Ryan Scott Hubbard, age 17, of Ekron, KY passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2006 in Ekron, KY.
He was born on Thursday, February 16, 1989, in Louisville, KY.
He was a senior at Meade County High School who loved to hunt, fish, and ride horses. He was employed at Tony Brown Chevrolet in Brandenburg.
He is survived by his father, Jeffrey Hubbard; mother, Lisa Hardin; step-father, Tom Hardin; step-mother, Lisa Hubbard; brother, Brandon Hubbard; step-sister, Leslie Carman; grandparents, Betty and Gary Hubbard and August and Dian Marsteller; step-grandparents, Bob and Sue Hardin, and Hilda Taul; niece, Gabrielle Carman; and several cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Service was held at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006. Burial followed at Garnettsville Cemetery in Brandenburg, KY.
Columbus A. Cox
1927-2007
MOREHEAD - Columbus A. Cox, age 79, of Elliott County, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky, after an extended illness. He was born December 19, 1927, at Gimlet in Elliott County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Willie and Mollie Gray Cox. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilburn Cox, Worth Cox, Wendell Cox, and Willie Ferrell Cox, and two sisters, Mildred Cox Rose and Christine Cox Daulton.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eliene Carter Cox, and three sisters, Evelyn Coleman of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ramona Nickels of Morehead, Kentucky, and Lavona Cox of Elliott County, Kentucky.
Columbus served as a member of the United States Army for 1950-56 and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, and United Nation’s Service Medal. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States of America August 29, 1956.
Columbus was a retired farmer and a born again Christian.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Elijah Wagoner and the Rev. Austin Carter officiating; burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery in Elliott County with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Johnny Ray Holbrook, Jimmy Cox, James Ray Cox, Vernon Cox, Larry Cox, Gary Cox, Elijah Randolph, and Christopher Cox. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Beatrice Lewis
1911-2007
MOREHEAD - Beatrice McGlone Lewis, age 95, of Big Brushy Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Born December 2, 1911, at McGlone Creek in Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Harvey and Leah Wolford McGlone. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Lewis on July 22, 1988.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by one son, James Sherman Lewis and wife Linda of Loveland, Ohio; three daughters, Violet Hardin and husband Wilbur of Morehead, Wilma Lutz and husband Joe of Largo, Florida, and DeEtta Folse of Bellaire, Texas; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great- grandchildren.
She was a retired postmaster of Smile, Kentucky, located on Big Brushy. She operated the post office from a building just a few steps from her home for nearly 30 years.
Mrs. Lewis later served as vice- president of Rowan County Farm Bureau, and was the first female to serve in that capacity.
She was also a member of McGlone Creek Christian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Brian Farmer officiating; burial will follow in the McGlone Cemetery in Carter County
Pallbearers will be Bob Lewis, Jack Lewis, Nick Schatz, John Schatz, David Schatz, and Dr. Ralph Derrickson.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Claire Cardiac Rehabilitation program.
Rickey Lee Thacker
Age: 52
Visitation: Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Meta Baptist Church with evening services Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Funeral Service: Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Meta Baptist Church with Bill Staggs officiating.
Interment: Burial will follow in the Bent Ridge Cemetery at Meta.
Rickey Lee Thacker, age 52, of Raccoon, passed away, Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the Pikeville Medical Center.
He was a purchasing agent for Arch Coal Company. He was a member of the Meta Baptist Church.
He was born in Pike County, Kentucky on January 5, 1959 the son of Barbara Lou Bevins Thacker of Scott Fork and the late Arnold Thacker, Sr.
Along with his mother, he is survived by his wife, Ambre Epperley Thacker and three brothers, Roger Thacker of Jackson, Ky., Arnold Thacker, Jr. of Pikeville, Ky. and Timmy Thacker of Lexington, Ky. and two sisters, Carolyn Stotridge of of Pikeville, Ky. and Sandra Mitchell of Pikeville, Ky.
He is also survived by a host of Nieces and Nephews.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Truman Thompson, Jr., Roger Blackburn, Randall Taylor, Tommy Thompson, Jody Thompson, Phillip Murphy, Mike Helvey, Steve Brashear, Tom Kline and Mitch Casson.

Dixie Gene May Moore
1928-2007
MOREHEAD - Dixie Gene May Moore, age 78, of Crestview Lane, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born October 11, 1928, in Winchester, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late William Benson and Beulah Collinsworth May. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Dunn. Her husband of 51 years, William Jay Moore, passed away October 31, 1999.
She is survived by two sons, Jay B. (Julia) Moore of Russell and Charles Lee Moore of Morehead; two grandsons, Jonathan Jay (KaraBeth) Moore and Jeffrey Irwin Moore; and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Lee Moore, all of Lexington; one brother, William Thomas (Anna) May of Lawrenceburg; niece Patty (Dave) Raisor of Lexington; nephew Steve (Janie) Dunn of Atlanta, Georgia and nephew Bill (Pam) May of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Mrs. Moore was an educator, world traveler, trend setter, and accomplished bridge player.
She was a math and science teacher at Fort Gay (WV) High School from 1955-1963 and came to Morehead State University in 1963. She retired in 1989 as assistant professor of mathematics at Morehead State University, where she founded and served as advisor to Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity and also advised CWENS, an honor society.
Dixie, who started her education in a one-room school, graduated from Louisa High School and attended Kentucky Wesleyan. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Kentucky at age 19, where she played bells in the UK marching band. She earned the Master of Science Degree from Marshall University and did post masters work in universities across the nation. Dixie started several ladies investment clubs in the area and served as treasurer for award-winning Career Women Investors since its inception. She was co-founder and co-owner of Ridgeland True Value Hardware and Global Travel Agency, both in Morehead. She was a member of Morehead United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to a charity of your choice.
Rosetta Dotson

Rosetta Dotson, age 46, of Pikeville, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011 at her home.
She worked as security for Dags Branch Coal Company.
She was born in Pike County, Kentucky on October 29, 1964 the daughter of Kellis McCoy, Jr. of Powell's Creek and the late Audrey Butler McCoy.
Along with her father, she is survived by her husband, Bobby Dotson and one daughter, Amanda Dotson of Pikeville.
She is also survived by two brothers, Thomas McCoy and Kellis McCoy, Jr. both of Powell's Creek and also one grandchild, Emmalee Allen.
Sanford Dewitt Boyd
1927–2007
MOREHEAD – Sanford Dewitt Boyd, 79, of Stockton Road - Wallingford, Kentucky passed away Friday, January 5, 2007 in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington after an extended illness.
He was born on November 9, 1927 in Rowan County, Kentucky to the late J. W. and Sarah Debord Boyd.
Mr. Boyd was a retired Lt. Colonel from the United States Army having served for 22 ½ years. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Boyd was a Christian, an avid fisherman, enjoyed yard work and loved his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Boyd and Raymond Boyd and one sister, Edna Tabor.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Colby Boyd, whom he married
on November 14, 1989, of Wallingford, two sons, Sanford D. Boyd II of Arlington, Washington and James William Boyd II of Aurora, Colorado, four daughters, Sandra Walrab of Russells Point, Ohio, Jeni Rader of Pineville, Missouri, Suzanne Boyd of Leavenworth, Kansas and Charla Ronnberg of Raymore, Missouri, one brother, Roy Boyd of Clearfield, two sisters, Beulah Ball and Virgie Lewis both of Morehead, sixteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the Sunrise Sunset Cemetery off Old House Creek with Brother Randy Smith officiating. Military rites will be presented by the Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. There is no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans or a favorite charity.
