Raymond L. Gearhart
BENSALEM, P.A. - Raymond L. Gearhart, 85, of Croydon, Pa., died Monday, Dec. 4 at his home. He was born in Morehead and was a resident of Croydon for 55 years. He was a supervisor for General Electric in Philadelphia for 10 years and also with Kaiser in Bristol for 10 years.
He was retired from Pennsbury School District as an instructional assistant in 1986 after 14 years of service. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and served on the U.S.S. Saratoga.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy F. (Dee Fleming)Gearhart. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service today at 1 p.m. at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, Pa., were friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at the Forest Hills Cemetery in Philadelphia. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
Nella Mae Bumgardner Luman
1934-2006
MOREHEAD - Nella Mae Bumgardner Luman, age 72, of Spring Street South, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2006, at her residence. Born July 20, 1934, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Minerva Epperhart Bumgardner. Nella was also preceded in death by her husband: Stanley Leon Luman on January 17, 1987; two children: Gary Stanley Luman and Unisha Rochelle Luman; one grandchild: Amanda Joan Luman; and four brothers: Carl Clifford Bumgardner, Charles Ivan Bumgardner, James Elwood Bumgardner, and an infant brother.
Survivors include one son: Kevin Wayne Luman of Nashville, Tennessee; three daughters: Rhonda Charlene Lewis and her husband Carl of Morehead, Kentucky, Karen Sue Davis and husband Colie of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Markeeta Lynn Hall and husband Keith of Morehead, Kentucky; one sister: Flora Pennington of Morehead, Kentucky; nine grandchildren: Tonya Arnold and her husband Lonnie, Robbie Moore, Sean Davis, Regina Lewis, Ryan Lewis, Jonathan Parker, Allen Luman, Brianna Luman, and Kelsey Luman; and three great-grandchildren: Samantha Arnold, Sarah Arnold, and Brooklyn Moore; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Luman was a former employee of SealMaster and Elwood’s Econo-Wash and a member of Johnson First Church of God. She enjoyed senior citizens’ activities, flower gardening, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr., the Rev. Ben Furman, and the Rev. David Starcher officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Lewis, Jonathan Parker, Sean Davis, Lonnie Arnold, Stephan Pennington, Johnny Pennington, and Frank Harris. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Betty Spears
1932 - 2006
SPRINGFIELD, OHIO - Betty Jean Horton Spears, 73, of Xenia, Ohio, formerly of Haldeman, passed away Nov. 18, at the Springfield Community Hospital in Springfield, Ohio, after a short illness.
She was born Dec. 21, 1932, to Clarence E. Horton Sr. and Ada Lewis Horton of Haldeman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Leonard Spears, on Aug. 29, 2004, one brother, Clarence E. Horton Jr., and an infant sister, Wilma Ruth Horton.
She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Jones and her husband, Larry, of Spring Hill, Fla., and one son, Darryl Spears and his wife, Debbie, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.;
Two grandchildren, Heidi Sternsedt of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Jeremy Spears of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two sisters, Avonell Moore of Xenia, Ohio and Sue Kidd of Morehead.
Betty enjoyed writing poetry, quilting, gardening and taking walks. Her lifetime was spent helping others. When she saw a need, she did her best to supply whatever was needed, whether it be food, clothing, emotional, financial support, or caring for the sick.
Her helping hands were always there. She will surely be missed by family, friends and neighbors.
A memorial service was held at the Church of God on Maple Avenue in Fairborn, Ohio, with her cousin, Rev. Harold Horton, officiating.
The family's apologies to any family and friends who were not notified in time to attend the memorial service.

Samuel Grant Blanton, 76, Dayhoit, died April 10, 2003, at his residence following an illness. He was a retired coal miner and a Kentucky Colonel. He believed in the Pentecostal faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Morris Blanton and Martha B. Helton Gray; his wife, Geraldine Coffer Blanton; a daughter, Marsha Blanton Jones; a son, Rick Blanton and a brother, Robert Blanton.
Survivors include four children: Samuel Blanton II and wife, Pattie, Dallas; Larry Blanton, Lexington; Teri Blanton, Berea; and Carol Napier and husband, Allen, Lexington; two brothers: Martin Blanton, Rockwood, Tenn.; and George Gray, Dayton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren: Angela Farley Gibson, Hank O'Neil Saylor, Jack Farley, Jason Ratliff, Samuel Blanton III, Sarah Blanton, Christy Blanton, Elizabeth Blanton, Carol Blanton, and Kascana Jones; and six great-grandchildren: Peyton Gibson, Nicholas Gibson, Alaina Farley, Jillian Saylor, Timothy Bolton and Joseph E. Dewan.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Loyall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Pastor David and Peggy Wagoner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Harlan County Memorial Gardens in Fresh Meadows.

Freddie Bussey, 74, Lynch, died April 9, 2003, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.
A veteran of the Korean War, Bussey was a mechanist and believed in the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Onie Wallace Bussey.
Survivors include 13 children: Onie Bussey, United Kingdom; Cordie Paige, Campbell, Ohio; Beverly Cosey, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Cynthia Blackman, and Fred Bussey Jr., both of Columbus, Ohio; Fredrick Bussey, Lynch; Jessie Bussey, Youngstown, Ohio; Richard Bussey, Lima, Ohio; Annie Ruth Benson, Columbus, Ohio; Abee Edward Croce, Portland, Ore.; Green B. Lester Cornett, 76, Cumberland, died April 10, 2003, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Harlan County, Cornett served during World War II and worked as a miner at Westmoreland Coal Company.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Mary Dove Hall Cornett; a brother, Delbert Cornett; and a sister, Lura Boggs.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Tucker Cornet, Cumberland; three children: Patsy Early, Hiram; Lester E. 'Gene' Cornett, Louisville; and Jackie Cornett, Hiram; one brother, Corbin Cornett, Hamilton, Ohio; two sisters: Lula Davis, Indianapolis; and Martha Lewis, Hiram.
Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Tri-City Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Yaden officiating.
Burial will follow in the Howard Cemetery in Rosspoint.
