Maria Louise Napier Bush, 47, of Closplint, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin following a long illness. Born July 2, 1965 in Brevard, NC, she had lived here most of her life. Maria was a homemaker and believed in the Baptist Faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret J. Riddle Napier and Wilmer Floyd Napier; one grandchild, Aaron Thompson; and one sister, Edna Renae Napier.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Bush; three children, Amanda Bush and special friend, Grandville Thompson; Crystal Plowman and husband, James, all of Closplint; and Jonathan Bush and wife, Kristen, Harlan; four brothers, Anthony and Jim Napier, Evarts; Chris Napier and wife, Michelle, Coxton; and Kelly Napier and wife, Carol, Corbin; one sister, Jane Shannon Napier, Eastbrook;
Also surviving are four grandchildren, John Thompson, Ethan Thompson, Sarah Bush and Riley Bush, all of Closplint; a special second family, mother-in-law, Dorothy Bush; brother, Jimmy Bush; sisters, Wanda Napier; and Ann Ford and husband, Glen; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 7, 2013, from 11 AM until 3 PM in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home.
A service of remembrance will be conducted at 3 PM with family and friends sharing memories of Maria.
Burial will follow in Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

HIGHTOWER
Ethel Mae (Laws) Jones Hightower, 79 of Rosspoint passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 at her home with family by her bedside.
Ethel was born May 30, 1934 at Brookside, KY to the late Robert and Nancy Blakely Laws. She was a homemaker and quilt maker, a devoted mother and faithful Christian woman who believed in the Church of God faith.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by several siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Lucille (Victor) Farmer of Baxter; 2 sons, Dennis R. Jones of Rosspoint and David (Libby) Jones of Baxter; 2 grandchildren, Misti (Jeremy) Buckman of Louisville and Kasey Jones of Baxter; 1 great granddaughter, Brinley of Louisville; 1 sister, Mary Smallwood of Jonesville, VA; she leaves a host of nieces and nephews to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be Wednesday June 5, 2013 from 5 until 8:00 pm at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 pm Thursday in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Keith officiating.
Burial will follow in the Brookside Cemetery.

Doris Lee Hubbs, 88 of Coalgood went home to be with her Lord on Saturday June 1, 2013 at her home following a long illness.
She was born March 25, 1925 at Harlan, KY to the late Mont and Elizabeth Romans. She was a homemaker and 50 year member of Mary Helen United Methodist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Hubbs; sisters, Faye Vanover, May Suchy, and Eudell Romans; her brothers, Fred, and Drewey Romans.
She is survived by 2 loving sons, Larry (Debra) Hubbs of Harlan and Gary (Tammy) Hubbs of Harlan; 4 grandchildren, Margaret (Matt) Stults of Winchester, Joey (Elizabeth) Hubbs of Harlan, Blake and Tyler Hubbs both of Harlan; 2 great grandchildren, Megan Stults of Winchester and Kirsten Hubbs of Hamilton, Alabama; she leaves several nieces, nephews and other relatives to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be Tuesday June 4, 2013 from 5 until 7:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones with Rev. Robert Landis officiating. Music will be provided by Raymond Smith.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Wednesday at the Resthaven Cemetery Chapel. Family and friends are asked to meet at cemetery chapel just prior to service time.

