Martha Lee Miniard Jackson, 76, Greasy Creek, died Feb. 24, 2005, at the Barbourville Nursing Home.
A native of Leslie County, she was a homemaker and believed in the Methodist faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Peter Cooper Miniard; her husband, Earl Jackson; and two sisters: Gladys Cornett and Angeline Middleton.
Survivors include her mother, Nora Miniard; two children: Paul Jackson, Bledsoe; and Eulene Doss, Barbourville; two brothers: Henry Miniard and wife, Wylene, Harlan; and John B. Miniard and wife, Alberta, Loyall; one sister, Nancy Anadell, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Titus Boggs officiating.
Burial will follow in the Jackson Family Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Phillip Ronald Kalliainen
Columbia, Tenn.
February 23, 2005
Phillip Ronald Kalliainen, 22, died Feb. 23, 2005, at his residence on Park Plus Court in Columbia, Tenn.
The Pontiac, Mich. native was a graduate of Spring Hill High School and was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic by trade. He had served the United States in the 771st Unit of the Tennessee National Guard in Iraq in which he was honorably discharged in August of 2004.
He is survived by his parents, Ronald Kalliainen and Donna Hamblin, both of Columbia, Tenn.; a brother, Aaron Kalliainen, of Columbia, Tenn.; his stepmother, Elizabeth Hicks, of Columbia, Tenn.; a stepsister, Emmalee Hicks, of Columbia, Tenn; his paternal grandfather, Arthur R. Kalliainen, of Columbia, Tenn.; his maternal grandparents, Paul H. and Glenda Hamblin, of Harlan, ; two aunts, Teresa Hamblin of Harlan, and Helen Mangus, of Columbia, Tenn.; an uncle, Paul H. Hamblin Jr., of Columbia, Tenn.; a niece, Emma Faith Kalliainen, of Columbia, Tenn.; his loving companion, Tina Potts, of Columbia, Tenn.; and his most devoted and best friend, his dog, Scooby.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m.until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tenn with the Rev. Larry Hastings officiating.
Burial will be at Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors being provided by the Tennessee National Guard.
Pallbearers will be Chad Bierschbach, Aaron Kalliainen, Paul H. Hamblin, Jr., Craig Foote, Damon White, Jerry Dillehay, Devel Brooks, and Keith Potts. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the 771st Unit of the Tennessee National Guard.
Memorials may be made to the Maury County Animal Shelter, 1236 Lawson White Drive, Columbia, TN, 38401 or the Ronald McDonald House.

George D. Maiden

February 28, 2005
George D. 'Buddy' Maiden, 71, Cawood, died Feb. 28, 2005, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.
He was born Aug. 25, 1933, in Somerset. He was a retired coal miner with 35 years of service having last worked at Bow Valley Mining Company. He had attended the Cawood Church of God Mountain Assembly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Hazel Barton Maiden; and three sisters: Calra Jo Ramsey, Linda Adams and Billie Lou Hensley.
Survivors include his wife, Pansy Maiden, Cawood; two children: Pam Middleton and husband, Ron, Harlan; and Greg Maiden and wife, Gina, Rising Sun, Ind.; seven grandchildren: Jamie Maiden, Corbin; Brittney Smith and husband, Lincoln, Harlan; Kerri Maiden, Tremont; Dustin Smith, Harlan; Steven Miller, Harlan; John Gregory Maiden and Jace Maiden, both of Rising Sun, Ind., three sisters: Alberta Hensley, Wallins; Mary Farrell, Winchester; and Wanda Sorrel, Lexington; a special friend, Jimmy Martin; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m. at Anderson & Laws Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Franklin Stewart and the Rev. Tim Hall officiating.
Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Anderson & Laws Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Eula Gertrude McCarty, 86, died Feb. 21, 2005, in Fairland, Ind.
A native of Inman, she was a homemaker, a member of Benham United Methodist Church and a member of Order of Eastern Star, as well as a past matron.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin M. Neely and Eula Gertrude Sheffield Neely; a son-in-law, Bruce Delk; and Sam Cope, Boyd Harrell and Ernest McCarty.
She is survived by two children: Samme Gladson and husband, Ed, Fairfield, Ind.; and Sandra Delk; four grandchildren: Sameia Calhoun and husband, Jeff, Indianapolis, Ind.; Samuel Purvis, Massachusetts; Carla Caton and husband, Isaac, Lexington; and Rebecca Stickle and husband, Jessie, Farland, Ind; five great-grandchildren: Alleson and Bruce Calhoun, Indianapolis, Ind.; Kayela and Sarah Caton, Lexington; and Brendan Stickle, Shelbyville, Ind; and two sisters: Margaret Payne, Benham; and Shirley Turpin, Glen Haven, Colo.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Tri-City Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at Benham United Methodist Church on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Barry Leonard and the Rev. Ron Young officiating.
Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
Tri-City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gabrielle Muncy, 43, Wallins, died March 3, 2005, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born March 26, 1961, in Hyden. She had been a waitress and believed in the Pentecostal faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Jonie Muncy; and her brother, Lewis Dewayne Muncy.
Survivors include two children: Jonie Chasteen and Tommy Chasteen, both of Wallins; two brothers: David Muncy and wife, Jessie; and Lloyd Muncy, all of Wallins; five sisters: Darlene Brown, Dayton, Ohio; Lucille Whitehead and husband, Arnold, Loyall; Maxine Cobb, Wallins; Susie Frost and husband, Ray, Dayton, Ohio; and Sally Weaver, Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at the Bud Simpson Church of Wallins.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Ralph Brown officiating.
Burial will follow in the Park-Howard Cemetery in Wallins.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Duane W. Parsons Sr., 81, died Feb. 23, 2005.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Parsons.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the church.

Levetes Sexton
February 23, 2005
Levetes Sexton, 90, died Feb. 23, 2005, at Samaritan Hospital in Lexington.
She had worked in men's tailoring with: Powers and Horton, Harlan; Graves-Cox, DJ Sholwater's and Howard and Miller, Lexington. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Mattie Hutchinson Circle and the American Business Women's Associating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Sexton.
Survivors include two sons: Richard 'Don' Sexton and wife, Mary, Lexington; and Douglas M. Sexton and wife, Lewanna; Sue McFarland and husband, Joel, Bulls Gap, Tenn.; and Vivian Newman and husband, Ralph, Fayetteville, N.C.; six grandchildren: Deata Gregory, Mark Sexton, Shareasa Sexton, Eric Neil Newman and Gregory Joel Newman; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Feb. 26 at W.R. Milward Southland Funeral Home with Dr. William R. Jennings officiating.
Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery.
Milward Southland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
