The Rev. Ed Jennings
FLORENCE, Texas -- The Rev. Ed Jennings, 76, Florence, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, in Temple, Texas. He was a native of Baskett.
He was a veteran of World War II, starting his career with the Navy at the age of 17 and serving four years. A navigator on the USS Lexington aircraft carrier, he steered the first American ship into Tokyo Bay following Japan's surrender. During his time in the Navy, he received numerous medals and served in many battles and campaigns in the Pacific. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, while serving as pastor of Riverside Baptist Church in Stephenville, Texas, later receiving his degree in theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He then moved to Florence where he served as the pastor of the First Baptist Church for 22 years until his retirement. After retirement, he served as pastor of the Joppa Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Wayne Jennings.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mitzi Jennings; one daughter, Jean E. Montgomery of Alpine, Texas; one son, Edward Robert Jennings of Marfa, Texas; two sisters, Joan Payne of Evansville and Bobette Wood of Clay; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Florence. The Revs. Jarvis Philpot, Max Johnson, John Rudd, and Nelson Wilhelm will officiate. Burial will be in Florence City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the church.

Regina Roberts
Regina Roberts, 70, Henderson, formerly of Reed, died at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Methodist Hospital.
She was a member of The Dawn Bible Students Association.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Franklin; two daughters, Cynthia Farris and Kathy Owens, both of Henderson; two brothers, John Sutherland of Owensboro and Jimmy Sutherland of Florida; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.
The Rev. Ralph Chaney will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and until service time Friday at the funeral home.

J.T. "Doc" Green
J.T. "Doc" Green, 80, Henderson, died at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Medco Center of Henderson.
He was a member of Airline Baptist Church and had worked in maintenance at Greenview Way Apartments.
Survivors include his wife, Lula; two daughters, Nancy Eckert of Evansville and Peggy Watkins of Henderson; three sons, Jerry Green, Bobby J. Green and Timothy W. Green, all of Henderson; two sisters, Eudena Sauer of Henderson and Lou Butler of Evansville; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The Rev. David Latham will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Leander "Lee" Cosby
Leander "Lee" Cosby, 67, Henderson, died at 10:38 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at Redbanks nursing home.
He was a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church and attended Henderson County schools. He was employed for many years as a mechanic and wrecker driver at Dixie Auto Salvage.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Cosby Anderson of High Point, N.C., and Glenda Cosby Fletcher and Tonya Darlene Cosby, both of Henderson; three sons, Leanis Odell Cosby Jr., Charles LaVelle Cosby and Steve Laran Cosby, all of Henderson; six sisters, Vivian Burke of Cleveland, Ohio, Georgia Ann Wells and Barbara Jean Daniels, both of Indianapolis, and Mary Gladys Tapp, Alice Faye Tapp and Joyce Baker, all of Henderson; one brother, Purtis Cosby Jr. of Evansville; 10 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Seventh Street Baptist Church. The Rev. Anthony Brooks will officiate. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon Wednesday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Donald Ray Tapp, Troy Tapp, Julius Dennis Jr., Steve Hayden, Postell Cosby and Tony Hatchett.

Bobby Gene Coffman
Bobby Gene Coffman, 69, Henderson, died at 12:10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at Methodist Hospital.
He retired from Big Rivers Electric Corp. in 1992 after 19 years.
He was a U.S. Marine veteran of two years and spent another 18 years in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1972 as a first sergeant.
He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and attended Immanuel Baptist Temple.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Nellie Coffman; two sons, Robert E. "Bobby" Coffman of Henderson and Kelly S. Coffman of Smith Mills; and two grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.
Mary V. Kavanaugh
Mary V. Kavanaugh, 88, Corydon, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at her home.
She was a member of Corydon United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elden Kavanaugh, who died in 1956, and by four sons, Oscar Payne Kavanaugh, who died in 1964, Quincy Earl Kavanaugh, who died in 1941, Harrison Kavanaugh, who died in 1999, and Raniel Kavanaugh, who died in 2001.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ruth Croy of Willow Springs, Mo., and Cynthia Krutz and Gloria Kellough, both of Corydon; six sons, Daniel Kavanaugh and Elden M. Kavanaugh, both of Corydon, James David Kavanaugh of Cairo, Thomas N. Kavanaugh of St. Claire Shore, Mich., and Darrell Kavanaugh and Robert Kavanaugh, both of Henderson; 25 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at United Church of the Nazarene in Henderson. The Rev. Keith Griffin will officiate. Burial will be in Corydon Cemetery.
