TURNER
Joyce Sutton Turner, 78, of Frankfort, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at her home following an illness. The daughter of the late Cloye Sutton and Elsie Noe Sutton, she was born on February 3, 1935 in Dayhoit, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Andy Turner, Jr.
She spent most of her marriage living in Indianapolis, before moving back to Fresh Meadows in 1979. She lived the last 21 years in Frankfort.
She worked for many years at Community Hospital East, in Indianapolis, as a nursing assistant on the Pediatric floor. She was a long time member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Harlan, acting as Nursery Director in the early years of the church.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her two sons, Robert and John Turner; and her sister, Doris Sutton Croley.
She leaves behind her daughter, Linda Turner; daughter - in- law, Lillie Green Turner; beloved granddaughters, Jessica and Laura Turner; and the three joys of her later years, great- grandsons, Landon, Max, and Will, to mourn her loss. She is also survived by brothers Harold (Jean ) Sutton, Ted (June) Sutton, Butch (Lillie) Sutton, and sister Gladys Sutton Smith White, sisters-in- law, Ruth Turner Schrand and Doris Turner Lee, numerous nephews and nieces, each one very special to her, and many dear and special friends.
Visitation for Joyce will be on Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 5 pm until 7 pm at Harlan Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 7 pm with the Reverend Arnold Martin officiating.
Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery on Monday, August 5, at 1 pm with friends and family serving as pallbearers. Friends and family will meet at 12:30 pm at Harlan Funeral Home to proceed to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

PARSONS
Lorene Parsons, age 87 of Harlan KY went home to be with the Lord and her husband, Paul Parsons, Sr. on August 1, 2013, at Britthaven of the Tri Cities Nursing and Rehabilitation facility following a long battle of Alzheimer’s disease.
She was a born-again Christian and a member of the Yocum Creek Baptist Church. She loved to attend church services whenever it was possible. She loved the Lord God our savior Jesus Christ.
She was born in Woodlawn Pennsylvania to Matt and Pearl Smith, who shortly after her birth, moved to Kentucky. She lived her childhood in London, KY then moved to Harlan.
She was proud to be a Licensed Practical Nurse, having worked at the old Harlan Hospital until its closure, then worked at the Daniel Boone Clinic, where she retired.
Lorene was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 65 years, Paul Parsons, Sr.; mother, Pearl Smith Bell; father, Matt Smith; step-father Gaither Bell; sisters: Irene Kellems, Geneva Hatmaker, Mattie Page and Brenda Hawkins; brothers: George Smith, Tommy Smith, David Bell, and sister-in-law, Ruth Cornett.
Lorene is survived by two sons: Paul Parsons, Jr. and wife Donna, Jacksonville, FL.; Bill Parsons and wife Ginger, Harlan, KY; four grandchildren: Paul Parsons III and wife Sherry, Knoxville, TN; Gregory Parsons, Lexington, KY, Danielle Updagraff and husband Steve, Jacksonville, FL; Lori Parsons-Dotson and husband Andrew, Richmond, KY; great- grandchildren: Justin Ray Burke, Gregory Parsons Jr., Gabrielle Parsons, Jackson Parsons, and Johnthan Parsons, all of Lexington, KY; Joelle and Steven Updagraff of Jacksonville, FL; Eli Parsons-Dotson of Richmond; Sisters: Lois Grayson, Bristol, VA; Brothers: Jim Smith and Matt Smith of Bristol VA; and several wonderful nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their love and thanks to all the staff at Tri-Cities nursing facility for all the love and devotion they showed mother while she was there. May God bless and keep you.

Funeral service will follow visitation at 4 pm with the Rev. Larry Parker and Rev. Bob Rouse officiating.
Graveside service will be at Resthaven Cemetery on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11am. Friends and family will meet at 10:30 am at Harlan Funeral Home to proceed to the cemetery.

