Flossie Brown
1915 - 2006

CENTERVILLE, OHIO - Flossie Curtis Brown, 91, of Centerville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, July 4, at her home following a brief illness.

Born June 29, 1915 in Cynthiana, she was retired from Elder Beerman after 16 years of service and was a member of the Cynthiana Christian Church.

Mrs. Brown is survived by one son, Siah and wife, Terrie Brown of Farmers; one daughter-in-law, Sue Brown of Farmers and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, among them are Sheryl Brown and Denver Brown III and Jake, Clay and Matthew, and a host of friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Brown Sr., one son, Denver Brown Jr., her mother, Annie Hutchinson and step- father Clarence Hutchinson, one sister, Elsie Jones and two brothers, Theodore "Bud" Curtis and William T. "Babe" Curtis.

Graveside services were held Saturday, July 8, at Battlegrove Cemetery at East Pike Street in Cynthiana.

Debra Gail Morgan Caudill

Debra Gail Morgan Caudill, age 46, of Poplar Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2006, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born January 22, 1960, in Spring Valley, Illinois, she is the daughter of Minnie Faye Halcomb Hayes of Jacksonville, Florida, and the late Chuck Morgan of El Paso, Texas. She was preceded in death by her biological father, Jerome Perrero, and her baby sister, Sheila Perrero, of Spring Valley, Illinois.

In addition to her mother and stepfather, Howard Hayes of Jacksonville, Florida, she is survived by her husband, David W. Caudill, of Morehead; three daughters, Kelly Wills of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Cassie Spencer of Ringos Mill, Kentucky, and Rebecca Fannin of Morehead; one son, Edward D. Caudill of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; three sisters, Terri L. Kolstad and Kimberly S. Morgan, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Paula Morgan of Rantoul, Illinois, and two brothers, Mike Morgan of Cayuga, Indiana, and Chuckie Morgan of El Paso, Texas; seven granddaughters; five grandsons; several nieces and nephews; and six special friends.

Debbie was an employee of Community Alternatives and a proud member of Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr., officiating; burial will follow in the Eldridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Morgan, Kevin Spencer, Bobby LaBrec, Eddie Caudill, Eddie Ramey, Philip Beacraft, and Sterl Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of the church. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church. Arrangements by Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Donetta Evans
1948 - 2006

Donetta Jane Perry Evans, 57, of Olive Hill, KY, passed peacefully from this life, Thursday evening, July 6, 2006 at the Kingsbrook Life Care Center in Ashland, KY.

Mrs. Evans was born in Kenova, Wv on December 27, 1948, the daughter of Jeanetta Preece Church and step-father Harold Church of Ashland, the late Donald Perry and the late Neely Preece.

She is survived by her husband, John A. Evans of Olive Hill, KY.

A funeral ceremony in memory of Donetta Evans will be held 2:00pm Sunday, July 9, 2006 at the Twin Fork Nazarene Church in Catlettsburg. Rev. She will be laid to rest at the Bayless family cemetery following the service. Visitation for family and friends is Saturday July 8, 2006 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg, Ky.

Benjamin K. Hays
1926 – 2006

MOREHEAD – Benjamin K. Hays, 80, of Rodburn Hollow Road passed away Saturday, July 8, 2006 at his home after an apparent heart attack.

He was born on February 28, 1926 in Morgan County, Kentucky to the late Edward and Atlas Crisp Hays.

Mr. Hays was a retired engineer for the state highway department. He was a United States Navy Veteran having served during World War II. Mr. Hays was a graduate of the University of Kentucky. He was a member of the Morehead First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, the Morehead Lions Club, having been past president and past zone chairman, the Morehead Masonic Lodge Number 654, the V.F.W. and the American Legion and he enjoyed playing bridge and chess and trap shooting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, George Edward Hays who passed away on July 22, 1994 and four brothers, Millard Hays, Raymond Hays, Lawrence Hays and Berry Hays.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Guthrie Horton Hays of Morehead, four sons, Paul G. Hays of Independence, Missouri, Mark A. Hays of Mason, Ohio, James H. Hays of Fairchild, Washington and John Q. Hays of Morehead, one sister, Lida Dean of Sheffield, Illinois, ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 11, 2006 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Don Mantooth officiating. Burial will follow in the Elliott County Memory Gardens in Sandy Hook. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Pallbearers will be Mark Hays, John Hays, Paul Hays, James Hays, Jacob Hays and Jonathan Hays and honorary pallbearers will be Nicky Horton, Scott Horton, Edward Hays and Jeffrey Hays.

Cornelia Hudkins

Cornelia Madeline (Connie) Young Hudkins, age 90, of Lakeland, Florida, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2006 in Lakeland.

Born December 20, 1915, in Richwood, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Birdie Feury Young. Her husband, Harry H. Hudkins, preceded her in death in 1973.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Jerry Price; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren, all residing in Lakeland, Florida.

When Connie moved to Morehead in 1960, she was employed by McBrayers Department Store. Later, she co-owned Model Home Improvements with her husband and served as secretary. Following the death of her husband, Connie moved to Pennsylvania in 1974 to reside with her daughter and son-in-law. Since 1983, they have resided in Lakeland, Florida.

