Ona Brummett, 74 of Wallins passed away Thursday Oct. 29, 2015 at the St. Joseph Hospital-Lexington.
She was born March 3, 1941 in Harlan to the late Hobert and Lela Saylor Hall. She was a homemaker and member of the Blackmont Baptist Church.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husbands, Calvin Brummett and Claude Maggard, Jr.; her daughter, Kathy Lynn Sullivan; brother, Kenneth Hall.
She is survived by her children, Calvin Junior (Rechiel) Brummett of Coldiron and Leisha (Thomas) Stephens of Wallins; brothers, Harry Hall of Wallins and Connie Hall of Cincinnati, OH; sister, Joan North of Brownies Creek, KY. 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; she leaves nieces, nephews other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday (Nov. 2) at the Blackmont Baptist Church with Rev. David Howard officiating.
Burial will follow in the Upland Cemetery at Hulen.
Visitation will be after 5:00 pm Sunday (Nov. 1) at the Blackmont Baptist Church.

Furl Ann (Kelly) Davis

Harlan-Furl (Kelly) Davis, 90 of Harlan passed away Sunday Nov. 8, 2015 at the Harlan ARH.
She was born Sept. 24, 1925 in Wise Co., VA to the late Rev. Denver and Myrtle Price Kelly. She worked for 20 years with Zeiden’s Drug Co.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Cecil Kelly.
She is survived by her sisters, Madelin Sasser of Oklahoma, Lois Lubousky of Louisville, KY and a brother, Glen D. Kelly of Louisville, KY; she leaves a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends, including Gene and Patsy Short, Ester Mae Sizemore all of Holmes Mill, KY.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday (Nov. 11) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Boggs officiating.
Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY.
Visitation will be Wednesday (Nov. 11) from 11:00 am until the funeral hour at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Lisa Abraham

Lisa Lee Abraham, 51 of Baxter passed away Monday November 9, 2015 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington, KY following a sudden illness.
Lisa was a native of Harlan, KY and was born Nov. 2, 1964 to the late Benjamin Louis Abraham, Jr and Joyce Evelyn Jones Abraham.
A 1982 graduate of Harlan High School, she attended Lincoln Memorial University where she studied chemistry; however she chose to pursue her dream as a music educator and thus Sound Effects was established. She was an example of a truly unselfish person and her gift of music, which she shared with so many, will keep her alive forever. Her love for her community and her alma mater, Harlan High School was evident by her 11 years as the Harlan Alumni Association President. She was the true epitome of “Once A Dragon, Always A Dragon” She also brought the love of music to her church as the Pianist at the Harlan Christian Church.
She leaves those behind to mourn her passing are Brothers, Rodney (Debbie) Abraham of Richmond, KY, Todd (Denise) Abraham of Harlan; niece, Abbey Brooke Abraham; nephews, Benjamin Todd Abraham and Adam Lee Abraham; she leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends, and the countless music students over the years.
A celebration of Lisa’s Life and the music she so loved will be held 1:00 pm Saturday (Nov.14) at the Harlan Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Noah officiating.
She will be laid to rest beside her beloved parents at the Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY.
Pallbearers will be Todd Abraham, Ben Abraham, Adam Abraham, Rodney Abraham, Mike King, Jeff Horn, Brad Abraham, and Greg Abraham.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeff Jones and the many current and former students who came to know her as Ms. Lisa.
Visitation will be Saturday Nov. 14 from 11:00 am until the funeral hour at the Harlan Baptist Church.
Her last unselfish act, has carried on even after death, as her loving family chose to make Lisa an Organ Donor, so even in death, others will have the gift of life.

Edna Gayle (Walbright) Hall

Died: Fri., Jun. 20, 2014
Edna Gayle Hall, 79 of Keith, Kentucky died Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. Edna was a faithful and active member of the Kelly Street Baptist Church and loved helping others. She was born on December 23, 1934 a native of Harlan County, Kentucky the daughter of the late Hamilton and Mary Ann Walbright.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Laura “Flossie” Slaybaugh, Ruby Lee Poe, and Garnett Jane Walbright as well as two brothers, Hamilton D. Walbright, Jr. and Benton Daniel Walbright.
She is survived by her husband, David E. Hall of Keith; son, John David Hall of Keith; and two sisters, Ruth Hurst of Coldwater, MI and Harriett Ann Meyer of Harlan, KY. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and church family will also mourn her passing.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 23, 2014 at 1:00 PM also in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home. The Rev. Donnie Adkisson will be officiating the services.
Interment will follow the funeral in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, Kentucky. Men of the Kelly Street Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.

Ronnie "Pig" E Brewer

Ronald “Pig” Brewer, 59 of Harlan, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 following a brief battle with cancer. He was born December 16, 1954 to the Late James “Boone” and Lorene Gaines Brewer. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Brewer.
Surviving are two brothers, John and wife Jean Brewer of Mary Alice, KY and Russell and wife Betty Brewer of Pansy, KY; one sister, Peggy and husband Larry Nevels of Ocala, FL. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 18, 2014 with the funeral following at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Anderson Laws and Jones Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Keith will be officiating the services.
Interment will be Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Wright Cemetery in Teetersville, KY. The Rev. Kyle Burnette will officiate interment services. The Harlan Honor Guard will provide military rites.

Mildred (Sizemore) Fernsel

Mildred Sizemore Fernsel, 88 of Harlan passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at her home.
Mrs. Fernsel was born June 24, 1925 in Nolansburg, KY to the late Irvin Howard Sizemore and Annie Elizabeth Woods Sizemore. She was a retired LPN and a faithful Christian. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where she served as Director of Adventist Community Services and Church Treasurer. She loved giving Bible Studies.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband and life partner of 31 years, Willis Fernsel; son, Stephen D. Ringstaff; and several siblings.
She is survived by her sons, Lyndon (Bianca) Ringstaff and Mykal (Melissa) Ringstaff all of Harlan; her daughter, Marilyn Ringstaff of Rome, GA; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kenneth Sizemore of Harlan, and David Sizemore of Monroe Township, PA; 3 sisters, Evelyn Stender of Cleveland, GA, Anna Lee Resado of Spring Hill, FL, and Hazel Cristaldi of North Beach, Maryland.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Bluefield, West Virginia with Pastor Mykal Ringstaff officiating.
No Public Visitation is planned.

Robert "C-Cat" Lee Hensley

Robert Lee ”C-Cat” Hensley, Jr., 61 of Dayhoit, Kentucky died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Harlan County, a Coal Truck Drive, and believed in the Pentecostal faith.
He was preceded in death by his parent Bob Hensley and Dolly Hall and one brother, Andrew Jackson Hensley.
Surviving are his wife, Shelia Hensley; three children, Robert (Sandra) Hensley, Rebecca (Fiancé Steven Farmer) Hensley, and Colan (Fiancé Trish Slusher) Hensley; and five grandchildren. Also surviving are five brothers, Jim, Clarence, Bobby, William, and Chester Hensley and two sisters, Martha Hensley and Barbara Hensley.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Harlan County Memorial Gardens at Lay Hill/Tremont, Kentucky. The Rev. Doug Daniels will be officiating.
