STANFORD -- Services for Sallie N. Smith, 68, of Stanford were 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Simpson, Floyd Raglin and Jerry Wilkinson. Burial is in Danville Memorial Gardens.
She died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Hubert B. Hood
Hubert B. Hood, 83, of West Erskine, died Saturday at Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation.
Born Feb. 3, 1917, in Pulaski County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Rincie Bullock Hood. He was a retired security guard for American Greetings and a farmer. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member and former deacon of Gethsemane Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Irene DeBord Hood; a son, Charles Hood of Nicholasville; a brother, Chester Hood of Somerset; a sister, Jean Hood of Somerset; a grandson and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gethsemane Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark Payton. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Monday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorials may go to Gethsemane Baptist Church building fund or Heritage Hospice.

Catherine F. Carey
SPRINGFIELD -- Catherine Farmer Carey, 82, of West Main Street, Springfield, died Saturday at Taylor County Hospital in Campbellsville.
Born March 9, 1918, in Marion County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Nell Watkins Farmer. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lee Carey, and a daughter, Barbara Joyce Carey.
Survivors include two sons, Howard E. Carey of Lebanon and Ronnie M. Carey of Lowmansville; two daughters, Betsy Wilson of Danville and Theresa Coppock of Campbellsville; a step-daughter, Lela M. Proctor of Muncie, Ind.; two sisters, Lucille Russell of Louisville and Gabrielle Trotter of Lebanon; a brother, Bernard Farmer of Campbellsville; 10 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren and one step great-great-grandchild.
Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Dominic Catholic Church by the Revs. Leon Spalding and Chuck Thompson. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, Lebanon.
Visitation is 4-9 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Carey & Son Funeral Home.

Francis Gibbs
Services for Frances Massey Gibbs, 81, of Arnold Towers, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church by the Revs. Paul Prabell and Gary Story. Burial will be in Dan-ville Memorial Gardens.
She died Thursday at her residence.
Born Dec. 29, 1918, in Danvile, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Gracie Mae Curtsinger Massey. She was a retired aide for the Department of Social Services. She most recent-ly was a caregiver with the senior companion program and a volunteer for Heritage Hospice. She was a former cafeteria worker for Kentucky State Hospital. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a 1937 graduate of Danville High School.
Survivors include two daughters, Anita Fisher of Somerset and Patty Gibbs of Oklahoma City; a son, Jimmy Gibbs of Smarr, Ga.; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation is after 4 p.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home. A prayer service will be at 4:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Born June 29, 1924, in Wilson, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Carl B. and Minnie Whitaker Brown. She was a former Red Cross Nurse during World War II, a former postal employee of Wilmington, N.C., and a former member of Harrodsburg Womans Club, Beulah Clay Circle. She was a member of Harrodsburg United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Lee Cole; three daughters, Donna Jean Keys of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Marguerite K. Cole and Nancy Lee Corbett, both of Wilmington, N.C.; and six grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Joe F. Curtsinger II; four sons, Joe E. Curtsinger III of Junction City and Mark Anthony, Charlton Edward and Nicholas Paul Curtsinger, all of Lancaster; a daughter, Jessica Lynn Curtsinger of Lancaster; two brothers, Mitchell and W.C. Adams of Liberty; and three sisters, Shirley Baugh and Debbie Cooper, both of Liberty, and Cathy Curtsinger of Danville.
Pallbearers will be Thomas English, Michael Curtsinger, Daniel Curtsinger, Derrick Brummett, Michael Daugherty and Chad Curtsinger. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Lee Baugh and Jamie Walls.

Born Nov. 12, 1931, in Rockcastle County, she was a daughter of the late Willie J. and Retta Evans Newcomb. She was an active volunteer with the Lincoln County Little League football and baseball programs as well as with a number of church programs. She also volunteered at Lincoln View Therapeutic Rehabilitation Program.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Smith.
Survivors include six sons, Kenny M., Tommy, Barry D., Stanley and Jeff Smith, all of Stanford, and Jack Smith of Danville; four daughters, Jeanette, Glenda, Leeann and Nancy Smith, all of Stanford; two brothers, Jimmy Newcomb of Lancaster and Joe Newcomb of Lexington; four sisters, Carolyn, Ruth, Margaret and Mattie Newcomb, all of Stanford; 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Eric Perry, Brad Hinkle, Earl Kelsor, Larry Jones, Jeff Wardlow, Bob Carpenter, Doug Reid and Brad Wall.

He died Thursday at Casey County Hospital.
Born April 15, 1918, in Casey County, he was a son of the late John and Bertha Lewellen Woods. He was a retired welder and a member of the Old Fashioned Missionary Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include two brothers, Clyde and Cleo Woods, both of Liberty; two sisters, Irene Pennington of Junction City and Lorene Allen of Dunnville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. today.

LIBERTY -- Bertha Crockett, 48, of Liberty died Wednesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 24, 1951 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Redford and Christine Evans Shale. She was a housewife.
Survivors include her husband, Gilbert Crockett; three sons, John Crockett of Washington, D.C., and Matt and Noah Crockett, both of Danville; a daughter, Annette Gabbard of Liberty; three sisters, Maye Shale Caffee and Ovi Harris, both of Liberty, and Alice Wagner of Florida; two brothers, Vester Shale of Yosemite and Lester Shale of Junction City; and six grandchildren.
