OWENSBORO -- May Lucille Ward, 85, Owensboro, formerly of Pleasant Ridge, died at 2:31 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health Systems
She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Reed. A homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and flower gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Frank Ward, who died in 1985; one son, Leroy Ward; and one daughter, Carrie Elizabeth Ward.
Survivors include four daughters, Betty Hart of Hartford and Dorothy Walters, Frances Fendel and Alice "Sally" Moore, all of Owensboro; four sons, Gene Ward and Jerry Ward, both of Buford, Ky., Roger Ward of Naples, Fla., and James Ward of Cleveland, Ohio; one sister, Dorothy Hite of Evansville; one brother, Sonny Hust of Felda, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis Chapel in Owensboro. The Rev. J. W. Haire will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Reed.

Mary Elizabeth Hollowell Burke
Mary Elizabeth Hollowell Burke, 79, Henderson, died at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Methodist Hospital.
She was a member of Hyland Baptist Church where she was the organist, pianist, and Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a former secretary and bookkeeper at Seventh Street Elementary School, Barret Junior High School, and South Junior High School.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Abel F. Burke; one daughter, Jeannie Bentley of Henderson; three sons, John Burke of Nicholasville, Ky., and James R. Burke and the Rev. David "Jeff" Burke, both of Henderson; one brother, Mojo Hollowell of Henderson; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tapp Funeral Home. The Revs. Jeff Coursey and Larryl Huntley will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Hattie E. Terrell
Hattie E. Terrell, 88, Henderson, formerly of Morganfield, died at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Redbanks nursing home.
She was a member of Audubon Baptist Church in Henderson and of the Eastern Star in Morganfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. "Pete" Terrell.
Survivors include one stepson, William S. Terrell of Jacksonville, N.C.; step grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. The Rev. Allen Todd will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Madison, Tenn.

George Harry Vaughan
MARION, Ky. -- George Harry Vaughan, 87, Marion, died at 10:27 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Crittenden County Hospital.
He was a member of Marion Baptist Church, past president of Marion Town & Country Riding Club, and part owner of Phillip's Construction. He was also a retired teacher at Union County Vocational School, a member of Retired Teachers Association, and a former horse show judge.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Isabelle Phillips Vaughan; one daughter, Nancy Vaughan Churchill of Linden, Mich.; three sons, G. Phillip Vaughan of Henderson, D. Keith Vaughan of Indianapolis, and Micheal W. Vaughan of Mount Vernon, Ill; two sisters, Martha Patmore of Marion, and Allie M. Feller of Evansville; four brothers, Barnett Vaughan of Evansville, Bruce Vaughan of Phelan, Calif., Kelley Vaughan of Kansas City, Mo., and Gavin Vaughan of Hobbs, N.M.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion. The Rev. Darrell Clarke will officiate. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery in Marion.

Charles William Manion
AMHERST, Va. -- Charles William Manion, 78, formerly of Henderson and Owensboro, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at his home here.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and retired as a Lt. Colonel in the U.S.A.F. Reserves. While in Owensboro, he was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. He was also a member of the Rotary International, the Investigators Club of Owensboro, Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, the 49th Fighter Group Association, and the P-38 National Association. Before his retirement, he was a professional photographer.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Manion; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Manion of Fort Worth, Texas; one son, Charles David Manion of Amherst; one sister, Patricia Ann Manion Lewis of Jacksonville, N.C.; one brother, James Edward Manion II of Temple Hills, Md.; and two granddaughters.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Whitten Funeral Home in Lynchburg is in charge of arrangements.

John Lewis "Dump" Stott
John Lewis "Dump" Stott, 47, Henderson, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Methodist Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Stott; one daughter, Kenisha Stott of Henderson; two sons, John L. Stott Jr. of Evansville and Reginald Stott of Arkansas; five sisters, Joan Blane and Martha Hazelwood, both of Evansville, Fathey M. Dixon of Owensboro, Glen Dora Smith of Henderson and Donnetta Stott of Lexington; one brother, Luzon Stott of Henderson; and one grandchild.
Arrangements are pending at Mason Brothers Audubon Chapel in Henderson.
Margaret Peak
Margaret Peak, 90, Henderson, died at 2:35 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Sam Houston Gardens Nursing Home in Houston, Texas.
She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Henderson. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and restoring furniture.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Peak, who died July 18, 1989.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Crafton of Houston; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The Rev. Alan Chamness will officiate. Entombment will be in Fernwood Mausoleum.
