Laura Creech Gluck, 80, Cumberland, died March 25, 2005, at Britthaven of the Tri-Cities.
A native of Lynch, she was a member of the Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church, Harlan County Homemakers Club and the Eastern Star Lonesome Pine Chapter 220. She attended Centre College and graduated from Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College. She retired from the Harlan County School System as a high school English teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Nancy Johnson Creech.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Robert Gluck Jr., Cumberland; three children: Robert Gluck III, Cumberland; John Gregory Gluck and wife, Rebecca, Lynch; and Nancy Windler and husband, Roy, Indiana; four grandchildren: Catherine Fuller and husband, Scott, Corbin; Joseph Gluck IV, Johnson City, Tenn.; Loreyn Eldridge and husband, Joe, Benham; and Greg Gluck Jr., Lynch; and four great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. in the chapel of Day & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Floyd Blake Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow in Huff Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Greg Gluck Jr., Jay Gluck, Donnie Creech, David Riherd, Joe Eldridge and Scott Fuller.
Day & Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Goodman
Lexington
March 11, 2005
Mildred (Mickey) Goodman, 79, Lexington, died March 11, 2005, at Northpoint Healthcare.
A native of Harlan County, she was retired from the Fayette County Public School System and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harve and Della Sellers; her husband, Raymond Goodman; and a son, Roger Goodman.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Davis and husband, James, Nicholasville; three sons: William Goodman, Key West, Fla.; Mickey Goodman and wife, Stephanie, Kansas City, Mo.; and Tony Goodman and Cheryl, Lexington; five gradsons: Jamie Davis, Shawn Goodman, Gabriel Goodman, David Goodman and Jeremy Wilson; five granddaughters, Shannon Goodman, Janet Dickinson, Jennifer Harris, Sarah Goodman and Tara Rose; a sister, Martha Ellis, Evarts; and one special cousin, Mary Ann (Conley) Roark, Lexington.
Visitation is today after 12:30 p.m. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Terrence Freeman officiating.
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Irma Thornsberry Halcomb, 67, Baxter, died March 11, 2005, at Pikeville Medical Center following a long illness.
A native of Knott County, she was a member of the Totz Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Roberta Brock Thornsberry; a son, Glenn Halcomb; two brothers: Tommy Thornsberry and Wallace Thornsberry; and one sister, Vivian Thornsberry.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Halcomb, Baxter; three children: Linda Halcomb, Baxter; Anita Stewart and husband, Raymond, Harlan; and Kenneth Halcomb and wife, Deborah, Totz; two grandchildren: Starlett Stewart, Cumberland; and Crystal Halcomb, Totz; four brothers: Irmal Thornsberry and wife, Doris, Gordon; Gerald Thornsberry and wife, Barbara, Gordon; Sonny Thornsberry and wife, Patricia, Niceville, Fla.; and James 'Butch' Thornsberry, Cumberland; a sister, Imogene Montiage, Hindman; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Sunday at Tri-City Funeral Home and today after 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Homer Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Halcomb Cemetery at Totz.

Thelma Hart, 80, Elcomb, died March 11, 2005, at Britthaven of Tri-Cities.
A native of Harlan County, she was a retired nurses aide having been employed by The Laurels for over 27 years. She was also a memeber of the Sunny Acres First Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Leona Couch; her husband, Eugene Hart; a daughter, Louise Creech; a sister, Mary Couch; and three brothers: Sidney, Bige and Ralph Couch.
Survivors include three granddaughters: Shontella Nease and husband, Larry Joe, Cumberland; Paula Ferguson, Elcomb; and Erin Creech, Elcomb; four great-gandchildren: Hunter and Cameron Nease, Austin Howard and Brady Ferguson; two brothers: Bethel Couch, Sunshine; and Burchell Couch, Fair Clay; five sisters: Christine Mayberry, Corbin; Louise Mosley, Corbin; Geneva Hamblin, Corbin; Sue Phelps, Corbin; and Sophie Walker, South Carolina; and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Sunny Acres First Church of God with the Rev. Jim Blair officiating.
Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Joe "Junior" Hensley

