Mark Edward Vance, 30, of the Bristol Tennessee Police Department, died in the line of duty on Nov. 27, 2004.
Vance was born in Michigan and had lived in the Bristol area since 1981. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and later worked at Bristol Compressors. He first served the police department as an auxiliary officer for 3 1/2 years prior to becoming a full-time officer in April of 2003.
He is preceded in death by his father, David Vance.
Survivors include his mother, Karen Fleming Vance; his wife, Tina Casey Vance; a daughter, Alecia Breanna Vance; a brother, David Vance, and his wife, Laura; a niece, Trinity Vance; a nephew, Damian Vance; and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation was Wednesday at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. Members of the Bristol Police and Fire Departments will stand guard at the casket.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. Delacy Andrews officiating.
The service and burial will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon with the presentation of full police memorial rites.

G.B. 'Odell' Vaughn Jr., 71, Wallins, died Nov. 18, 2004, at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital.
A native of Wallins, he was retired from General Motors and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Greenberry Vaughn and Elavree Henry Vaughn; one brother, Bobby Vaughn; two sisters: Goldine Howard and Coretta Vaughn; and one great-grandchild, Nathan Brock.
Survivors include his wife, Anna M. Vaughn, Wallins; three children: Donna Duncan and husband, Bobcat, and Catherine Cooper, all of Wallins; and Richard Vaughn and wife, Faye, Middlesboro; four brothers: Johnny Vaughn, Putney; Gary Vaughn, Cincinnati; Darius Vaughn, Wallins; and Benny Vaughn, Hazard; two sisters: Francine Osborne, Greenville, Tenn.; and Geraldine Parsons, Cincinnati; seven grandchildren: Shannon Harris, Shawna Bradford, Natasha Duncan, James Gross, Richard Cooper, Jamie Cooper and Kresta Farmer; eight grandchildren: Robbie, Chyanna and Colton Harris, Cadyn Brock, Shelbee and Hayln Farmer, Keaton Clark and Bethany Aslinger; and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be today from 6 until 9 p.m. in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Don Thomas officiating.
Burial will follow in the Park-Howard Cemetery of Wallins.

Rosie Mae White, 84, Harlan, died Nov. 29, 2004, at the Harlan Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 20, 1919, in Harlan County.
She was a homemaker and believed in the Holiness faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Taylor and Nannie White.
Survivors include five children: Terry Hensley, Hazard; Barbara Hensley, Cleveland; Taylor Hensley, Wallins; Byrd Hensley and wife, Sandra, Dayhoit; and Perry Hensley and wife Louise, Kettering, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with the Rev. Arnold Martin officiating.
Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Whitestar Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Henry 'Tire Man' Angel, 58, Louisville, formerly of Dizney, died Jan. 18, 2005, at his residence following a short illness.
He was born Oct. 30, 1946, in Dizney, was a retired mechanic and believed in the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Cloud.
Survivors include his mother, Marie Cox Cloud, Dizney; his wife, Christine Blevins Angel, Louisville; four children: Johnny Dwayne Angel and wife, Kathy, Louisville; Angel Renea Kinney and husband, Timothy, Louisville; Michelle Annette Cole and husband, Patrick, Jones Creek; and Matthew Lewis Angel, Louisville; three grandchildren: Christy Lynn Angel, David Lee Angel and Amber Lee Angel; four brothers: Roger Cloud, Kenvir; Pearle Cloud, Verda; Clarence Cloud Jr., Evarts; and Tom Napier, Middlesboro; seven sisters: Brenda Kay Risner, Kenvir; Mary Thompson, Wallins; Loretta Cloud, Evarts; Rita Cloud, Shields; Wanda Faye Cloud, Dizney; Mona Cloud, Dizney; and Sue Cox, Middlesboro; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mary Theresa Asher, 33, Harlan died Jan. 16, 2005, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center following an illness.
A native of Harlan County, she was a clerk at the Holiday Inn Express for several years. She was a member of the Harlan Musettes alumni and attended the Sunshine Baptist Church. Asher also earned an associate degree from Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College.
She was preceded in death by her father, James B. 'Jim' Asher, and her grandparents.
Survivors include her mother, Judy Lowe Asher, Harlan; two brothers: James Asher, Lexington; and Noah Asher and wife, Michelle, Harlan; her fianc', Darren Millin, Ireland; her nieces and nephews: Brendon Lee Asher, Allison Asher, Bradley Asher, Leanna Asher, Courtney Asher, Taylor Asher and Shanisa Williams; and several uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends.
Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Anderson-Laws Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Roy McNeil officiating.
Private graveside services will be held at Asher Cemetery.

Gussie Lee Saylor Barnard, 83, Wallins, died Jan. 23, 2005, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.
A native of Harlan County, she was a homemaker and a loving mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Newberry Saylor Sr. and Dora Jane Osborne Saylor; her husband, Richard Barnard, five sisters: Oma Dorothy Saylor, Frances Margaret Saylor, Nancy Ann Saylor, Wilma Serena Saylor and Oda Marie Saylor; five brothers: J.D. Saylor, James Newberry Saylor Jr., Claude Melvin Saylor Sr., Luther Henry Hobert Saylor Sr. and Robert Disney Saylor.
Survivors include four children: Patricia Marie Barnard, Duke, Ill.; Dorothy Sue Brooks, Wallins; John Daniel 'Melvin' Barnard, South Carolina; and Gary Barnard, Wallins; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers: Lonnie Eldin Saylor Sr. and James Marshall Saylor; a sister, Lois Sue Saylor; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Due to her wishes, there will be no services held.

Mark L. Bielko, 33, Corbin, formerly of Indiana, died Jan. 21, 2005, at his residence.
A native of Fort Wayne, Ind., he believed in the Pentecostal faith and was employed by the Northfolk Southern Railroad where he served as a conductor.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ludwig and Anna Bielko; and Charles Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Patterson Bielko, Corbin; his children: Kala Marie Bielko and Corben J. Bielko, both of Corbin; his parents, John and Dorothy Lewis Bielko, Fort Wayne, Ind.; his father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Viola Patterson, Corbin; a grandmother, Lena Lewis; one brother, Kendell Bielko and wife, Lori, Fort Wayne, Ind.; two aunts: Kathryn Yeagin, Texas, and Charleen McFarland, Louisiana; two uncles: Clennon Lewis, North Carolina, and Robert Lewis, Louisiana; and a host of other friends and family members.
