A memorial service for Ellen "Frankie" Prewitt Collier, of Sterling Drive, will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church by the Rev. Tommy Valentine. Family will receive friends following the service at the church. Entombment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Louisville.
Born Sept. 14, 1913, in Richmond, she was a daughter of the late Marion M. and Missy Laura Curtis Prewitt. She was a member of Eastern Star Harmony Chapter of Honolulu, Hawaii, Daughters of the Nile Egyptian Temple, Honolulu, was Hawaii state president of Business and Professional Women Club and served on many national committees. She also was a member of the Garden Club of Danville and Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and McDowell Foundation, and Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. She had been a member of Society of Sponsors of the U.S. Navy, through which she sponsored a ship. She was listed in Who's Who in American Woman and Who's Who in the West, and the Dictionary of International Biography, London, England. She was the widow of James Robert Collier.
Survivors include a sister, Louise Prewitt of Louisville.
Memorials may go to McDowell Hospital Auxiliary or McDowell Foundation.

Howard L. Carmickle
MORELAND -- Services for Howard Luther Carmickle, 77, of Burgin, formerly of Moreland, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Revs. John Sanders and Doug Lester. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.
He died Monday at his home.

Flora Dailey
LANCASTER -- Services for Flora "Shorty" Dailey, 72, of Conns Lane will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev. Jim Cook. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.
He died Tuesday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
Born March 24, 1928, in Garrard County, she was a daughter of the late Omar and Effie Harp Shearer. She was retired from Palm Beach Co. in Danville and a member of Lancaster Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her husband, W.C. Dailey; three sons, Danny and Willie Dailey, both of Lancaster, and David Dailey of Preachersville; a daughter, Patricia A. Dailey Sanford of Danville; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jody, Danny, Michael and David Dailey, Jeff Sanford and Brian Lamb.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.

Esther P. Derry
WAYNESBURG -- Services for Esther Pauline Derry, 79, of Rockford, Ill., formerly of the Kings Mountain area, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by Mike Mullins. Burial will be in Gooch Cemetery.
She died Sunday in Rockford.
Born July 8, 1920, in Livingston, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Fannie David Brown. She was an assembler for Clinton Electronics in Rockford, a member of the Methodist Church, Eagles Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was the widow of William Derry.
Survivors include four sons, Jack and William Derry of Rockford, James Derry of Kings Mountain and Ronald Derry of Machesney Park, Ill.; three daughters, Vivian Richmond, Ann Mitchell and Wanda Smartwood, all of Rockford; two sisters, Betty Smith of Rockford and Roberta Swinney of Machesney Park; 27 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Frank Derry.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

Dorothy Cummins Portier, 88, of Covington, formerly of Boyle County, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice Unit in Covington.
Born Dec. 19, 1911, in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Henry M. and Rena Anderson Cummins. She was a homemaker and a member of Latonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Ruby Yankey of Danville, Clara Duncan of Louisville and Lorene Hundley of Columbus, Ind.; two bothers, Walter and Ralph Cummins, both of Danville; a son-in-law who was her caregiver, Bob Eger of Cincinnati; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Eger, and a son, Brantley Carey.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Ted Bretz. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
Visitation is after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Reva Mae Vest, 68, of Lisa Avenue died of natural causes Saturday at her home.
Born Aug. 22, 1931, in Casey County, she was a daughter of Beatrice Godbey Rigney of Casey County and the late Edwin Rigney. She was a librarian for the Boyle County Public Library for 23 years and was a charter member of Indian Hills Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Garland Vest; two daughters, Melinda Stafford of Danville and Debbie Pierce of Lawrenceburg; two sons, Jody Vest of Danville and Steven Vest of Lawrenceburg; two brothers, Russell Rigney of Louisville and Gerald Rigney of Casey County; two sisters, Janice Boyd of Fairfield, Ohio, and Glenna Mills of Casey County; two grandsons.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Indian Hills Christian Church by Odis Clark. Burial will be in Watson's Chapel Christian Church Cemetery, Casey County.
Pallbearers will be Scott Stafford, Neil Mills, Brandon Mills, George Vest, Bob Pierce and Kirby Stafford.

Born May 22, 1911, in Marion County, she was a daughter of the late Mosby "Bud" and Mary Ellen Ellis Helm. She was a retired nurse and a member or Liberty United Methodist Church.

Buel J. Gullett
HARRODSBURG -- Buel Jay Gullett, 57, of Daisy Street, died of natural causes Saturday at his home.
Born March 24, 1943, in Magoffin County, he was a son of the late Robert and Mary Bell Reed Gullett. He had served in the Kentucky National Guard for eight years and was a member of Benton Baptist Church and a former autobody mechanic for Nevada Auto Sales.
Survivors include his wife, Dorkas Coslow Gullett; a son, Allen Gullett of Versailles; two daughters, Cynthia Davis and Melissa Johnson, both of Harrodsburg; five brothers, Donnie, Jerry, Verlin and Bobby Gullett and Troy Francis, all of Harrodsburg; a sister, Susan Francis of Harrodsburg; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Gullett.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by Donnie Releford. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

James T. Walker
HARRODSBURG -- James Thomas "J. Tom" Walker, 68, of Salvisa died Friday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Aug. 28, 1931, in Mayo, he was a son of Dorothy Walker of Harrodsburg. He was a former bulldozer operator for Lawrenceburg Construction and retired from Florida Tile after 24 years. He was a member or Meaux Chapel in Mayo.
Other survivors include his wife, Pocahontas Bradshaw Walker; a sister, Doris Johnson of Versailles.
Services were today at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by the Revs. Kenneth Whitehouse and Mary R. White.
Burial is in Robinson Road Cemetery, Burgin.
Pallbearers were Alfred Russell, James Patton, Scott Jones, Kenneth Jones, Jackie Freeman and Bob Martin.
