John Lyttle, 80, Evarts, died April 9, 2003, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.
A native of Evarts, Lyttle was a retired bakery employee and believed in the Baptist faith.
He is survived by a host of cousins including Jeff Stewart and wife, Rose, Evarts; George Stewart, Evarts; Ester Bennett and husband, Ronnie, Evarts; Bobby Wayne Stewart, Evarts; James Stewart, Evarts; Larry Stewart, Cawood; Peggy Lindburg, Lima, Ohio; and Nancy Stewart, Lucasville, Ohio.
Visitation is Sunday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral at Evarts Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Napier officiating.
Burial will follow in Evarts Memorial Gardens.
Cousins will serve as pallbearers.
Evarts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Osborne

Robert Osborne
Robert G. Osborne, 90, Catrons Creek, died April 7, 2003, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.
A native of Lee County, Va., Osborne was a retired coal miner and a member of the U.M.W.A. and believed in the Methodist faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henderson Golden Osborne and Maude Marcum Osborne; a brother, Grant Osborne; and four sisters: Illeen Shackleford; Faye Willis; Verna Gilbert; and Nora Hensley.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Fee Osborne, Catrons Creek; one son, H.D. Osborne and wife, Rosalind, Catrons Creek; one granddaughter, Valerie Arnold and husband, Michael, White Pine, Tenn.; one brother, Lawrence Osborne, Dayton, Ohio; two sisters: Emma Jean Saylor, Dayton, Ohio; and Lola Mae Wilson, Knoxville, Tenn.; and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.
Visitation was held Wednesday at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be held today at noon at the Botners Grove Cemetery in Flatwoods, Va.
Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James 'Hoss' Stapelton, 65, Whiting, Ind., formerly of Cranks, died April 8, 2003.
Stapelton was a retired worker from LTV after 38 years of service and was a member of the Whiting Moose Lodge. He was a skilled wood worker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Delora and Charles Stapelton.
Survivors include his wife, Oma Stapelton, Whiting, Ind.; three children: Beverly Murzyn and husband, Jeffery, Whiting, Ind.; Deda Elbaor and wife, Drew, Hammond, Ind.; and John Stapelton and wife, Linda, Phoenix; five grandchildren: Nicole Trent, Taryn Elbaor, Eryn Murzyn, James Murzyn and Chara Parfitt; two stepchildren: Tabitha Stapelton and Samanntha Stapelton; four family members: Barbara Dudley, Erica Dudley, Mallarie Schmitt, and Chris Parfitt; three brothers: Martin Stapelton and wife, Gloria, Crown Point, Ind.; Charles Stapelton, Ohio; and William Stapelton and wife, Ann Marie, Hamond, Ind.; two sisters: Virginia Calahan and husband, Edward, Ohio; and Almeda Stapelton, Schererville, Ind.; a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday after 3 p.m. at the Faith Holiness Church in Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Ernest Hensley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Old Middleton Cemetery in Smith.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Cleo Myrtle Anderson, 90, Tavares, Fla., died May 29, 2003, at Ruleme Place in Florida.
A native of Williamsburg, she was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ike Large and Lula Reeves Large Bennett; her husband, Lida Anderson; a daughter, Amanda S. Pinckard; three brothers: Herbert Large, Isaac Large and Earl Bennett; two sisters: Orena Wilson and Ruby Powers; and a son-in-law, Edwin P. Davis.
Survivors include two sons: Maurice W. Anderson and wife, Mary Lou; and Gerald J. Anderson and wife, JoAnne, all of Anderson, Ind.; two daughters: Louella A. Davis, Tavares, Florida; and Betty C. Hamblin and husband, Herman, Eustis, Fla.; her sister: Lois Hamblin, Williamsburg; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Evarts Memorial Gardens.

Harvey 'Alonzo' Burkhart, 73, Jones Creek, died May 27, 2003, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center after a long illness.
Burkhart was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean War. He also believed in the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd Burkhart and Mossie Stewart Burkhart, and 13 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Hensley Burkhart, Jones Creek; nine children: Bradley Burkhart and wife, Edna, Ages; Alonzo Burkhart and wife, Ellen, Evarts; Marquita Burkhart, Wallins; Mossie Burkhart and fiancee, Ronnie Thomas, Verda; Claudia Burkhart, Jones Creek; Rita Pace and husband, Jeff, Ages; Boyd Burkhart, Mississippi; Eugene Burkhart, California; and Vicki Cox, Mississippi; 10 grandchildren: B.J. Burkhart, Stacey Burkhart, Francesca Casteel, David Blevins, Daniel Blevins, Corey Robbins, Christopher Pace, Ben Burkhart, Keisha Cox and Brittany Cox; two great-grandchildren: Lemarr Burkhart and Colby Burkhart; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held today and Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. at the Verda First Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny McCreary officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with military rites observed.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Hassie Dugger, 76, Harlan, died May 29, 2003, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.
She was a member of the Kelly Street Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Geraldine Gothard; and her parents, Burl and Augusta Hensley Tarleton.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Dugger, Harlan; two children: Earlene Napier and husband, Gary, Harlan; and Earl Dugger Jr. and wife, Cindy, Harlan; a brother, Earl Tarleton, Covington; two sisters: Doris Dugger, Covington; and Dovie Thurman, Ohio; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Rich Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Parker officiating.
Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Vernon William Middleton, 79, Verda, died May 30, 2003, at his home.
He was a former supervisor at Harlan Wood Products in Verda and a lifetime member of the Verda Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Howard Middleton; his father, James T. Middleton, a son, William Vernon 'Bill' Middleton II; two sisters: Helen Middleton White and Ruth Allen Middleton Absher; and two brothers: Mose Howard Middleton and Henry Everett Middleton.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Miracle Middleton, Verda; a daughter, Patricia Lynn Magri and her husband, Gene A. Magri, Half Moon Bay, Calif.; a grandson, William Vernon Middleton III, Morristown, Tenn.; and a sister, Wanda Frank, Harlan.
Visitation is after 3 p.m. Sunday at the Verda Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Danny McCreary officiating.
Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Keith.
The Verda Baptist Church men's Sunday school class will serve as pallbearers.
Evarts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
