1935-2010
MOREHEAD – Ieda Hall Lemaster, age 74, of Soldier, Kentucky, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky.
She was born April 26, 1935, in Soldier, Kentucky, daughter of Pressie Hall and Mary Clark Webb. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Dwayne Haines and Scoty Keith Haines, and one sister, Thelma Lewis.
Ieda is survived by one son, Danny Lee Haines and wife Rita of Bradenton, Florida; one daughter, Mary Evelyn Poor of Northport, Florida; three brothers, James Buddy Hall and wife Nancy of Soldier, Kentucky, Virgil Webb, Jr., and wife Drema of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Gary Lee Webb and wife Dottie of Olive Hill, Kentucky; four sisters, Linda Reeder, Shelva Gail Reeder and husband Bill, Carolyn Sue Strouse and husband Ronnie, and Dessie Marlene Gee and husband Arnold, all of Mansfield, Ohio; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Ieda was a member of the Flat Fork Church of God.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Delmar Logan, Jr., and Rev. Bobby Day officiating. Burial was in the Clark Cemetery at Soldier.
Pallbearers were Bill Hall, Preston Hall, James Buddy Hall, Jr., and grandchildren.
Visitation was Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.
Don Albert Mabry
1935-2010
MOREHEAD – Don Albert Mabry, age 74, of Mauk Ridge, Elliott County, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born November 5, 1935, at Ault, Kentucky, in Elliott County, son of the late Dee and Coney Parish Mabry.
Don is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Adkins Mabry; four sons and daughters-in-law: Jeffrey A. and Florenia Mabry of Mauk Ridge in Elliott County, J. D. and Linda Mabry of Porter Creek in Carter County, Mark A. and Kelly Mabry of Mauk Ridge in Elliott County, Don A. Jr. and Belinda Mabry of Morehead; and one daughter and son-in-law: Mary L. and Johnny Belcher of Pike County.
Also surviving are twelve grandchildren: Jeremiah, Jeffrey, Jessica, Cody, Shawn, Hannah, Chase, Samantha, Andrew, Summer, Sarah, and Chad, and two great grandchildren: Adam and Zachary.
Don was a retired Boilermaker Journeyman with Local 105 in Piketon, Ohio, and a member of Soldier Masonic Lodge No. 708.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Danny Belcher officiating. Entombment will follow in East Carter County Memory Gardens in Grayson, Kentucky.
Pallbearers: Jeffrey Mabry, Shawn Mabry, Jeremiah Mabry, Andrew Mabry, Cody Fleming, Chase Fleming, and Herman Conn.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2010, and anytime Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010, by Soldier Masonic Lodge No. 708.
Arrangements were under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Elmer White
1920-2009
OHIO - Elmer White, born in Morehead, Ky. on January 29, 1920 to the late William (Willie) and Nora White, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, December 28, 2009 in Monroe, Ohio.
He was the beloved husband of the late Edna (née Wilson) for 66-1/2 years. Loving father of Wanda (Louis) Kaelin and John (Helen) White. Grandfather of Dana (Jason) Morgan and Aaron (Shelley) White. Great-grandfather of Evan, Caleb and Ryan Morgan and Aaron and Jacob White. Brother of Esther Lowe of Logan, West Va. and the late Edna Conn and Ethel Coldiron. Uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church of New Burlington, Ohio for 60 years. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Springdale, Ohio. He will be greatly missed by friends and loved ones but never forgotten.

