Dorothy Thurman
UNIONTOWN -- Dorothy Thurman, 79, Uniontown, died of heart failure at 7:05 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Thurman, who died in 1990.
Survivors include her caregiver, Mike Duncan of Morganfield; two granddaughters, Lovisa Garcia-Diaz and Angela Robinson, both of Henderson; one grandson, Brian Morris of Uniontown; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. The Rev. Chris Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in Uniontown City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Gary Dana Hall
STURGIS -- Gary Dana Hall, 48, died of pneumonia at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at his home here.
He was a retired miner for Peabody Coal Co. and was formerly employed at Elkwood Golf Course. He also was a former member of the Jaycees and coached women's league softball.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Teresa Holdman, who died in 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Hall; two sons, Jason Hall of Morganfield and Dana Hall of Sturgis; his mother, Anna Hall of Sturgis; one sister, Kay Clark of Columbus, Ohio; three brothers, Mike Hall of Morganfield, Bruce Hall of Sturgis and Terry Hall of Corydon.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. The Rev. Phil Willingham will officiate. Burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.
Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today and until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Leukemia Society of America.
Opie Elizabeth Long Nunn
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Opie Elizabeth Long Nunn, 99, Albuquerque, formerly of Sturgis, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Albuquerque Manor Nursing Home in Albuquerque.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis.
Survivors include one nephew, James L. Long of Casa Granda, Ariz., and great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held in Albuquerque. Burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.
There will be no local visitation.
Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis is in charge of arrangements.
James A. Huff
OWENSBORO -- James A. Huff, 73, Owensboro, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System here.
He was retired from Green River Steel, where he worked on the Engineering Drafting Board. He was a member of Crabtree Avenue Baptist Church in Owensboro. He enjoyed electronics.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce L. Golday Huff; two half-sisters, Martine Ballard and Alma Head, both of Owensboro; and one half-brother, William T. Westerfield of Owensboro.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson. The Rev. Greg Faulls will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

Louise Cox Hamman
Louise Cox Hamman, 90, Corydon, died at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at Methodist Hospital.
She was a member of Robards Christian Church and a retired telephone operator for GTE.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Hamman.
Survivors include one nephew, Sam "Sonny" Cox of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon. The Rev. Bob Fulcher will officiate. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole.

Charles Alford "Chuck" Lowery
MORGANFIELD -- Charles Alford "Chuck" Lowery, 70, Morganfield, died of an apparent heart attack at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at Union County Methodist Hospital.
He was in the U.S. Air Force and Air Police. He was employed by Joiner Ready To Wear. He was a city marshall in Golconda, Ill., and retired from Earle C. Clements Job Corps Center. He was also the former president of the Morganfield Lions Club and was past Lion of the Year.
Survivors include three daughters, Annette Tapp of Sturgis, Crystal Robison of Morganfield, and Gail Lowery of Lexington; two sisters, Sarah Doener of DuQuoin, Ill., and Grethel Warren of Golconda; one brother, James Lowery of Golconda; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. Burial will be in Peter's Creek Cemetery near Elizabethtown, Ill.

Louise Greenwell Mills
MORGANFIELD -- Louise Greenwell Mills, 85, Morganfield, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.
She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and St. Agnes Altar Society. She also drove the bookmobile for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmore Mills, who died in 1996; one daughter, Wanda Rudd, who died in 1999; and one son, Johnny Mills, who died in 1979.
Survivors include two daughters, Vickie M. Girten of Morganfield and Sarah Rita Wilson of Sacramento, Ky.; five sons, Charles Mills and Terry Mills, both of Uniontown, and Robert Mills, Donnie Mills, and Wayne Mills, all of Morganfield; one sister, Alyene Humphery of Fort Pierce, Fla.; three brothers, J.M. Greenwell, Marion Greenwell, and Drury Greenwell, all of Morganfield; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Uniontown. The Rev. Bob Willett will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Uniontown.
Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Saturday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, where prayers will be held at 7 p.m. tonight.
