Sherri Smith Cody, 48, Miamisburg, Ohio, died Sept. 25, 2004, at her residence.
A native of Harlan County, she was a graduate of Cawood High school and Sinclair College in Dayton, Ohio. She believed in the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Frank Smith and Mildred Carroll Smith; husband, Samuel Cody; and grandparents, John and Lily Duncan Carroll and William and Allie York Smith.
Survivors include three children: Samuel Cody and wife, Stephanie, Charles McNish and Catlin Bradley, all of Dayton; two grandsons: Justin Cody and Brandon Wehkamp; one brother, Alex Smith and wife, Vererlee, Middletown; one sister, Patti Fannon and husband, James, Las Vegas, Nev.; special godparents, Charles and Teddy Wattenberger, Loyall; and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation is today from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 7 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with the Rev. John D. Lambert officiating.
Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Resthaven Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Steve Chadwell, Bill Key, Charles McNish, Don Ross, Jim Ross and Robert Seals. Honorary pallbearers will include Robert Chadwell, James Fannon, Freddie Farmer, Michael Seals, Charles Wattenberger Sr. and Charles Wattenberger Jr.

Lawrence H. Cornett, 80, Cumberland, died Oct. 5, 2004, at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, Va.
A native of Harlan County, he was a member of the Blair Pentecostal Church, United Mine Workers of America and Scotia Burial Fund.
He was a retired coal miner from U.S. Steel and Scotia with 43 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry B. and Mary Howard Cornett; and a son, Dale Cornett.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Cornett, Cumberland; seven children: David Cornett, Cumberland; Mildred Cornett Rowland, Cumberland; Darrell (Sonny) Cornett, Cumberland; Doyle (Pete) Cornett, Cumberland; Donnie Cornett, Cumberland; Delmas Cornett, Cumberland; and Marilyn Cornett Gaines, Cumberland; one brother, David Cornett, Arizona; three sisters: Juanita Fields, Cumberland; Viola Dixon, Hiram; and Wilma Creech, Peoria, Ill; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Thursday in the chapel of Day & Jones Funeral.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at the chapel in the funeral home with the Rev. Doyle Carnes and the Rev. T. R. Stump officiating.
Burial will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Norma Louise Creech, 56, Elcomb, died Sept. 13, 2004, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.
She had been employed by McDonald's and was a member of the Sunny Acres Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Creech.
Survivors include her mother, Thelma Harlan, Elcomb; three children: Shontella Nease and husband, Larry Joe, Cumberland; Paula Ferguson, Elcomb; and Erin Creech, Elcomb; four grandchildren: Hunter Nease, Cameron Nease, Austin Howard and Brady Ferguson; and several aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Sunny Acres Church of God with the Rev. Jim Blair officiating.
Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Keith.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Ada Browning Crutchfield, 83, Sallisaw, Okla., died Sept. 9, 2004.
A homemaker, she believed in the Baptist faith.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Neal Crutchfield; her parents, Wilson Sherman Browning and Sarah Belle Howard Browning.
Survivors include a daughter, Nadene Crutchfield Hill, Branson, Mo.; three sons: Jess N. Crutchfield, Marshall, Texas; Howard O. Crutchfield, Arlington, Texas; and Delmar R. Crutchfield, Sallisaw, Okla.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lou Browning, Harlan.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 10 a.m. at Sallisaw City Cemetery with the Rev. Monroe Lowrimore officiating.
Burial will follow at the cemetery.

Arthur Arvous Dale, 92, Harlan, died Sept. 16, 2004, at his residence following a long illness.
A native of Williamsburg, he was a retired real estate agent. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge 879 F&AM;, a member and past-president of the Harlan Lions Club, a member of the Harlan County Chamber of Commerce and was a charter member of the Kingdom Come Heritage Society. He served on the board of trustees at Cumberland College, where he donated the Angel Dale House.
He was a member and deacon at Harlan Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Gertrude Angel Dale, and his parents, John and Bertha Smith Dale.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Jean Angel Freeman, Elizabethtown; 12 Dale and five Angel nieces and nephews; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and Elizabeth and Morris Clem and family, Harlan.
Visitation is Sunday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Harlan Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 6 p.m. at the church with Dr. John Ditty, Dr. Bill Freeman and Dr. Bruce Ayers officiating.
Graveside services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Highland Park Cemetery in Williamsburg.
Pallbearers will include Jeff Brock, Mike Coldiron, Richard Dale Jr., Dana Greene, Wayne Greene, Jeffrey Hain, Charles Arthur King, John King, Brantley Freeman and Roy Douglas.
Honorary pallbearers will include Ralph Douglas, Brent Erickson, Robert Harris, Joe Holdredge, Chuck King, David King, Vic King and Fritz Ross.

A native of Harlan County, he was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Farley and Leona Osborne Farley, and one brother, Leroy Farley.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Hood Farley, Hickory; a daughter, Leona Kay Farley, Hickory; six brothers: Monman Farley, McArthur Farley, Jerry Farley, Joe Hansel Farley, Wayne Max Farley and Gary Dale Farley; two sisters, Ruby Davenport and Rebecca Benjie; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sept. 7 in Hickory.

She was a homemaker and professional writer, actor, producer and director of many children's plays.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Goodwyn; and her husband, Frank Goodwyn.
Survivors include two sons: Frank Goodwyn, Harlan; and Wayne Goodwyn, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m.
