UNIONTOWN -- Jesse Decker, 69, Uniontown, died of cancer at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Union County Methodist Hospital in Morganfield.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Uniontown VFW Post No. 5488.
Survivors include three brothers, Elvie Decker of Smith Mills, James Decker of Sturgis and William Decker of Dover, N.J.; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield.

Minnie Ann Whistle
RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. -- Minnie Ann Whistle, 75, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at her home here.
She was a retired office worker at Logan Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guthrie Whistle.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Hayes and Annette Lear, both of Russellville; three sisters, Martha Dempsey of South Carolina, Frankie Burnett of Hallsville, Ky., and Ella Moore of Indiana; two brothers, Morris Basinger of Indiana and Christopher Basinger of California; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home in Henderson. The Rev. Jerry Pearcy will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery.

Ben S. Collins
Ben S. Collins, 87, Henderson, died at 9:43 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and was retired from C.E. O'Neal Oil Company after 38 years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Francis C. Collins, who died in 1982.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Flora Collins; one daughter, Edna Faye Collins of Henderson; two sons, William "Bill" Collins of Geneva, and Hubert L. Collins of Henderson; two brothers, O.D. Collins of Calhoun, Ky., and Russell D. Collins of Evansville; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. The Revs. Andy Garner and Ray Werline will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday.
Carl E. Whitsell
SLAUGHTERS -- Carl E. Whitsell, 80, Slaughters, died at 7:05 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
He was a retired farmer who also worked for the Kentucky Highway Department for 10 years. He was a member of the Sebree VFW post and a World War II U.S. Army veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of Mount Pleasant Methodist Church in Slaughters.
Survivors include his wife, Tina Lee Rakestraw Whitsell; one daughter, Judy Pauley of Madisonville; one son, Edmond Whitsell of Slaughters; two sisters, Lena James of Chula Vista, Calif., and Donia Charbaneu of Kansas; one brother, Robert Whitsell of Madisonville; two grandchildren; and one step granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon. The Rev. Calvin Cornelius and Bro. Joey Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery.

Harmon E. "Peter" Davis Sr.
MORGANFIELD -- Harmon E. "Peter" Davis Sr., 78, Morganfield, died of heart failure Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He worked for Peabody Coal Co. Camp No. 1 in Morganfield for more than 46 years as a miner. He also worked at the Earle C. Clements Job Corps Center. He was a member of Carr's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Morganfield, where he was a deacon for more than 30 years. He was assistant superintendent of the male chorus at the church for more than 20 years. He was past worthy patron of Zilla Chapter No. 43 Order of Eastern Star, a member of Eureka Masonic Lodge No. 99 in Morganfield, and the NAACP.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Davis; seven daughters, Brenda Kinard, Zalana Davis, and Sonja Minor Davis, all of Morganfield, Dorothy Babbage and Doris Jean Mack, both of Uniontown, Tamala Spencer of Fayetteville, N.C., and Patricia Wilson of Paducah; four sons, Harmon "Pete" Davis of Morganfield, James Davis and Charles Davis, both of Savannah, Calif., and Caulbert Davis of Paducah; two sisters, Bellina Rose and Juanita Walters, both of Indianapolis; one brother, Conway Davis of Indianapolis; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Carr's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Lawrence Howard Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Bryan Edward Hughes
MORGANFIELD -- Bryan Edward Hughes, 18, Morganfield, died in a vehicle accident at 2:45 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, in Morganfield.
He worked as a tree trimmer at Carlisle Tree Service and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Clay.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Lysa Faye Householder and Dale Householder of Dixon; his father and stepmother, Tommy Lee Hughes and Kathy Hughes of Beaver Dam; his grandparents, Hugh and Janice Schroader of Jacksonville, Fla., Judy and Raymond Householder of Dixon, and Christine Watson of Centertown, Ky.; his great-grandmothers, Lorene Mason of Owensboro and Alma Sellers of Beaver Dam; two sisters, Andrea Kirk of Hartford, Ky., and Erica Householder of Providence; and three brothers, Billy Joe Hughes and Tommy Lee Hughes II, both of Owensboro, and John Matthew Smith of Dixon.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon. The Rev. Larry Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Dixon.

George Melvin Rider
UPTON, Ky. -- George Melvin Rider, 85, Upton, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Kensington Manor in Elizabethtown.
He was owner of Rider's Service Station for 60 years. As mayor and a businessman he helped bring municipal water to Upton. He was involved in the purchase of the first fire truck for the town.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Norene Rider.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy R. Brown of Elizabethtown; two sons, Doug Rider of Avon Lake, Ohio, and Terry Rider of Henderson; one sister, Eleanor Rider Walker of Easton, Maine; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Upton Baptist Church. The Revs. Rich Lloyd and John Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Upton Cemetery.