Joe 'Junior' Hensley, 79, Cawood, died March 16, 2005, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 14, 1926, in Rose Hill, Va. He was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA and a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in WWII. He was a member of the Dressen Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Moring Hensley; two sons: Ronnie Hensley and Terry Hensley; and one brother, Robert Hensley.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Hensley, Cawood; four children: Keith Hensley, Frankfort; Bennie Hensley and wife, Barb, Harlan; Tina Haynes and husband, Ernie, Morristown, Tenn.; and Lynn Robertson and husband, Ken, Martinsville, Va.; one stepdaughter, Trichina Townsend, Pathfork; two sisters: Elsie Childers, Tennessee; and Mary Chelpecka, Chicago; two brothers: Eli Hensley, Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; and Monty Hensley, Chicago; two grandchildren: Jimmy Holbrook and Missy Witt, both of Harlan; four great-grandchildren: Kelsy Holbrook, Kaylee Holbrook, Abby Witt and Alley Witt; two special friends: Clarence Fields and Priscilla Carter, Cawood; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 18, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Hall and the Rev. Howard Farmer officiating.
Burial will follow in the Browning Cemetery of Cranks with military rites observed by the Harlan County Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Rob Jordan, Joe Tom Ledford, George Earl Hensley, Jim Roddy, Roger Anderson and Jimmy Holbrook.

John Robert Hornsby, 35, Partridge, died March 13, 2005, at his home.
A native of Cumberland, he was a graduate of Cumberland High School and attended Southeast Community College. He was a former employee of Food City in Cumberland and former manager of Food City in Harlan. He was presently employed by Highland Coal Company and believed in the Pentecostal faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, James 'Jim' Hornsby; a brother, Jimmy 'Bebo' Hornsby; and grandparents: John and Bessie Hornsby; and Cecil and Callie Eversole.
Survivors include his mother, Anna Lois Eversole Hornsby, Partridge; his wife, Jody Darlena Cornett Hornsby, Partridge; one son, Trenton Hornsby, Partridge; two sisters, Sharon Blair and husband, Todd, Cumberland; and Cheryl Halcomb and husband, Denny; special nieces: Chris Sellers and April Hornsby; special nephews: Dustin Blair and Kevin Pennington; and two nephews.
Visitation was Monday at Tri-City Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ted Eversole and the Rev. Ernie Asher officiating.
Burial will follow in the Eversole Cemetery.
Tri-City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marguerite Joy Hoskins, 44, Thorn Hill, Tenn., died March 18, 2005, at the University of Tennessee Hospital.
She was born Jan. 24, 1961, in Helton. She was a homemaker and member of the Dryfork Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Ethel Caldwell; and her brother, Neil Caldwell.
Survivors include her husband, Clifford Hoskins, Thorn Hill; four children: Lisa Hemenway and husband, Eugene, Thorn Hill; Alex Hoskins and wife, Angela, Bledsoe; Valerie Hoskins, Thorn Hill; and Steven Hoskins, Thorn Hill; four grandchildren: Shantell Hemenway, Austin Hemenway, Cheyenne Hemenway and Andrew Hoskins; brothers and sisters: James 'Smitty' Caldwell, Tazewell, Tenn.; Billy Caldwell, Danville, Ill.; Shirley Tolbert, Bledsoe; Dewey Caldwell Jr.; Verda; Jerry Caldwell, Casey County; Mack Caldwell, Tazewell; Roger Caldwell, Bowling Green, Mo.; Michael Caldwell, Barbourville; and Barbara Tallent, London; and several nieces, nephews and relatives.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Dryfork Holiness Church with the Rev. Cammie Bo Caldwell and the Rev. Roscoe Asher Jr. officiating. Burial followed in the Hoskins Cemetery in Mile Branch.
Visitation was Sunday at the Dryfork Holiness Church.
Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