Carrie Juanita Hickson, 92, of Ages, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at her home following a long illness. Born June 18, 1920 in Harlan County, she had lived here most of her life. She was the oldest mother and the oldest member of the Ages Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Hickson, Sr.; four children, twins Glen and Glendon Hickson, Claude “Pete” Hickson and Barbara Smith; her parents, Silas William “Sweet” Ball and Lora Broughton Ball; a sister, Gracie Stephens; and a brother, Silas William Ball, Jr.
Survivors include ten children, Calvin Hickson and wife, Linda Kay, Ferrum, VA; Marvin Hickson, Jr. and wife, Rose, Gasway, WV; Linda Poe and husband, Carl, Harlan; Charles “Buck” Hickson and wife, Debbie, Colorado; Marylynn Jo Owens, Ages; Billy Hickson and wife, Marianne, Covesville, VA; Sandy Vanek and husband, Jerry, Colorado; Carolyn Campbell, Cawood; Jackie Hickson and wife, Rhonda, Cawood; and Donna Skeate and husband, Scott, Fishersville, VA.
Also surviving are two sisters, Marie Adkins, Rockholds, KY; Hazel Kimbley, Livingston, TX; a step-sister, Linda Muncy and husband, Scott, Indiana; two brothers, Earl Ball and wife, Lola; and Burley Ball, all of Coburn, VA; a step-brother, Billy Ball, Harlan; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren and several great-great-great-great-grandchildren; her 15 year old poodle, Abby; and a host of other family and friends including her church family that she loved dearly.
Visitation will be held after 1 pm Thursday and anytime Friday at the Ages Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 1, 2013, at 1 pm at the Church with the Reverend Jesse Kinder and the Reverend Jerry Collins officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with her family and friends serving as pallbearers.

LAY
Ernestine Lay, 58, of Loyall, KY went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 26, 2013 Harlan ARH following a long illness. She was born August 20, 1954 at Danville, KY to the late Ernest and Martha Daughtery Lay . She was a member of the Church of God of the Union Assembly. She worked as a clerk for Loyall City Hall and worked at Mike’s Drive In.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by Ken Lay who raised her after the death of her parents and her brother, Dennis Lay.
Ernestine is survived by loving daughter, Cecile Farley and husband, Justin of Elcomb and one grand daughter that was the joy of her life, Emily Marie Farley. Her second mother, Barbara Lay who raised her after the death of her parents. Also surviving sister: Linda Lay of Stanford, KY; Karen (Freddie) Baker of Cameron, NC; and brother:s Eddie (Pat) Lay of Verda, KY; Johnny (Delana) Lay of Danville; David Lay of Maryland; Lee (Linda) Lay of Harrisburg, KY; Ray Lay of Loyall, KY; special nephew, Dalton Lay; also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and church family.
Services will be Thursday May 30, 2013 at Anderson Laws & Jones Funeral Home: Visitation will be 5 PM - 7 PM and service at 7 PM following visitation in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home. with Rev. Allen Massengill and special music by Sonny Jones and Carma Carmical.

Johnny Rance Ford Turner, age 72, of Baxter, KY passed away May 26, 2013 at his residence. He was born November 23, 1940 at Kitts, KY to the late Ted R. and Nancy Shields Turner. He was a master electrician and owned Turner Electric. He believed in the Christian faith.
He is survived by his children Kimberly R. Turner McIlquham of Baxter, KY, John KEVIN Turner and wife, Deanna, of South Carolina, grandchild, Cameron Lane McIlquham of Coldiron, KY, Teddie Wattenberger and husband, Charles, of Loyall, KY, Maisie Napier and husband, Delmar, of Hamilton, OH, the mother of his children, Sondra Davis of Lancaster, KY, nephew, Charles Wattenberger, Jr. and niece, Teresa Stewart, great nephews, Cori and Dustin Wattenberger, his lifelong friends: the Hardee’s Gang, special friends, Joyce and Fidel Morales, and a host of other family and friends.

Beverly Ann Moore, age 57 of 257 West Main Street in Lynch, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the Harlan ARH. She was born on June 23, 1955, to the union of the late Hence Halcomb & Martha Baker Halcomb in Lynch, KY. She is survived by her mother Martha Halcomb of Lynch, KY, husband, Richard Moore of Lynch, KY, two brothers, Carmen Hence Halcomb of Crossville, Tennessee & Dallas Texas Halcomb of Cumberland, KY, four sisters, Regina Halcomb & Debra Lynn Short both of Lynch, KY, Leshia Tammy Estridge of Crossville, Tennessee and Jennifer Partin of Cumberland, KY.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 19th, 2013, at Johnson Funeral Home from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
