utley, both of Sturgis; one sister, Carolyn Weber of Tulsa, Okla.; four brothers, Richard Hansbrough, Joe Hansbrough, Donnie Hansbrough and Jackie Hansbrough, all of Morganfield; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. The Rev. Randy Wisdom will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield.
Friends may call until service time today at the funeral home.
Mary E. Higgs
MORGANFIELD -- Mary E. Higgs, 83, Morganfield, died at 8:45 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.
She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Higgs, who died in 1981; one daughter, Ramona Jane Higgs, who died in 1977; and one son, John Hubert Higgs, who died in 1988.
Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Mills of Uniontown, Joyce Clark of Rogers, Ark., and Theresa Blake of Henderson; four sons, Jerry W. Higgs, Carl N. Higgs, and James Damien Higgs, all of Morganfield, and Joseph Raymond Higgs of Kennasaw, Ga.; two sisters, Monie Mae Turly of Henderson and Norma Jean Lowry of Farmville, Va.; one brother, Dave Bolds of Tipton, Ind.; 21 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at St. Ann Catholic Church in Morganfield. The Rev. Patrick M. Bittel will officiate. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery.

Eleanor Hancock "Weency" Shanks
PROVIDENCE -- Eleanor Hancock "Weency" Shanks, 80, Providence, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Shemwell Nursing Home here.
She was a graduate of Bethel Women's College and had worked at Providence Coal Mining Co. and Shanks Sales and Service. She had also taught school in Dixon. In later years, she was assistant manager of Providence Federal Savings and Loan Association.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Maye Taylor Club, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a charter member of the Pakendall Women's Club and a member of the Providence Garden Club for more than 50 years.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, James Arthur Shanks; one sister, Malvina Savage of Cape Charles, Va.; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Melton Funeral Home in Providence. The Rev. Anna Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Providence.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Hampton H. "Buster" Book
Hampton H. "Buster" Book, 88, Henderson, died at 10:35 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2001, at Redbanks nursing home.
He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Temple and a baker for 45 years. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the AFL-CIO Bakers and Confections Union. He was also a member of the Gideons Sunday School Class at Immanuel Baptist Temple.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Lucille Book, who died Oct. 11, 1998; and one son, Charles Book, who died Oct. 26, 1995.
Survivors include one daughter, Kippy Sutton of Henderson; five sons, Frank Book, Ashford Book, and Eddie Book, all of Henderson, Mike Book of Robards, and Steve Book of Zion; one sister, Corrine Kasey of Evansville; one brother, Leroy Book of Evansville; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The Revs. Dane Gray and Andy Ausenbaugh will officiate. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Bobbie Ralph Griffith
Bobbie Ralph Griffith, 53, Henderson, died of cancer at 2:35 a.m. Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Methodist Hospital.
Along with her sister, she was co-owner and co-operator of Buy The Yard Fabric, Inc., in Evansville and formerly in Henderson. She was a 1965 graduate of Fishers High School in Fishers, Ind.
Survivors include one son, Patrick Morris Griffith of Alexandria, Va.; one sister, Virginia Geiger of Henderson; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The Rev. Gordon Morrison will officiate.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Doris Ray Hancock
Doris Ray Hancock, 45, Henderson, died at 10:42 a.m. Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Methodist Hospital.
He was a member of Living Faith Tabernacle and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Sonja Owens Hancock; two daughters, Penny Kay Davis and Bobbi Jo Hancock, both of Henderson; one stepdaughter, Penny Watson of Henderson; two stepsons, Bethel Hensley of Evansville, and Carl Watson of Henderson; one sister, Paula Parrish of Henderson; three grandchildren; and seven step grandchildren.
