Joseph Earl Butler
Joseph Earl Butler, 78, Henderson, died at 6:55 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon Emeritus. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was as a Technical Sergeant in the 83rd Infantry Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for bravery.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Butler; two daughters, Linda Flahardy and Joyce Pruitt, both of Henderson; one son, Kenneth Butler of Allentown, Pa.; one brother, Carmen Butler of Marion, Ky.; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The Revs. Alan Chamness and Robert Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mildred Mason
STURGIS -- Mildred Mason, 91, Sturgis, died at 2:15 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, at Union County Methodist Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Mason, who died in 1982.
Survivors include one son, Larry Mason of Rodanthe, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield.
Shirley Ann Miller Mayes
SMYRNA, Tenn. -- Shirley Ann Miller Mayes, 64, formerly of DeKoven, Ky., died Friday, June 15, 2001, at her home here.
She was a member of Highland Heights Church of Christ in Smyrna.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Mayes; three sons, Michael Mayes of Murfreesboro, Tenn., William Mayes of Erwin, Tenn., and Todd Mayes of Antioch, Tenn.; two sisters, Janice Sue Thene of Henderson and Carolyn Faye Bumpass of Morganfield; two brothers, Terry Glenn Miller of Uniontown and Gregory Scott Miller of Morganfield; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. Bro. Sam Belo will officiate. Burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.

Eugene B. Konsler
HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. -- Eugene B. Konsler, 83, Highland Park, formerly of Henderson, died of cancer Friday, June 8, 2001, at his home.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran who served in the European Theater.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Konsler, who died April 14, 2001.
Survivors include two sons, Marc Konsler of Highland Park and Rodney Konsler of Libertyville, Ill.; one sister, Ann Hargis of Henderson; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Private family services will be held at a later date.

David Wayne "Sardo" Givens
David Wayne "Sardo" Givens, 54, Little Dixie, died from complications of diabetes at 3:20 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Medco Center of Henderson.
He was a member of Dixie United Methodist Church and Moose Lodge No. 732.
Survivors include one son, Billy "Ox" Givens of Henderson; three sisters, Agnes McClanahan of Henderson, Mary Etta Griffin of Corydon, and Dorothy Gibson of Mason, Ohio; one brother, Rudy Givens Jr. of Little Dixie; one grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Tapp Funeral Home. Burial will be in Corydon Cemetery in Corydon.

Pearley Turner
MORGANFIELD -- Pearley Turner, 73, Morganfield, died from complications of pneumonia at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, June 10, 2001, in Tulare, Calif.
She was a member of Morganfield Church of Christ and worked as a nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Turner Sr., who died in 1994.
Survivors include seven sons, James Turner of Tulare, Calif., Nick Turner Jr. of Helena, Mon., Felix Turner of Baker Fork, Ky., Harold Turner of Newport, Ore., Danny Turner of Bakersfield, Calif., Donny Turner of Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada, and Roger Turner of Eldorado, Ill.; one half-sister, Fairy Causey of Cutshin, Ky.; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. The Rev. Sam Belo will officiate. Burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.

Sister Teresa Carmel Whittinghill
LOUISVILLE -- Sister Teresa Carmel Whittinghill, 94, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Nazareth Home here.
She was a member of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth for 75 years. She served as a music teacher, principal, and clerical worker in Arkansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, and Ohio. She was principal and music teacher at St. Frances in Owensboro, office worker at St. Stephen School in Owensboro, music teacher at Holy Name in Henderson, and music teacher at St. Francis de Sales in Paducah. She served in many missions, including Maria Hall, Nazareth Home in Louisville, and Russell Hall in Bardstown.
Survivors include two sisters, Frances Hayden of Henderson, and Edna Mae Cecil of Owensboro; nieces and nephews.
Services were held Thursday at St. Vincent Church in Nazareth, Ky.
The Rev. Gary Young officiated. Burial was in Nazareth Cemetery.

James Morris Reynolds
SULLIVAN, Ky. -- James Morris Reynolds, 81, died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at his home here.
He was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church. He was also a World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jean Harlan, who died in 1967.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ruth Emma Reynolds; one daughter, Ruth Ann Parker of Sullivan; one son, James Marshall Reynolds of Lufton, Ohio; his stepmother, Josephine Reynolds of Olaton, Ky.; one sister, Eddie Lou Bradshaw of Beaver Dam, Ky.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. The Rev. Noble Cobb will officiate. Burial will be in Pythian Ridge in Sturgis.
