Roscoe Sweatt, 74, Eastbrook, died Jan. 20, 2006, at his residence.
A native of Kildav, Sweatt was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He believed in the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe Edward Sweatt and Florence Copeland Sweatt; one brother, Charles Sweatt; and two sisters: Christine Hailey and Hazel Mitchell.
Survivors include two daughters: Doris Ann Sweatt and Sam Fluker, Harlan; Bobbie Jean Simpson and husband, Larry, Nicholasville; two step-children: Gwen Turner and husband, Terry, Harlan; and Victor Taylor and wife, Michelle, Virginia; one sister, Australia Rhodes, Harlan; 11 grandchildren: Tony Sweatt; Ericka Young and husband, Reggie; Shawn Sweatt; Anika Johnson and husband, Jason; Erika Simpson; Micah Simpson, Brandi Body; Terry Turner Jr.; Cameron Taylor; Malijah Taylor; and Tyrik Turner; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; cousins and friends; and a special niece, Janet Rhodes.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the church with Pastor Darrell Washington officiating.
Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery with military rites performed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Norse 'Whitey' Turner, 67, Loyall, died Jan. 24, 2006, at the Harlan ARH Hospital.
A native of Harlan, Turner was a retired factory worker and believed in the Protestant faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Ellen Napier Turner.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Turner, Corbin; three daughters: Jennifer Cole and husband, Allen, Williamsburg; Casondra Turner, Corbin; and Mary Ann Turner, Indiana; one stepdaughter, Jessica Lien, Corbin; a grandson, Gabriel Cole, Williamsburg; three brothers: Joe Turner, Tampa, Fla.; Van Turner, Loyall; and Mitchell Turner, Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Dana Bays, Middlesboro; and several other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.

Loyal K. Wilson M.D., 93, Harlan, died Jan. 30, 2006, at his residence.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., he was a retired orthopedic surgeon from Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital and the Daniel Boone Clinic where he served as chief of orthopedic surgery for several years. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a veteran of the U.S. Army as a Medical Officer during World War II and he believed in the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wilson M.D. and Olive Wilson; his wife, Virginia Langston Wilson; and a brother, Donald Wilson M.D.
Survivors include two daughters: Penny Wilson Taylor and husband, William S. Sr., Lancaster; and Loyanne Wilson Kranansky and husband, Tim, Davis, Cal.; six grandchildren: Cathryn Taylor Burnette and husband, Richard, Beckley, W.V.; William S. Taylor Jr., Baxter; Suzanne Taylor Applegate and husband, Mark, Florence; John Taylor, Richmond; and Katie and Kai Kranansky, both of Davis, Cal.; one great-grandchild, Laney Elizabeth Burnette, Beckley, W.V.; special friends: Fred and Loretta McCurry, Evarts; and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Ditty officiating.
Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery.

Jennifer Allison Blair, 21, Partridge, died Jan. 22, 2006, from injuries sustained in a automobile accident.
A native of Harlan, Blair was employed for the past four years by Civic Development and was a student at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. She believed in the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Everett Raleigh; and Kyle and Nancy Shepherd Blair.
Survivors include her mother, Jenny Rennea Raleigh Blair, Partridge; her father, Michael Blair, Partridge; her grandmother, Maude Gibbs Raleigh, Partridge; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held today from 5 to 9 p.m. at Tri-City Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Elder Harvey Creech and Elder Bill Maggard officiating.
Burial will follow at Raleigh and Lewis Cemetery.

Peggy Sue Patterson Bledsoe, 52, Rosspoint, died Jan. 23, 2006, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
A native of Harlan, Bledsoe was a homemaker and believed in the Holiness faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Billie Rhea Patterson; a sister, Flora Jean Bledsoe; and two brothers: William Dale Patterson and Michael Chris Patterson.
Survivors include her mother, Audrey Patterson, Coxton; a son, Edward Darrell Bledsoe Jr., Rosspoint; three sisters: Mary Ford, Verda; Linda Brock, Coxton; and Paula Jones and husband, Dusty, Verda; five brothers: David Patterson and wife, Martha, Dizney; Kenneth Patterson and wife, Pauline, London; Tim Patterson and wife, Velma; Billy Patterson and Jimmy Patterson, both of Coxton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A native of Letcher County, she was a retired school teacher having taught for 31 years. She was a member of the Gordon Fire Department, Retired Teacher's Association and Sandhill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, McKinley and Nancy Lewis Sparkman; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Merlin Bradley, Gordon; two children: Charles Stacey Bradley, Gordon; and Kimberly Sue Cornett, Cumberland; six grandchildren: Charles McKinley Bradley; Hunter Bradley Cornett; Whitney, Nathaniel and Philip Gilliam; and Dylan Cornett; two brothers: Arnold Riddle and Colon Sparkman; and three sisters: Oakie Powell, Lonnie Cornett and Hazel Skidmore.

She was a native of Benham.

Survivors include her siblings: Mary Catherine McCarthy and husband, Charles, Cincinnati, Ohio; Dorothy Perkins and husband, Steve, Noblesville, Ind.; Ann Hart, Corbin; Nyoka Hall and husband, Darrell, Whitesburg; Donald Carroll, London; Clifford Carroll and wife, Doraine, Indianapolis, Ind.; Johnny Carroll and wife, Tonnie, Putney; and Douglas Carroll, Corbin; many beloved nieces and nephews; two aunts: Mary Carroll and Elizabeth 'Boots' Davis, both of Barbourville; and one uncle, Cecil Brown, Michigan.
