Joan Helena McCreary, Suffolk, Va., died on March 27, 2005.
She was born in Palatine, Ill., to Friedrich August Louis Ninnemann and Irene Emma Ninnemann (Brockmann).
After graduating from Columbia Bible College, Columbia, S.C., she began working with the Rehoboth Mountain Mission, teaching the Bible to many children in remote schools and churches in the mountains of southeastern Kentucky.
Following her marriage in 1960, she continued to serve Christ as a Bible teacher, church organist/pianist, choir director and piano teacher. For many years, she was the pianist/organist at Community Baptist Church in Suffolk. Later she served, until a few months before her death, as pianist, organist and choir director of Trinity Christian Church in Suffolk. She was a member of the Tidewater Music Teachers Association and a member of Trinity Christian Church.
One of her greatest loves was teaching young people to play the piano. For over 40 years, she gave private lessons in her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Gail Ninnemann.
She is survived by her husband, Byron McCreary, Suffolk; daughter, Barbara Gail Johnson, and husband, John Wayne, Franklin, Va.; daughter Rebecca Wright Williams, Virginia Beach, Va.; son Jerry Dale McCreary, Franklin, Va.; son Jeffrey Daniel McCreary and wife, Elizabeth, Forbes, Chesapeake, Va.; seven grandchildren: Keith W. Johnson, B. Scott Johnson, Kelli L. Johnson, Bethany K. Johnson, Karla F. Johnson, Jonathan P. Wright and wife, Cora, and Ryan J. Williams; her aunt, Leona Lewerenz and husband, Ray, of Altoona, Fla.; her cousin, Janyce Freund and husband, Tom, Lakeland, Fla., and cousin Robert Schroeder and wife, Pat, of Peotone, Ill.
Visitation will be today from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Ralph Green and Dr. John Kimball on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with burial following in the Holland Cemetery.

Nora Miniard, 99, Loyall, died March 25, 2005, at the Harlan Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 17, 1906, at Napier, and resided in Harlan County for over 50 years. She was a homemaker and believed in the Christian faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Martha Hensley Miniard; her husband, Cooper Miniard; six brothers: Charlie, Elmo, Hiram, Ray, Bill and Disney Miniard; four sisters: Florence, Nancy Ann, Mary and Sallie; and three daughters: Martha Jackson, Gladys Cornett and Angeline Middleton.
She is survived by two sons: John Miniard and wife, Alberta, Loyall; and William Henry Miniard and wife, Wylene, Harlan; one daughter, Nancy Anadell, Amherst, Ohio; one sister, Lillie Avery; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and several other relatives.
Visitation was Sunday evening at Anderson & Laws Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Anderson & Laws Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Eugene Harris and the Rev. Titus Boggs officiating.
Burial will follow in the Abners Branch Cemetery at Napier (Greasy Creek).
Pallbearers will be Cooper Miniard, Jeff Bobo, Kenny Cornett, Willie Cornett, Paul Jackson, Bob Middleton, Marcus Middleton, Don Anadell, James Anadell, Steve Anadell and Michael Anadell.

Wilburn Osborne, 55, Grays Knob, died March 10, 2005, at Britthaven of the Tri-Cities.
He was born March 12, 1949, in Cawood. He was a retired laborer and a member of the Teetersville Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parent, Ben and Anna Mae Osborne; one brother, Billy Wayne Osborne; and one sister, Connie Engle.
Survivors include two sisters: Helen Estes, Lenarue; Corrine Goldsberry, Lenarue; one brother, David Osborne, Grays Knob; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted today at 11 a.m. at the Harlan County Memorial Gardens.

James Harold Pace, 71, Smith, died March 27, 2005, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.
A native of Rose Hill, Va., he was a retired coal miner and retired superintendent of Berns Construction Company with 27 years of service. He was also a member of the Faith Holiness Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents: P.E. Pace and Emma K. Wilder Pace; his first wife: Janet Haynes Pace; and three sisters: Zion Harber, Inez Cottrell and Verna Nottingham.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Mullins Pace, Smith; three children: Janet P. Totten and husband, Tom, Edinburgh, Ind.; Jimmy D. Pace and wife, Wanda J., Edinburgh, Ind.; and Pamela K. Williams and husband, Danny, Cranks; two stepchildren: Mari Nee Miller and husband, Kevin, Ewing, Va.; and Ryan Clonce, Ewing, Va.; seven grandchildren: Damon Williams, Bryce Totten, Justin Williams, Cristal Brock, Jyssica Williams, Afton Taiylor Miller and Trey David Miller; two great grandchildren: Jordan Brock and John Brady Brock; and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Faith Holiness Church with the Rev. Spencer Burkhart and the Rev. Grant Hamlin officiating.

Anna Belle Pendleton, 73, Baxter, died March 26, 2005, at St. Joseph Hospital.
A native of Harlan County, she was a homemaker and attended the Four Mile Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Campbell; and her husband, Eugene 'Leggs' Pendleton.
Survivors include four children: Steve Pendleton, Baxter; Stephanie Story, Lexington; Teresa Gabbard and husband, Emmitt, Nicholasville; and Mark Pendleton, Elcomb; four grandchildren: Carissa Armbruster, Whitney Lunsford, Timme Ann Gabbard and LaCosta Coleman; four great grandchildren: Alyssa Moses, Jacob Moses, Paityn Wynn and Landon Armbruster; one brother, Donald Campbell, Lexington; and several other relatives and friends also survive.
Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.

Wyles J. Platt, 92, died March 8, 2005, in Ft. Pierce, Fla.
A native of Harrison County, he moved to Fort Pierce in 1974 from Middlesboro.
Before his retirement, he was an agent for REA Express. He attended Southside Christian Church in Fort Pierce and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII in the South Pacific.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Platt; and his grandchildren, Timothy Ross Platt and Robert Scott Platt.
Survivors include: one daughter, Patricia Day and husband, Marvin, Fort Pierce, Fla.; one son, Robert R. Platt and wife, Faye, Loyall; one sister, Mary Maddox, Cynthiana; grandchildren: James Steven Day, Julianne Cahoon and Kimberly Pillion; and great-grandchildren, Sara E. Day, Christopher S. Day, Bethany Ann Cahoon and Laura Kay Cahoon.
Visitation is today from 10 to 11 a.m. at Haisley Funeral and Cremation Service.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Jeff Minor officiating.
Burial will follow at White City Cemetery.

Maudie Presley, 90, Mason, Ohio, died March 16, 2005, at Jewish Hospital in Kenwood, Ohio.
A native of Rockcastle County, she was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church and a current member of the Northside Baptist Church in Lebanon, Ohio. She was a past grand noble of both the Evarts and Lebanon Rebecca lodges and enjoyed playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Maggie Durham; a husband, Elmer F. Presley; a son, Larry M. Presley; two daughters: Louise Presley and Alene Gilbert; a sister, Eva Johnson, a brother, Earl Durham; and one grandson.
Survivors include five children: Raymond Presley and wife, Cathy, Lebanon, Ohio; Lucy Bachelor, Mason, Ohio; Faye Eubank and husband, George, Lebanon, Ohio; Maxine Hickey, Dayton; and Helen Jones and husband, Wilburn, Norwood, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; and a hos of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation is on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Paul White officiating.
Burial will follow in Evarts Memorial Gardens.