FAULKNER-BRYANT
Ethel Rose Faulkner-Bryant, 72, of Frankfort went to meet her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family that loved her dearly. Born on May 4, 1941, she was a native of Lynch, KY in Harlan Co. and the daughter of the late Seber and Janie Louise Jenkins Faulkner. A dedicated homemaker when her daughters were young, Ethel Rose later worked in medical records for Franklin Manor and Owenton Manor nursing homes and retired from Kentucky State Government. She attended Forks of Elkhorn Baptist church in Frankfort.
Survivors include daughters, Louise Bryant-Ritchie (Keith) and Marcelle Bryant (fiancé Jimmie Haynes) both of Frankfort; brothers Roy (Kay) Faulkner, London, KY, Thomas (Ravena) Faulkner, Frankfort; sister Barbara Ann Henry, Savannah, GA; grandchildren Melissa Fortner (fiancé Brian Maddox), Jessica Bryant Howell (Justin), Cody Bryant, Taryn Ritchie, Camden Ritchie; great-granddaughters Kylie Dean and Adrian Bryant. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law Lyndon Henry.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home. Rev. Roy Faulkner will officiate. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Pinehill Cemetery, Corbin, Ky. Pallbearers will be Melissa Fortner, Jessica Bryant Howell, Cody Bryant, Taryn Ritchie, Camden Ritchie, Brian Maddox, Eugene Henry, Tammy Scruggs, and Tommy Faulkner.
Visitation will be held Sunday, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601.

HOISKA
Paul Phillip Hoiska, 68, of Benham, Ky. went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, July, 31 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born in Lynch, Ky to the late Adam Hoiska, Sr and Mary Elizabeth Letanosky Hoiska. Also preceding him in death are siblings, Margaret Ann Hoiska, infant twins Billy and Jimmy Hoiska, Mary Nell, Ethel Balchin, Adam Hoiska, and Helen Begley. He believed in the Baptist faith and attended the Cumberland Nazarene Church.
Paul attended Lynch High School and after graduation he joined the United Stated Army. While in the Army he served in Thailand and Vietnam. He was in the 92nd Engineer Battalion, with an attachment of “Big Red 1”. After returning home he worked for US Steel and Arch of Kentucky until he retired in 1997. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Life member of Vietnam Veterans of America, a member of the American Legion, Cumberland Valley Jaycees, Fields Lodge #832 F&AM, and the UMWA.
He was a devoted family man to his wife of 35 years, Kathy Hoiska, his son, Paul Phillip Hoiska II, and wife Rebecca, Partridge, and his 2 Granddaughters, Kamryn Jenna and Kylee Alexis, who lovingly called him their Little Papaw. He also leaves to mourn his passing 3 sisters, Francis Burton, Lynch Ky, Mildred Warf, Cumberland Ky, and Betty Carroll, Alabama. 1 brother, Jack Letanosky, Florida. Several nieces and nephews, a special friend, Clay Dixon and his special dog, Toby.
The family will receive friends in the chapel of Tri City Funeral Home on Saturday, August 3, 2013 from 6-9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 4 pm in the chapel of Tri City Funeral Home With Rev. Dillard Stanley and Pastor Jimmy Jenkins officiating. Following the funeral services burial will take place in the Lewis Cemetery at Hiram, Ky. With full military rites by the Harlan Honor Guard.

CHILDERS
Sharon Childers of Cumberland, KY passed away at the Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY on Saturday, August 03, 2013, at the age of 60 years. She was born in Letcher County, KY on December 30, 1952 to the late Elmer and Edith Irene Day Miles. Sharon was a beautician and believed in the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by step siblings, Odell, Oaksie, Verdmae, and Vickie.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Kenneth B. Childers, of Cumberland; daughter, Kendra Cavins (James) of Benham; step-children, Lisa Childers and Regina Lynder of Sacramento, CA; brother, Sherril Lynn Miles (Cheryl) of Cowan; sisters, Shelia L. Nash of Louisville and Joyce A. Childers (Larry) of Cumberland; step siblings, Ona Fay, Tilda, Jeanette, Phillip, Earl David, and Wendall; and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home in Benham, KY on Wednesday, August 07, 2013, between 6 – 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 08, 2013, at 1 pm in the Chapel with the Reverend Roger Collinger officiating. Interment will follow in the Miles Cemetery in Cowan, KY. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

GREENE
Hobert Greene, 56, of Eastbrooke passed away Sat. at his home. He was a retired coal miner.
Hobert was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Thelma Gambrel Green; and two sisters, Anna Davis and Judy Green.
Survivors include two children, Joe Greene and wife, Holly, Georgia; Shirley Greene, Knoxville; a brother, Mike Green and wife, Sandy, Ages; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 pm Monday at Evarts Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 12 noon Tuesday at the Evarts Funeral Home with burial to follow at Evarts Memorial Gardens.
