HAMMONS
Kathleen Hammons, age 81, of Eolia, KY passed away at the Hazard ARH Hospital on Thursday, June 20, 2013. She was born to the late Henry and Cora Elkins Boggs at Ovenfork, KY on April 26, 1932. Kathleen was a member of the Rock Vine Baptist Church and spent her life being homemaker for her husband and children.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Hammons; and five sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by her children, Ginny Boggs and Willard of Partridge, KY, Lester Cornett and Joyce of Eolia, KY, Sandy King and Tootsie of Eolia, KY, Mike King and Lynn of Illinois, Bobby Hammons and Amy of Illinois, and Dana Petterson and Fred of Totz, KY; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Rock Vine Baptist Church in Partridge, KY on Saturday, June 22, 2013, and Sunday, June 23, 2013, between the hours of 6 – 9 pm. Funeral services will be held on at the church on Monday, June 24, 2013, at 1 pm with Pastor Bobby Eldridge and Roger Jones. Interment will follow in the Maggard Cemetery in Partridge, KY.
Pallbearers will be Willard Boggs, James Boggs, Lester Cornett, Jr., Paul Hoiska, Fred Petterson, and Johnny Maggard, Jr.

TURNER
Ada Carol Turner age 74 passed away at Harlan ARH Thursday June 20, 2013 after a long illness. She was born in Harlan County, Ky and Lived all her Life in Harlan County. She believed in the Baptist Faith.
Preceded her in death are her Parents ; Creed and Eva E. Brown Turner, One brother ; Aubrey L. Turner.
She is survived by 2 sisters; Imojean Turner Snyder, Wallins, Ky. and Elaine Turner Surface of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Graveside services will be Saturday June 22, 2013 at 4:30PM at Abners Branch Cemetery with the Rev. Eugene Harris officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

GREGORY
Robert Frank Gregory, age 92, died Thursday, June 20, 2013, in Corbin, KY. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a 66 year member of the Masons and a 62 year member of the Scottish Rite. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps.
Frank was married
to Isabella Wright and Margaret Downs, both preceding him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Teresa (Ben) Ward of Somerset, KY. Also surviving are two granddaughters: Erin (Joe) Oaks of Gallatin, TN and Ellen (Michael) Wilson of Louisville, KY; three great grandchildren: Samuel and Lauren Oakes and Rebecca Wilson. He is also survived by a sister, Maude Mills of Flat Lick, KY, along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at Hart Funeral Home in Corbin, KY on Monday, June 24 with visitation from noon until 2:0O p.m. with services beginning at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Ron Green will officiate. Masonic Rites will be performed prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Hammons Cemetery Flat Lick, KY, with military honors by the D.A.V. Chapters 158 & 66. Family members will serve as pallbearers.

ROWE
Mark Rowe age 44 of Dione, Ky passed away June 18, 2013 at Harlan ARH. He was born April 17, 1969 in Harlan, KY . He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his father; George Rowe.
He is survived by his wife; Sandy Rowe of Dione, KY, Mother, Mona Lou Burkhart Rowe of Dione, Ky. Step children: Gary (Lyndsey) Peterson Jr. of Corbin, KY, Melanie (Kevin) Blankenship of Richmond, KY, one brother; Anthony (Billie) Rowe of Baxter, KY, grandchildren; Brennan Gilliam and Liam Peterson, nephews; Derrick Rowe and Aaron Rowe and a host of other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be Friday, June 21, 2013 at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home from 6PM to 9PM. Funeral will be held Saturday June 22, 2013 at 1PM at the Church of Jesus Christ in Baxter, Ky. with Rev. Pete Rowe officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery in Keith, Ky.

NIDAY
Jerry William Niday, 61, of Wallins, Kentucky died Tuesday, June 18 at his residence in Wallins. Jerry was the owner and operator of Asam’s Towing and Recover. He attended the #1 Banner Fork Church in Wallins, KY.
Preceding him in death were his parents Bill and Elizabeth Niday as well as three sisters: Jackie Crider, Anna Vaughn, and Pauline Reliford.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Thomas Niday as well as four daughters: Anna Clem and husband Michael of Simpsonville, KY; Sabrina Hansel and husband Lovell; Amy Hensley and Husband Travis; Morgan Allen and husband Richard all of Wallins. One sister Jill Jackson survives. Three Grandchildren: Coty Alred, William “Bam Bam” Hansel, and Alyssa Hensley as well as one soon expected great-grandchild. Several specials friends: Jennifer Thomas, Michael Howard, Tommy Noe, and Bill Bloomer also mourn his passing. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be in #1 Banner Fork Church in Wallins, KY from 5 until 8 pm Thursday, June 20 with funeral services following immediately at the church. The Reverends Don Thomas and Jimmy Thomas will officiate.

