Milton “Ray” Plank
1939-2010
MOREHEAD – Milton “Ray” Plank, age 70, of Winchester, Indiana, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at St. Vincent Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He was born September 29, 1939, in Rowan County, Kentucky, son of the late Elmer Thomas Plank and Cora Mae Esham Plank. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy Plank and Homer Plank, and one stepdaughter, Sharon Estep.
Ray is survived by one son, Terry Ray Plank of Beaufort, South Carolina; two daughters, Pam Yates of Okeechobee, Florida, and Dora Mae Caruso of Parma, Ohio; one sister, Dixie Blythe of Morehead, Kentucky; two brothers, Warren Plank of Morehead, Kentucky, and J. D. Plank of Kirklin, Indiana; three grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Butch Kelsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Adams-Plank Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Aubrey Little, Paul Cooper, Clay Clark, Harry Clark, Billy Plank, and Robbie Dorsey.
Visitation was after 5 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Nellie Mae Conley Fraley
1921-2007
MOREHEAD - Nellie Mae Conley Fraley, age 85, of Mabry Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 1, 2007, at her residence. Born May 27, 1921, in Elliott County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Sarah E. Fannin Conley. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Zenith Fraley; second husband, Ora Conley; three brothers, Homer Conley, Robert Conley and Milzia Conley; and three sisters, Victoria Hall, Susan Kegley, and Nora Hall.
She is survived by three children: Rochella F. Rivers of San Antonio, Texas; Donald Fraley of West Milton, Ohio; and Darlene Adkins and husband Larry of Morehead, Kentucky; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
Nellie was a former nurse assistant at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead and retired from Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She was a member of Grandview Calvary Tabernacle in Dayton.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, January 4, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Evangelist Joe Fraley officiating; burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were be Chris Adkins, Michael Fraley, Kennion Rivers, Timothy Rivers, Orbie Rivers, and Heath Loper.
Anthony Ray Jervis
1985 - 2006
Anthony Ray Jervis, age 21, of Conn Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 29, 2006, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Born September 23, 1985, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he is the son of Claude Shannon Jervis of Salt Lick, Kentucky, and Kathy Lynn Conn Holbrook and her husband Randy Holbrook of Morehead, Ky.
He is also survived by two brothers, Joseph Holbrook and Joey Wright; one sister, Ashley Holbrook; and maternal grandparents, Curtis Ray and Linda Mae Reynolds Conn, all of Morehead, Kentucky, and a special friend, Barrett Channing Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Claude and Ivory Adkins Jervis.
A 2003 graduate of Rowan County Senior High School, Anthony was employed by Longwood Telecommunications in Pennsylvania.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Dallas Barker and Elder Ira Smith officiating; burial followed in Epperhart Cemetery. Pallbearers were Toni Martin, Jamie Trent, Ritchie Winkleman, Eric Winkleman, Chucky McClure, Josh Wheeler, Kevin Kidd, and Jeremy Holbrook.
Betty Lillian Karrick
1947-2006
MOREHEAD - Betty Lillian Karrick, 59, of Morehead Road in Fleming County, Kentucky was born on January 5, 1947 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. She went to sleep in the keeping of the Lord on Thursday, December 28, 2006 at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky after an extended illness.
She was the daughter of Edith M. Wilson Black and the late Sherman Conn.
She was preceded in sleep by her dad and one infant son, Daniel Karrick.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-four years, Robert Brooks Karrick of Fleming County, her son, Nathan David Karrick and his wife Stephanie Mae Karrick of Fleming County and one granddaughter, Brooke Nicole Karrick.
