CARNAHAN
Bernice Murl Carnahan, age 90, of Harlan, KY passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 after a long illness. She was born April 5, 1923 in Harlan, KY to the late Caleb and Nancy Powers. She was a homemaker and believed in the Church of God faith.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lester Carnahan, brothers, Lloyd, Clarence, and Leonard Powers, and sister Bertha McKeehan.
She is survived by her twin brother, Ernest Powers, of South Carolina.
Visitation will be Sunday April 28, 2013 from 5 to 7PM at Mount Pleasant Funeral home with funeral immediately following at 7PM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant with Rev. John Carter officiating. Graveside Service will be Monday, April 29, 2013 at 11AM at Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY with friends and family serving as pallbearers.

PACE
Arnold “Junior” Pace, age 69, of Grays Knob, KY passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness. He was born March 25, 1944 in Harlan, KY to the late Elbert and Mallie Pace. He was a retired tipple worker and coal truck driver for the Grays Knob Coal Co.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Jewell Short.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Pace, of Grays Knob, KY, His sons, Mark Pace of Grays Knob, KY and Robert Pace and wife, Ellie of Richmond, KY, brother Roger Pace and wife, Debbie of Grays Knob, KY, nephews: Tracy Short, Johnny Short, Shelby Short, Jr., Jeff Short, Roger Pace, Jr., and Michael Pace, nieces: Kimberly Pace Zunda, Lisa Short, and Debbie Short.
A Graveside Burial service will be held Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Grays Knob Cemetery, Grays Knob, KY with the Reverend Doug Daniels officiating. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

BLANTON
Brenda Renee Blanton, 28, of Baxter passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, at her residence following a long illness. She was born November 13, 1984 in Harlan County.
Brenda is survived by her parents, Ken Blanton, Loyall, and Brenda Joyce Ransom Blanton, Baxter; three brothers, Brian Blanton, North Carolina; Michael Terry Blanton, Michigan; and Terry Lee Blanton, Virginia; two half-brothers, Kenneth Blanton and Robert Blanton, California; five sisters, Diana Barnes and husband Norman, Texas; Treasa Lowno, South Dakota; Kimberly Shipman, Wallins; Crystal Blanton, Evarts; and Jessica Blanton, Coldiron; two half-sisters, Irene Blanton, California and Charlene Rogers, Indiana.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12 until 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in the chapel of Loyall Funeral Home with funeral service following at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Jack Carmical officiating.
Burial will be in the New Creech Cemetery, Wallins, KY.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

CREECH
Patricia “Patsy” Creech, age 78, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Heritage Center. Patsy was a loving wife and mother. She graduated from a business college in Louisville, KY. Through the years, she worked as a secretary to the chief engineer at US Steel in Lynch, KY; secretary in the engineering department at Union Carbide in Oak Ridge, TN; administrative assistant at First United Methodist Church in Morristown; and assisted with her mother’s business, Kathryn’s Dress Shop in Morristown. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Burford and Buelah Kathryn Russell.
She is survived by her husband, R. W. “Jack” Creech; daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Kevin Wells, Stacy and Scott Slabaugh; granddaughters, Rebecca Wells, Katie Slabaugh; grandson, Jacob Slabaugh; sister and brother-in-law, Gayle and Diris Roach; and brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Patsy Russell.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Cutshaw will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to UT Medical Center.
The family would like to thank the staff of Morristown – Hamblen Hospital, the staff of Heritage Center, and Dr. Bonnie Vick for the care Patsy received during her long illness.

FARLEY
Mr. Jimmy Farley, age 79, of Brodhead, passed away Tues. April 23, 2013 at Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Ky.
He was born on September 22, 1933 in Baxter, Ky., a son of the late Henry K. Farley and Ida Beatrice Smith Farley. Jimmy served his country in the US Armed Forces. He had been in the Retail Job market for many years, specificially as Manager of the General Dollar Store. He served as a Basketball Referee for thirty years. He enjoyed fishing, University of Kentucky basketball and engaging in Bible discussions. Jimmy regularly attended Olive Branch Messianic Church. On May 10, 1989 he was united in holy matrimony to Wanda Prows and they enjoyed twenty three years together.
Those left to mourn his passing include his wife, Wanda P. Farley of Brodhead, Ky.; Two daughters- Deborah Farley and Pamela Hembree; One grandchild, Dalton Hembree. As well as a host of friends and neighbors.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, and one grandchild-Lindsey Lakes.
Visitation for Mr. Jimmy Farley will be Friday, April 25, 2013 from 12Noon-2PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 25, 2013 at 2PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Terry Orcutt officiating; burial will follow in the Woodstock Cemetery.

KILGORE
Robert “Bob” Kilgore, 77, husband of JoAnn Kilgore, died Sat. April 27, 2013 at his residence.
Born Jan. 14, 1936 in Wise, VA, he was the son of the late David Dugan and Lena Mae Peck Kilgore. Bob was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a 1955 graduate of Harlan City High School, a retired machine mechanic and administrator for Georgia Pacific (formerly Dixie Cup) after forty four years of service and a member of the local Teamsters Union 651. He was a born again Christian of the Baptist faith.
Survivors other than his wife include a daughter, Kimberlee (John) Smoot; a sister, Ernestine Kilgore; two grandchildren, Brandon and Jessica Smoot, all of Lexington.
Visitation will be 5:30 pm – 8 pm Tues.
Funeral services will be 11 am Wed. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. by Rev. James Heard.
Burial will take place at 2:30 pm Wed. in Resthaven Cemetery, Harlan, KY with graveside services by Rev. John E. Smoot.

Survivors: He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 33 years, Terri Williams; a son, David Kent Williams II and wife, Leesa, of Corbin; a daughter, Katherine (Katie) Lynn Schmidt and husband, Covie, of Lexington, KY; a granddaughter, Josie Williams; and a grandson, Colton Schmidt, who were the twinkle in his eyes. A brother, George Williams, Sunshine; three sisters, Betty Cassim, Teetersville; Mary Blanton, Rosspoint; and Michelle Gritsko, Runnemede, New Jersey; His mother-in-law, Carol Lasley Williams; brother-in-law, Robert Williams, and sister-in-law, Toni Farmer; he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends; two special workers, Jack Napier and Mark Sutton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George McKinley and Mabel Wilder Williams, and sister, Alice Faye Dickensheets..
Facts: Harlan County Surveyor and local businessman, David K. Williams, 52 of Teetersville passed into the arms of his Savior on Friday morning, May 15, 2009, following a short bout with cancer with his family by his bedside at the Harlan ARH. Mr. Williams was a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent of the Teetersville Baptist Church and member of the Harlan Lodge # 879 F & AM. He was owner/operator of David Williams Land Surveying Company for the past 13 years. He was a graduate of LMU and the Harlan Independent School System. He loved to hunt, fish and garden .