SMITH
Alonzo B “LB” Smith age 70 of Stanfield KY, passed away June 17, 2013. He was born January 13, 1943 in Harlan County, KY to the late Byrd and Effie (Hall) Smith. He was a coal miner/construction worker and believed in the Holiness Faith.
Besides his father and mother, he is preceded in death by his brothers, John Henry and Leroy Smith, and his wife, Frances Smith. Nephews: Don Irvin, Larry Irvin, Freddy Farmer, John Inman, Jeff Smith.
Left to mourn his passing is his children Donna Downs (Mitchell) of Wallins, Ky and Tinna Anderson (Herman) of Stanfield KY; brother Danny Smith of Dayhoit, Ky; sisters Colleen Smith of Graysknob, Ky, Helen Bennett of Morristown, TN, Kilia Irvin of Smith Ky, Henritta (Booties) Inman of Harlan Ky; Shirley Howard (E.L.) of GraysKnobs, KY.grandchildren: Michelle (Rod) of Corbin Ky, Crystal (John)Wallins, Ky, Anthony Anderson, Katinna Anderson. Great Grandchildren: Lexi, Issac, Travis Ray, and Dylan . Special friend Elizabeth Carmichael of Stanfield Ky.
Visitation will be at the Church of the True Temples of God, Fairview, KY starting on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 5PM. Visitation will continue until the funeral. Funeral will be Friday, June 21, 2013 at 2PM at the church with Rev. Robert Keith officiating. Burial will follow at the Harlan County Memorial Gardens with friends and family serving as pallbearers.

Rodney Clyde McMillian, age 66, of Woodland, MI passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 24, 1946 in Verda, KY, to Clyde and Henrietta (Howard) McMillian.
He is survived by his Wife of 46 years, Connie McMillian of Woodland; his Children, Gary (Darla) McMillian of Hastings, Cindy (Jason) Burr of Hastings, and Rod Jr. (Tina) McMillian of Alto; his Grandchildren, William, Bryan, Trey, and Ashlyn; his Mother, Henrietta McMillian of Cawood, KY; his Brothers, Greg (Lola) of Baxter, KY, Grady of Cawood, KY, Robert (Deb) of Cawood, KY, Randy (Patty) of Cawood, KY, David (Karen) of Belleville, MI, Mark of Wellington, UT; and his two Sisters, Vanessa (Harold) Coots of Evarts, KY and Helen (Richard) Stewart of Cawood, KY. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives in the United States.
Funeral Services were held at Girrbach Funeral Home, in Hastings, Michigan, at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 20, 2013. Burial took place at Woodland Cemetery in Woodland, MI.

GREEN
James Ernest Green, age 93, of Cumberland, KY passed away at the Harlan ARH on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. He was born April 18, 1920 to the late Franklin and Minnie Williams Green in Whitley County, KY. James worked as a coal miner for International Harvester before retiring. He was a member of the Fields Lodge 832 F&AM, a Kentucky Colonel, and believed in the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Rice Green; a step mother, Betts Green; brothers, Samuel Green, Walter Green, Bill Green, and Dwight Green; sisters, Ruby Engle and Lena Collett; and step sister, Lucy Cox.
He is survived by his children, Jim Green and Zita of Richmond, KY, Jean Bennett of Cumberland, KY, and Linda Morris and Henry of Jasper, AL; half-brother, Hank Green of Corbin, KY; half-sisters, Panzie Prewitt and June Engle, both of Corbin, KY; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home in Benham, KY on Thursday, June 20, 2013, from 6 – 9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013, in the Chapel at 11 am with Brother Rod Raleigh officiating. Interment will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery in Keavy, KY. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and great-grandsons as honorary pallbearers.
