Charles David Farmer, 65 of Watts Creek passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Harlan ARH.
He is the husband of Jeanette Farmer.
Arrangements are pending at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
POPE
Betty Pope, 88 of Cawood passed away Saturday April 27, 2014 at the Lee Regional Medical Center, Pennington Gap, VA following a brief illness.
Mrs. Pope was born Friday May 2, 1924 at Threepoint, KY to the late Mark and Brunetta Massingill Hatmaker. She was a homemaker and member of The Bible Church, Grays Knob.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Willard Pope and 12 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by 3 loving children, Don C. Pope of Pennington Gap, VA, Ann (Jim) Orcutt of Lexington, KY, and Beth (Johnny) Creech of Baxter; 5 grandchildren, Rebecca Edwards, Lee Ann Street, James and David Wagers, and Jonathan Creech; 3 great grandchildren, Caitlyn and Courtney Cox, and Izabella Wagers; she leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends including a special friend, Caroline Spurlock of Middlesboro, KY.
Visitation will be Tuesday April 30, 2013 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating.
LLOYD
Retired US Marine Staff Sergeant (E-6) Arthur Bascom Lloyd JR., 89 of Teetersville, was born on February 17, 1924 in Dayhoit, KY to the late, Bascom Lloyd SR and Cora Collins Lloyd and died Friday, April 26, 2013 at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. He served his country proudly in The United States Marine Corps from 1942 thru 1962. He served in World War II with the 4th Marine Division Machine Gun Platoon in the South Pacific from 1944 thru 1945. He also served in Korea from 1952 thru 1953 where he served as Machine Gun Platoon Leader.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, Lee Lloyd, Ulysses Lloyd and Clifford Lloyd also two sisters, Lillie Mae Ball and Ada Weigand.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Delois “Lois” Lloyd; his son, Mike and wife, Lorrie Lloyd all of Teetersville. His grandchildren, Becky and fiancé, Trevor Sunday, Brittany and husband, Benjamin Cochran and Bradley Lloyd. His great-grandchildren, Benjamin Author Cochran, Addalyn Lily Beth Cochran and Torrie Sunday.
Visitation was Sunday, April 28, 2013 in the Chapel of Henson & Rich Funeral Home.
Funeral services were Monday, April 29, 2013 at 1 o’clock at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Craig officiating.
Full Military Burial Honors by The Harlan County Honor Guard will followed at The Resthaven Cemetery Chapel.
Henson & Rich Funeral Home was charge of arrangements.
FOSTER
Janice Foster, 62 of Harlan, passed away at UK Hospital on April 15, 2013. She was born Oct. 17, 1951.
Her daughter, Recita Foster, will be having a memorial service from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Turner’s Church, located across from Harlan Elementary School.
WEILER
Paul Rowan Weiler, 56, of Science Hill, Kentucky, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at his residence.
He was born in Harlan, Kentucky on September 24, 1956, son of the late Sandford Logan Weiler Sr., M.D. and Betty Fulton Weiler. He was a music teacher and band director at both Franklin and Davis County High Schools and Highland Elementary School in Lincoln County.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Jasper Weiler of Science Hill, one sister, Jayne & (C. Stephen) Hendrickson of Harlan, KY, two brothers, S. Logan & (Rhonda) Weiler Jr. of Lexington and Charles Clay & (Rebecca) Weiler of Florence, KY, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sedahlia and Ike Crase and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Carr Weiler.
A gathering of friends to celebrate Paul’s life will be held from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 4 PM Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Science Hill Church of the Nazarene with Dr. Curtis Sellers officiating.
Interment will be held at Lakeside Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to children in need of musical instruments.

STURGILL
Curtis Sturgill, 80, of Cumberland, KY passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013 following a brief illness. He was born on March 29, 1933 in Eolia KY to the late John and Myrtie Collinger Sturgill. He was a retired coal miner with Arch of KY; and believed in the Pentecostal faith.
Also proceeding him in death is his wife the late Irene Galloway Sturgill.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jo Rouse and husband Raymond of Benham, KY; Sherry Gilbert and husband Thomas of Eolia, KY; a brother Johnny Sturgill of Ovenfork, KY; two sisters Dovie Maggard of Eolia, KY; and Ruth Hensley of Shelbyville, IN. two grandchildren, Angie Lewis and husband Bo and Jody Hornsby. Three great- grandchildren, Trenton Curtis, Alexis, Amber.
The family will receive friends in the chapel of Tri City Funeral Home on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 5-7pm. Funeral service will follow at 7pm with the Rev. Conard Profitt officiating.
Grave side services will held on Monday April 29, 2013 at 11am at the J.D. Maggard Cemetery in Eolia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

DAVENPORT
Ronald Jayson Davenport, Sr., age 72, of Cranks, KY passed away April 27, 2013 at his residence following a long illness. He was born December 6, 1940 in Harlan, KY to the late Morris and Mable Skidmore Davenport. He was a retired coal miner.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Mae Davenport, and brothers, Eddie and Bill Davenport.
He is survived by his children, Sue Bush and husband, Mike, of Cranks, KY, Jayson Davenport and Amy Froman of Nicholasville, KY, grandchildren: Angel Davenport, Addison Miller, Stephanie Masters, and Matthew and Megan Bush, brother, Jerry Davenport, of San Francisco, CA, sisters-in-law: Gail Davenport of Kingsport, TN, Nancy and husband, Jim Brown, of Keith, KY, and Ella and, husband, Steve Mitchell of Cranks, KY.
Honoring Ronald’s wishes, a private service will be held.
