HARRODSBURG -- Services for Rowena Bernice Norton, 72, of Harrodsburg were scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Lowell Langfield. Burial is in Hopewell Cemetery.
She died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Elwood Norton; three sons, Jerry Norton of Shelbyville, Dennis Norton of Carlisle and Glenn Norton of Harrodsburg; three brothers, Elijah B. LIBERTY -- Elizabeth L. Grider, 70, of Royston, Ga., formerly of Liberty, died Thursday at St. Vincent's Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born Nov. 24, 1929, in Casey County, she was a daughter of Lorene Sallee Baldock of Pine Village, Ind., and the late Marion Baldock. She was the widow of Melvin L. Grider. She was a former employee of Duncan Electric Co. of Lafayette, Ind. .
Additional survivors include four daughters, Linda Smith of Tampa., Fla., Brenda Oilar of Pine Village, Ind., Jane Ehler of Williamsport, Ind., and Donna Lewis of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; a son, Melvin Dennis Grider of Royston, Ga.; three sisters, Nellie Dowell of Fowler, Ind., Callie Baldock of Pine Village, Ind., and June McClellan of Crawfordsvbille, Ind.; a brother, William Baldock of Pine Village, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by the Rev. Larry Davis. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

MORELAND -- Jere McGirr, 45, of 25 Longhollow Road, Hustonville, died Thursday at his home.
Born May 19, 1955, in Boyle County, he was a son of Juanita Gwinn McGirr of Junction City and the late John Pat McGirr. He was a farmer.
Additional survivors include his wife, Judith Campbell McGirr; three brothers, John Pat McGirr Jr. of Beaver Dam; Tommy McGirr of Danville and Larry McGirr of Junction City; and three sisters, Shelia McGirr of Waddy, Sharon McGirr Huffman of Danville and Geneva Hogue of Parksville.

LIBERTY -- Reed Williams, 72, of Liberty died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.
Born Dec. 2, 1927, in Waynesburg, he was a son of the late Marvice and Rosezettie Emerson Williams. He was a retired electronics technician for General Electric Co., Cincinnati, and he attended Green River Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Deva Judd Williams; a son, Jerry G. Williams of Greensburg; a daughter, Linda S. Cook of Mason, Ohio; four sisters, Clarice Floyd and Alline Luttrell, both of Yosemite, Hazel Bennett of Radcliff and Flo Plemmons of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; six brothers, Frank Williams and Ernest Williams, both of Liberty, Cleo Williams of Yosemite, Donald Williams of Waynesburg and Ronald Williams of Tucson, Ariz.; and four granddaughters.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bartle Funeral Home by the Revs. Greg Powell and Jerry Wilcher. Burial will be in Middleburg Cemetery.

Edna W. Stephens
Edna W. Stephens, 95, of Lebanon Road, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2000, in Danville after a long illness.
She was born May 17, 1905, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of the late James Ernest Webb and Elza Logan Webb Mitchell.
She was a 1924 graduate of Danville High School and attended Centre College.
On June 9, 1928, she married
Everett M. Stephens in Wilmore, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on June 8, 1990.
She was a devoted, 92-year member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women; the Alum Springs Missionary and Quilting Group; the Boyle County Homemaker's Club and the Shakertown Rd. Homemaker's Club.
She was a devoted wife, beloved Mother, and homemaker, who devoted her life to her family and church. She was gifted with a green thumb and loved caring for her flowers. Her flowers brought beauty and joy to her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are three loving children; two daughters, Frances Cassady of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Ann Williams and husband, Bob, of Hamilton, Ohio, and one son, E. Clay Stephens of Danville. Five grandchildren, David and Chris Cassady, Lisa Titney, Kathy Kirkpatrick, and Stephen Williams; six great-grandchildren, Heather Kirkpatrick, Lauren Tilney, Katie Tilney, Taylor Williams, Koryn Kirkpatrick, and Mitchell Williams; a loving sister, Mrs. H. M. (Sarah Logan) Jones and husband, Herb, of Dallas, Texas; nieces, nephews; and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Ellen Tinsley Webb and Eiza Van and Martha Logan; parents; stepfather, Frank Mitchell, Sr.; one brother, Frank Mitchell, Jr.; and one son-in-law, Harold Cassady.
The family extends their appreciation for the care and kindness given to their Mother to Lois Preston; Danville Emergency Medical Services, Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation, Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, and Drs. Horn, Moran and Overstreet.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, May 21, 2000, at Stith Funeral Home and the funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, at the Centenary United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Centenary United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Thelma Lou Rosel Sears, 89, of Shelby Street, Junction City, died Thursday at Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation.
Born Sept. 5, 1910, in Boyle County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Ella Southerland Shepperson. She was the widow of Carl Rosel and Theodore Sears. She was a former clerk for Parks-Belk department store and had been a correspondent for The Advocate-Messenger. She belonged to Junction City Christian Church.
Survivors are two daughters, Carleen Love of Junction City and Lynda Wilson of Hopkinsville; one son, Tommy Rosel of Upton; one sister, Virgie Dunsmore Shanks of Junction City; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
