Tammy Peace, 38, Bobs Creek, died Jan. 24, 2006, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
A native of Cawood, Peace was born Nov. 10, 1968. She was a graduate from Pineville Technical College and a former L.P.N. at the Harlan ARH Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her father, Maynard Middleton; her grandparents, Eva and Tom Earls; and an uncle, Virgil Earls.
Survivors include her husband, Timothy Peace, Bobs Creek; two sons: Joseph Peace, Bobs Creek; and Michael Earls, Cawood; her mother, Opal Earls, Cawood; three sisters: Teresa Haynes and husband, James, Cawood; Eva Noe and husband, Todd, Cawood; and Lisa Earls, Maynardville, Tenn.; one brother, James Earls, Cawood; three nephews: Chris Noe, Daniel Noe and Josh Noe; one niece, Natasha Haynes; and several other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Doug Daniels officiating.
Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery at Keith.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Clarence E. Pridemore Sr.
Clarence E. Pridemore Sr., 74, Evarts, died Jan. 29, 2006, at the East Tennessee Baptist Hospital in Knoxville.
A retired steel bridge construction employee, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a member of the United Steel Workers Union, a Kentucky Colonel and an avid bear watcher. He was a native and lifelong resident of Harlan County. He believed in the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Esther Cowan Pridemore, his father, Bill Pridemore, and two brothers: Arthur L. Pridemore and Ernest Pridemore.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Carol Farley Pridemore, Evarts; a son, Eddie Pridemore, Knoxville; a sister, Alice Boggs and husband, Bobby, Woodbridge, Va.; two sisters-in-law: Bernice Pridemore, Woodbridge, and Judy Pridemore, Evarts; special friends: Tammy Snapp and Jack Blanton; nieces and nephews: Kim Lund and husband, Mike; Arthur Pridemore Jr. and wife, Marietta; Pam Wilson and husband, Tom; Ernie Pridemore Jr. and wife, Gabi; Jon Pridemore and wife, Melinda; Mari Blevins and husband, Travis; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Evarts Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Buchanan and the Rev. Buddy Simpson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with military rites performed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Marvin J. Lipfird, Charles Ross, Rick Shelton, Troy Smith, Ernie Pridemore Jr., Jon Pridemore and David Pridemore.

Yvonne McCreary Rockwell, 70, Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Harlan, died Jan. 21, 2006.
She was a member of Halls Christian Church and retired from Beaver Brook Country Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elle Ree Speer and Corway McCreary.
Survivors include two daughters: Jackie Quinton and husband, Danny; and Marla Armstrong and husband, Mike; a son, Michael Rockwell; two granddaughters: Amy Wailer and husband, Lynn; and Alisha George; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Tyler, McKenzie, Cody and another due in June; special daughter, Danielle Nelson; a sister, Joann Daniels; and three brothers: Palmer McCreary and wife, Sue; James Speer and wife, Sandy; and Robert Speer and wife, Judy; many nieces and nephews; lifelong friends: Louise, Peggy and Wilma 'Wimpy'; and special friends: Mary Jones and Terry Bright.
Visitation was held Monday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
Funeral services were conducted Monda at the funeral home with Larry Woods officiating.
Burial will be private.

Leslie Saylor, 33, Harlan, died Jan. 13, 2006, at Harlan ARH Hospital.
He believed in the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Hall.
Survivors include his mother, Bessie Saylor, Harlan; a son, Aaron Saylor, Harlan; five siblings: Rocky Saylor, Harlan; Penny Goshen and husband, Frank, Harlan; Robin Swanaon and husband, Billy, New Tazewell, Tenn.; Doyle Saylor and wife, Allison, Morristown, Tenn.; and Scotty Saylor, Harlan; a nephew, Joseph Saylor, Morristown, Tenn.; two nieces: Kayla Saylor, Morristown, Tenn.; and Samantha Goshen, Harlan; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday at Creech-Durham Funeral Home.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. Herstel Belcher officiated.
Burial followed in Bens Branch Cemetery.