Betty worked at Morehead State University as an Americorp Coordinator. She graduated from Rowan County High School and Morehead State University with a BA degree having a 4.0 grade point average. She taught school at the Freewill Baptist Mission on the island of St. Croix in the Caribbean. Betty had attended the Morehead First Freewill Baptist Church for over forty years and had played the piano for the last thirty years. She was clerk of the Bluegrass Conference for fifteen years, a member of the Believers for the last three years and she helped to start works for the Lord in many places in and around Kentucky and one in Arizona. Betty was the founder of the mission work in Fleming County, Christians Across America - Extended Hands Ministries. She was also a foster mother, parent and a mom to any that came her way. Betty was also a leader; a person that would get the job done and
get it right. She would help any that was around or that came to her.
Others who survive her are her mother, Edith M. Wilson Black of Morehead; two sisters, Margaret Ashcraft of Morehead and Peggy Nawlin of Houston,
Texas; three brothers, Jack Black of Steubenville, Ohio, Sonny Conn of Morehead and Tony Conn of Independence, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 31, 2006 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Brother Steve Dailey and Brother Nathan Began officiating. Burial was in the Jones Cemetery at Midland.
Mrs. Karrick was carried to her grave by Believers.

Omar E. Gibbs
1923-2006
HILLSBORO - Omar E. Gibbs, age 83, of Maxey Flat Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at his residence. Born October 13, 1923, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Russell Green Gibbs, Sr., and Margaret Ann King Gibbs. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Russell (Doc) Green Gibbs, Jr., and two sisters, Ruth Saunders and Ethel Harris.
Survivors include two brothers, Shirley Gibbs of Winchester, Kentucky, and Jerry Gibbs of Lexington, Kentucky; one sister, Alice Harris of Hillsboro, Kentucky; and two special nephews, Raymond Harris and Albert Gibbs.
Mr. Gibbs was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was the recipient of four Bronze Stars. He graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and was a former engineer and mathematician. He was also a retired television repairman.
Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Saturday, December 23, 2006, at the Hutton Funeral Home with Elder Lonnie Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in the Prince Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Flemingsburg Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834 and American Legion Post No. 5. Pallbearers will be Elbert Cox, Don Cox, George Rosenburg, Bud Cox, David Cox, Keed Cox, and Larry Gregory. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2006, at the Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Mable Marie Murphy Riddle
1911-2006
MOREHEAD - Mable Marie Murphy Riddle, age 95, of Bath Avenue, Ashland, formerly of Morehead, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at Boyd Nursing and Rehab Center in Ashland. Born May 29, 1911, in Middletown, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Volney and Pearl Pat Cannoy Murphy. Also preceding her in death were one sister, Reva Greene, and one brother, Gerald Murphy. Her husband, Austin Niles Riddle, whom she wed May 12, 1934, passed away July 21, 1977.
Mrs. Riddle is survived by two sons, Austin “Jerry” Riddle and wife Barbara of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Larry Riddle and wife Phyllis of Ashland; four grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
For a number of years, Mable and Austin were co-owners and operators of the The Eagles Nest Restaurant in Morehead. She was also an avid bridge player, a member of the Homemakers Club, and a member of Morehead United Methodist Church.
Graveside services were conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006, at Pine Hill Cemetery with Dr. Jack Ellis officiating. Arrangements were by Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

June Sturgill Newsome, age 90, of Harold, Kentucky passed away Friday, August 10, 2007 at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Kentucky.
June Sturgill Newsome was a retired Bookkeeper for the Harold Telephone Company.
June was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
June Sturgill Newsome was born in Pike County, Kentucky on June 21, 1917, the daughter of the late Mell Sturgill and Myrtle Smallwood Sturgill.
Along with her parents June was preceded in death by her husband Kermit Kenneth Newsome on April 12, 1983, and by one son Sanford "Sandy" Dean Newsome.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
June Sturgill Newsome is survived by three sons Kenneth Eugene Newsome his wife Polly of Hudson, NC, Larry Don Newsome his wife Ann of Princeton, NJ and Timothy Neal Newsome his wife Roma of Harold, Kentucky.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren
June Sturgill Newsome will be sadly missed by her family, loved ones and many friends.