LaVonne Bell Smith, 97 formerly of Harlan, KY, Sarasota, FL, and Georgetown, KY., passed away Wednesday Nov. 11, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her loving Husband, Harry Weaver (Barney) Smith, parents, Rev. Harry L. & Inez Fortune Bell, and her brothers, Rev. Winston Bell and Rev. Keith Ball.
Mrs. Smith is survived by 2 brothers, Dr. Wayne (Virginia) Bell of Lexington, KY, and Raymond Bell of Reston, VA; and a dear sister-in-law, Mary Catherine Surgener of Harlan, KY. She leaves behind to cherish her memory three loving daughters, Donna K. Smith of Harlan, KY, Charlotte (Gervis) Showalter of Georgetown, KY, Marybelle (Jim) Morgan of Harlan, KY. She was a wonderful “Mimo” to her six grandchildren, Ginger S. (Ed) Saker, David (Lori) Showalter, Mark (Crystal) Showalter, Sean (Mindi) Kirklin, Meredith (Mat) Slechter, and Margaret K. Morgan. Thirteen great-grandchildren adored their Mimo along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was richly blessed with loving caregivers at Dover Manor Nursing Home and close friends, Sylvia McFarland and Janet Harting.
Lavonne Smith was former church organist and choir director of the Harlan Christian Church, former choral director of the Harlan Musettes and taught piano/voice.
A “Celebration of Life” service will be held 4:00 pm Sunday (Nov. 15) at the Harlan Christian Church, 130 S. 1st Street, Harlan, KY 40831.
Interment will be 10:00 am Monday (Nov. 16) at the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons and Elders of the Harlan Christian Church.
A gathering of family and friends will be after 3:00 pm until the funeral hour on Sunday (Nov. 16) at the Harlan Christian Church.

Peggy Lamberson Curtis, 72, of Wallins, KY passed from this life on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at her home following an illness. She was born October 9, 1940 in Bay, Arkansas. Peggy believed in the Church of God faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Lamberson and Ruth Wells Lamberson; a daughter, Terry Lynn Curtis; a sister, Janet Smith; and a brother, Donald Lamberson.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 ½ years, Harry C. Curtis, Wallins, KY; a son, Ricky Curtis and wife, Faye, Johnston City, IL; two daughters, Vicky English, of Herrin, IL; and Karen Ori and fiancé Kevin Summers, of Freeman Spur, IL; one sister, Vivian and Bill Smith; and one brother, Dale and Donna Smith.
Also survived by grandchildren: Ricky and Bridget Curtis, Destiny and Donnie Ogden, Nicholas and Ashley Ori, April and Mickey Lott; great-grandchildren, Triston and Trevor Curtis; Jayden, Dillon and Chance Ogden; Kyler Morrison; Jamani and Arista Hill; Graclyn Skaggs, and Paisley Ori; and close family friends, Nicholas Ori, Sr. and Jim English.
Services for Peggy will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 2 pm at the Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy, IL. Entombment will follow.

Maggie Messer, age 77 of Cawood, KY went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at her home following a brief illness. She was born January 6, 1936 to the late James Edward Kirk and Ara Jane Hensley Kirk. Maggie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She believed in the Church of God faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Henry Kirk.
Left to mourn her passing is her husband of 61 years, Blane Messer of Cawood, KY; her children, Linda Cargo and husband Bob of Katy, TX, Connie Messer of New Tazewell, TN, Annette Daniels of Cawood, KY and Keith Messer and wife Amy of Cawood, KY; one brother, Johnny Kirk and wife Cathy of Cawood, KY; one sister, Nancy Jones and husband Otis of Dayhoit, KY; 6 Grandchildren, Justin Rogers, Lacy Moore, Shawna Danniels, Blaine Hodgkins and wife Sarah, Candace Combs and husband Greg, Tia Caldwell and husband Doug; 7 great grandchildren, Matthew Moore, Sebastian Danniels, Gunnar Combs, Mara Rogers, Anakin Rogers, Carter Caldwell, and Kamren Hodgkins. Stevie Johnson, 58 of Dayhoit passed away Monday July 8, 2013 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Stevie was born Nov. 13, 1955 in Bell Co., to the late Ray and Margaret Johnson. He believed in the Holiness Faith.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Ira Ray Johnson.
He is survived by 4 sisters, Teresa Johnson of Loyall, Georgia Johnson of Dayhoit, Barbara Young of Dayhoit, Charlene Jones of Fairview; 1 brother, Boyd Johnson of Rio Vista; special sister in law, Wilma Johnson; special friends, Eric Evans and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Wednesday July 10, 2013 from 5 until 8:00 pm at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 8:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones with Evangelist Wanda Osborne officiating.
