Alice Saylor, 77, Evarts, died Oct. 30, 2005, at Harlan ARH Hospital.
She had been a resident of Britthaven of Tri-Cities for the past several years. Saylor believed in the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David C. Rivers and Sarah Caudill Rivers; a sister, Grace Beard Lanham; and two half-sisters, Helen Webster and Marie Mohn.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Moran Saylor, Evarts; a son, Ted Saylor and wife, Adina, Cumberland; two daughters, Lena Hayes and husband, Johnny; and Carolyn Smith and husband, Larry, all of Harlan; three grandchildren: Melissa Hall and husband, Earl Wayne, Evarts; Morgan Saylor, Cumberland; and Kevin Hayes and wife, Shannon, Evarts; four great-grandchildren: Brittany Saylor, Cody Hall, MacKenzie Hayes and Brayden Hayes; special niece, Jeannie Clem, Putney; and a special nephew, Charles Beard, Louisville.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Evarts Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be immediately following the visitation with the Rev. John D. Lambert and the Rev. Gerald Jones officiating.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Evarts Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be members of the Locust Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Edna Miracle Saylor, 88, Coldiron, died Nov. 7, 2005, at her residence.
She was born June 7, 1917, in Harlan County. She was a retired owner and operator of a restaurant in Middlesboro, and she believed in the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nancy Miracle; her husband, John M. Saylor; two brothers, Barney Miracle and Holbert Miracle; and two sisters, Rhoda Blanton and Vina Saylor.
Survivors include two sisters, Roxy Collett, Coldiron; and Myrtle Miracle Brock, Florida; nieces and nephews: Mary Brock, Mark Saylor, Pat Howard, Sharon Thompson, George Saylor, Brian Saylor, Matthew Saylor, Barbara Saylor, Matthew B. Saylor, Charlie Saylor, Eugene Miracle, Johnny Collett, Catherine Collett, Tommy Collett and Debbie Collett; and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday in the chapel of the Mount Pleasant Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Carmical officiating.
Burial will follow in the Green Hills Cemetery in Middlesboro.
Pallbearers will be Mark Saylor, Brian Saylor, George Saylor, Matthew B. Saylor, Matthew Saylor and Charlie Saylor.

Teddie Middleton Sergent, 78, Baxter, died Nov. 13, 2005, at her residence.
She was a secretary for J. Herald Sergent Construction for 31 years and was a life-long member of the Poor Fork Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Hazel Howard Middleton; a son, Harold Lee Sergent; a brother, Frank Sergent; and a sister, Peggy Jane Wilder.
Survivors include her husband, J. Herald Sergent, Baxter; a son, Kenneth Sergent and wife, Karen, Baxter; a daughter-in-law, Jenny Sergent; three sisters: Lucille Miracle, Baxter; Carol Bennett, Verda; and Margaret Hammons, Johnson City, Tenn.; her grandchildren: Malissa Lewis and husband, Otis; Wendy Clem and husband, Jeremy; Dallas Sergent and wife, Marlene; Denise Lee and husband, Jeremy; Allen Sergent and wife, Prindle; Jamie Sergent and wife, Candice; and Matthew Sergent and wife, Tonya; her great-grandchildren: Tucker Lewis, Hunter Lewis, Eli Lewis, Alex Sergent, Sarah Sergent, Emily Sergent, Lily Clem, Dallas Sergent III, Cameron Sergent and Jenna Grace Sergent.

Funeral services are today at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with James Forrester officiating.
Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Middleton Cemetery in Baxter.

Donald Lee Stewart, 60, Baxter, died Oct. 31, 2005, at the V.A. Hospital in Lexington.
A native of Harlan County, Stewart was a retired coal miner for Harlan Cumberland Coal and a disabled U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam in the 101st Airborne Division. He believed in the Church of Christ faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Stewart and Nellie Sergent Clem Stewart; a brother, Greene Stewart; six sisters: Audie Sammons, Lyda Howard, Sue Lewis, Mary Pennington, Nannie Cornett and Vina Griffith.
Survivors include his wife, Chloe Ray Stewart, Baxter; four children: Cathy York and husband, Gregg, Baxter; Robin Scott Stewart and Jason Todd Stewart, both of Tennessee; and Wayne Sturgill and wife, Christy, Tennessee; two brothers, Charlie Stewart and wife, Pat, Baxter; and Fred Clem, London; four sisters: Hattie Saylor, Baxter; Flettie Howard, Indiana; Clara Lewis, Putney; and Adda Stewart, Tennessee; four grandchildren: Gregory York, Christina York, Hannah Sturgill and Sarah Sturgill, all of Baxter; a brother-in-law, Fred Sammons, Grayson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Harlan Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Harry Coultis officiating.
Burial will be in the Howard Cemetery at Rosspoint.

Frank G. Taylor, 88, Big Laurel, died Oct. 30, 2005, at Britthaven of the Tri-Cities.
A native of Lee County, Va., Taylor had lived in Harlan County for the past 80 years.
He was employed by Modern Bakery and retired from the National Coil Electric Company.
Taylor was a charter member of the Big Laurel Baptist Church. He loved hunting, fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Louise Creech Taylor, his wife, Grace Lewis Taylor; a son, Kenneth Taylor, two brothers: John and Henry Taylor; a sister, Stella Taylor Lamoreaux; and a son-in-law, Ted. N. Thompson.
Survivors include a daughter, Anne Taylor Thompson, Frankfort; a son, Claude F. Taylor, Miami; a daughter-in-law, Susie Burkhart Taylor, Big Laurel; a sister, Delia A. Lewis, Hamilton, Ohio; and two granddaughters: Stephanie A. Cobb, Richmond; and Jennifer Taylor, Miami.
Visitation will take place Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Mary Evelyn Taylor, 74, Rosspoint, died Nov. 7, 2005, at her residence.
She was preceded in death by her father, Pete Glisoni; a sister, Caroline Jones; and her husband, Billy Joe Taylor.
Survivors include her mother, Alpha Glisoni, Harlan; six children: Billy Stephens, Abington, Va.; Debbie Salleng and her husband, Marvin, Lawrenceburg; Donna Perkins and her husband, Mike, Berea; Tommy Abner, Lawrenceburg; Mike Abner and wife, Teresa, Harlan; and Jonathan Abner, Catrons Creek; 22 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Bobby L. Tomlinson

Bobby L. Tomlinson, 73, Kenvir, died Nov. 16, 2005, at his residence.
A native of Red Bud, Tomlinson was a graduate of Evarts High School.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force where he had served for 23 years including the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After retiring from the military, he moved back to Kenvir and had worked as a motor re-winder for Howard Mize and National Coil.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lilly Gilliam Tomlinson and his father, Bill Tomlinson.
Survivors include his wife, Joy Tye Tomlinson, Kenvir; two children: Donna Tomlinson, Amarillo, Texas; and Steve Tomlinson and his fianc', Tami Wylie, Louisville, Tenn.; three sisters: Doris Reynolds and husband, Hubert, Kenvir; Margie Montgomery and husband, Jack, Ohio; and Norma Jean Johnson, Lexington; a brother, Donald Ray Tomlinson; three grandchildren: Robert and Amanda Tomlinson, Tennessee; and Stacie Granat, Amarillo, Texas; and one great-granddaughter, Tanith Joy Granat, Amarillo, Texas.
Visitation will be held after 10 a.m. today at Evarts Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Carpenter officiating.
Burial will follow in Evarts Memorial Gardens with military rites to be performed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
The Harlan Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers.