Graveside services and interment will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. Jack Ellis officiating. Visitation is after 7 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Norman Roberts

Norman Lee Roberts, age 58, of KY Highway 801 North, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Mary Chiles Hospital in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. He was born January 22, 1948, in Lexington, Kentucky, and is the son of Margie Lee Stewart Roberts of Morehead, Kentucky, and Dr. Norman Norris Roberts, who preceded in him death on October 18, 2000. Also one daughter, Amanda Gaye Roberts, preceded him in death on May 7, 2004.

In addition to his mother, Norman is survived by one daughter, Angela Dawn Roberts; two sons, Adam Lee Roberts and Aaron Stewart Roberts; the mother of his children, Teresa Duff Roberts; three brothers, John Stewart Roberts, Paul Garred Roberts, and Willie Roberts; and four grandchildren, all of Morehead, Kentucky.

Norman was a 1966 graduate of University Breckinridge School and earned his B. S. Degree in Mathematics from Morehead State University in 1972. He was a former owner and operator of EconoMart Foods in Louisville, Kentucky, and had managed several restaurants.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. and Dr. Jack Ellis officiating; burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jim Tom Caudill, Wendell Bush, Mike Alderman, Billy Stewart, Wendell White, Stewart Hall, and Richard White. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Claude Kindreth Harris
1942-2006

MOREHEAD - Claude Kindreth Harris, age 63, of Vance Road, Salt Lick, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2006, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. He was born December 30, 1942, in Elliott County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Claude and Barbara Leadingham Harris. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Harris, and one sister, Kolene Porter.

He is survived by his wife, Alberta Fay McDaniel Harris; two sons, Kenneth Olen Harris and Glendon Lee Harris, both of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter, Debra Fay Harris of Salt Lick, Kentucky; four brothers, Estill Harris and Delmas Harris both of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Louie Harris of Salt Lick, Kentucky, and Darrell Harris of Owingsville, Kentucky; five sisters, Audrey Porter, Gail Lemaster, and Wanda Barker, all of Olive Hill, Kentucky; Glenna Caudill of Owingsville, Kentucky, and Linda Cebula of Salt Lick, Kentucky.

Also surviving is one granddaughter, Patricia Lynn Harris.

Mr. Harris was a retired employee of A. O. Smith and a member of the Church of God.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Thomas James and Rev. Elijah Wagoner officiating; burial will follow in the Harris Cemetery in Elliott County. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Louise Hilliard Johnson
1928-2006

MOREHEAD - Emma Louise Hilliard Johnson, age 77, of Whitaker Street, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, July 3, 2006, at Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, after an extended illness. She was born November 27, 1928, in Danville, Kentucky, to the late Luther Moss and Emma Houston Samuel Hilliard.

She attended nurses training at St. Joseph Hospital, where she met her husband Clint while his mother was a patient. She worked at St. Claire Medical Center from 1964 to 1991, when she retired.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Clinton William Johnson, whom she wed December 18, 1948, in Lexington and their four sons-Lynn (Jada) Johnson, Kenny Johnson, and Louis Johnson, all of Morehead and Erick Johnson of Fishers, Indiana; five grandchildren-Tiffany (Scott) Blair, Annie (Jonathan) Hart, Brian Johnson, Erika Johnson, and Laken Johnson; two great-grandchildren-Avery and Sydney Blair, and soon-to-be-born Great-Grandson Hart. Additional survivors include one brother, Luther Hilliard, and one sister, Frances Brewer, of Lexington, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Darrell Johnson officiating; burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are her four sons and Brian Johnson, Laken Johnson, Scott Blair, and Jonathan Hart. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Mike Alderman, Jeff Callahan, John Reed, Cary Lyle, Ronnie Swartz, Dwayne Allen, and Johnny Holbrook. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to one's favorite charity.

Larry Warren Lovely
1943-2006

MOREHEAD - Larry Warren Lovely, age 62, of Dry Branch Road, Morehead, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 2, 2006, at his residence. Born September 27, 1943, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Charles Keyser and Grace Mae Brown Lovely.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Carolyn Stamm Lovely; two sons, Larry Allen Lovely and Michael Warren Lovely, both of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter, Karen Yvonne Czajka and husband Christopher of Culleoka, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Ashley Marie Czajka, Christopher Chasyn Czajka, Caden Riley Czajka of Culleoka, Tennessee, Brandon Keiser Lovely, Kayla Nicole Lovely and Matthew Allen Lovely of Holt Michigan; one brother, Jim Yoder and wife Kay of Lexington, Kentucky; four sisters, Marcella Logan and husband Arnold of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Jackie Webel and husband Fred of Mansfield, Ohio, Bonnie Hall and husband Bob of Morehead, Kentucky, Debbie Miranda and husband Stephen of Starksville, Mississippi; three stepbrothers, Ken Yoder of Zoar, Ohio, Fred Yoder of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Ron Yoder of Sunbury, Ohio; one stepsister, Sue Yoder Potts of Sunbury, Ohio; and special sister-in-law, Jo Ann Stamm Lovely.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Darrel Lovely, on May 10, 2006, and one grandchild, Chasyn Christopher Czajka.

He was retired from Ford Motor Company, Wayne Michigan, and was a member of Rock Fork Christian Church. His hobbies were small engine repair, restoring automobiles, and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Butch Kelsey and the Rev. Cecil Ison officiating; burial will follow in Clark Cemetery on Cranston Road. Billy Plank, Dallas Fraley, Ralph Farmer, Tony Plank Woody Clark, and Johnny Lovely will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