John Gaston Smith

John Gaston Smith, 71, Livingston, Tenn., died Jan. 20, 2006, at Cookeville Regional Hospital following an illness.
Born May 26, 1934, in Clay County, Tenn., Smith has lived in Livingston for the past two years.
Following his graduation from Celina High School in Clay County, Smith married
Betty Sue Copas and joined the United States Air Force. He served his country for four years during the Korean War.
Following his discharge from the Air Force, he moved to Cumberland County, Ky., to start a farm, which later became a hobby that he always enjoyed.
In addition to farming, his hobbies included Tennessee Walking Horses and coon hunting.
Following the sale of his farm, Smith became a funeral home director and continued in the funeral profession until his retirement. He and his brother, Jimmy Kay Smith, co-founded Livingston Funeral Home in Tennessee.
He later moved to Byrdstown, Tenn., and founded Byrdstown Funeral Home, which he operated until 1976.
After the sale of Byrdstown Funeral Home, he purchased Mount Pleasant Funeral Home in Harlan.
He lived in Kentucky operating the funeral home for several years after selling the business to his son.
Smith moved back to Tennessee and purchased Martin Funeral Homes in LaFollette and Lake City. Following the sale of both the Martin Funeral Homes, Smith bought Burris Funeral Home in Crossville and operated it until his retirement.
He was a member of the Livingston Church of Christ, a member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association and a former member of the Tennessee and Kentucky Funeral Directors Association.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lou Juana Smith; his parents, Haston Smith and Martha R. Nevins Smith; a brother, Dale Lee Smith; and two sisters: Jean Teeples and Anna Sue Ellison.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Betty Sue Copas Smith, Livingston, Tenn.; a daughter, Nancy Dyer, Sparta, Tenn.; three sons: John G. Smith Jr., Cookeville, Tenn.; Jimmy Smith and wife, Brenda, Oliver Springs, Tenn.; and Gregory Smith, Livingston, Tenn.; five grandchildren: Allen Smith, Cookeville, Tenn.; Ashley Scott, Sparta, Tenn.; Rebekah Smith, Oliver Springs, Tenn.; and Britney Smith and Caleb Smith, both of Livingston, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren: Ashlyn Smith, Adian Smith and Jaden Scott; and three brothers: Jimmy Kay Smith and wife, Peggy, Sparta, Tenn.; Bobby Smith, Allons, Tenn; and Billy Smith, West Virginia.
Visitation was held Saturday at Livingston Church of Christ.
Burial and graveside services were held Sunday at the Pitcock Cemetery in the Oak Grove community if Clay County. Henry Colbert and Kirk Talley officiated.

Gary Lowell Stewart, 53, Hazard, formerly of Verda, died Jan. 21, 2006, at Hazard ARH Hospital.
A native of Verda, Stewart had lived in Harlan County most of his life before moving to Hazard.
He was a member of the Verda First Baptist Church and the blacksmith club.
Stewart had worked in construction in the coal industry.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Combs Stewart, Hazard; a son, Matthew Henry Stewart, Hazard; his parents, Jewell Miniard Stewart and Lowell Desmond Stewart, Verda; a father-in-law, Kirby L. Combs, Hazard; six sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; aunts and uncles: Eloise Hicks and Vivian Hatfield, both of Dayton, Ohio; Anna Ruth Backer, Florence; Lois LaFontaine, of Virginia; Glenn Stewart, Lela Miniard, Gladys Miniard, Glenna Habick and Larry Habick, all of Louisville; Alfreda Kenney, Seattle; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday at Evarts Funeral Home.

Wilburn 'Bud' Stewart, 74, Baxter, died Jan. 17, 2006, at Harlan ARH Hospital.
A native of Harlan, Stewart was retired from Nabisco Inc. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Wesley Evangelical Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Byrd and Hattie Stewart; two brothers: Orbin 'Tom' Stewart and Raymond Stewart; a sister, Melvia Lawson; and a grandson, Jimmy Skaggs.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella Stewart, Baxter; a stepson, Jim Skaggs and wife, Bonnie, Englewood, Ohio; a brother, Billy Joe Stewart, McDonald, Tenn.; two sisters: Leona Howard and husband, Nolan, Baxter; and Gracie Stevens, Goshen, Ohio; one granddaughter; four great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Brian Eckhardt officiating.
Burial will follow in Howard Cemetery.
