Velda Conley Adkins
1917 – 2007
MOREHEAD – Velda Conley Adkins, 89, passed away Friday, March 30, 2007 at the residence of her daughter in Clearfield, Kentucky.
She was born on September 14, 1917 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Wiley Jefferson Conley and Amanda Alice Williams Conley.
Mrs. Adkins was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of United Baptist at Hayes Branch for over 50 years. She was baptized in April 1956. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning and was known as a good cook.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Casie Adkins who passed away on February 27, 1996, one son, Ray Adkins who passed away in 1991, an infant daughter, Betty Norene Adkins, three brothers, William David Conley, Russell Warner Conley and Clyde Conley, three sisters, Pearl Conley Hall, Mary Sparks and Betty White.
Survivors include one son, Zora Adkins of Morehead, one daughter, Barbara Young of Clearfield, one brother Sylvester Conley of Tennessee, seven grandchildren, Lowell Duane Adkins, Joel Ray Rochét, Beverly Jo Reber, Marsha Joan Conn, Jeffrey Scott Adkins, Joyce Janiene Stevens and Jamie Lynn Adkins and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 2, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Elder Owen Cox, Elder Lewis Baire, Elder Oathar Messer and Brother Clayton Marshall officiating. Burial was in the Conley Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Barbara Young, Steve Young, Joel Rochét, Jeff Adkins, Beverly Reber, Duane Adkins, Kevin Reber and Joan Conn.
Chester Harlan Day
OHIO - Chester Harlan Day, age 88, of Reynoldsburg, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, March 20, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Soldier, Ky., and was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran. Retired Iron Workers Union Local #172 for more than 35 years. Member of Brookside Baptist Church where he proudly served as Deacon and Trustee in past years. Preceded in death by his parents, Harlis and Ira Day, infant daughter, Donna Sue Day, granddaughter, Angela Denise Baxter, and sister, Florine Whitt. Survived by loving wife of 65years, Lydia; children, Patricia (Richard) Carroll, Judy (Michael) Baxter, and William and Steven Day; grandchildren, Cheryl (Jeff) Evans, Donna (Brett) Garrett, Michelle (Jody) Capuano, Trisha (Andy) Click, Tracy, Stephanie, and Cassie Day; great grandchildren, Justin Hoyt, Adam Ganas, Marina and Mikayla Capuano, Angela and Andrew Click, and Lexie and Alex Day; brother, Gartrell Day; and sisters, Madeline Triplett and Velma Landers. Chester will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all he touched. He was a loyal caregiver to Lydia for more than 10 years and showed deep concern for her until the end of his life. Valetta Kay Collins
1959 – 2007
MOREHEAD – Valetta Kay Collins, 48, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007 at her home in Clearfield, Kentucky after an illness of several weeks.
She was born on February 14, 1959 in Morehead, Kentucky, a daughter of Harold and Maxine Black Collins.
Valetta was a 1977 graduate of Rowan County High School. She earned her bachelors degree in biology from Morehead State University in 1981 and a bachelors in medical technology from St. Joseph Hospital School of Medical Technology in 1982. She began her career as a clinical lab scientist at St. Claire Medical Center in 1982. She worked as a generalist in the lab 5 years, was the Microbiology Section Manager for 6 years, and was the Primary Care Laboratory Director for 6 years. In 1999, she accepted a position as a laboratory inspector for the Commonwealth of Kentucky Office of the Inspector General where she inspected medical labs throughout the state for compliance with federal and state regulations. She was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Valetta accepted Christ as her personal savior in May 1996. She was a member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God where she served as Sunday School secretary, church treasurer, Sunday School teacher, bus driver, back up sound system operator, served on the pulpit committee, and was a member of the Board of Trustees. She enjoyed boating, camping and travel. Valetta found joy in her many friends. She was an avid bird watcher and traveled throughout the United States for an opportunity to see new species.
In addition to her parents, Harold and Maxine Black Collins of Clearfield, other survivors include one sister, Linda Gagnon and her husband, Henri of Westland, Michigan, a niece, Deanna Jorgensen and her husband, John of Williamsburg, Michigan, a nephew, Jason Gagnon of Garden City, Michigan, one great-niece, one great-nephew, one uncle, Ray Collins of Clearfield and many loving cousins, friends and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:45 A.M. Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God with Rev. Gary McQuain and Rev. Max Molihan officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home will be after 2:30 P.M. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Cecil Trent, Jim Moore, J. C. Jolley, Dr. Stephen Mitchell, Dr. Ted Pass, Bill Short, Henri Gagnon and Jason Gagnon and honorary pallbearers will be Members of the Clearfield Tabernacle Board of Trustees and The Adult Go Sunday School Class.

Joyce Cay McCown
Age: 68
Visitation: The visitation wil be at the funeral home, after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday.
Funeral Service: The funeral service will be at the funeral home at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 2, 2015.
Interment: Burial wil be held privately.
Joyce Cay McCown, age 70, was born November 24, 1946, in Pikeville, Kentucky, she passed away August 30, 2015, in Pikeville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late John and Lillian Sword Smith.
Joyce was a retired administrative assistant and legal secretary.
Her survivors include; two brothers, Larry Smith of Kimper, Kentucky, and Steve (Karen) Smith of Kimper, Kentucky. And one sister Leslie (Keith0 Hall of Pikeville, Kentucky.
Visitation for Joyce will be at the funeral home, after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, with the funeral service being held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday September 2, 2015. There will be evening services Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Thomas Lee Muse
FLEMINGSBURG - Thomas Lee Muse, 79, of Ewing, passed away Saturday at Fleming Hospital. Several daughters, one sister, one brother and son, Jerry Muse of Morehead, survive Mr. Muse. . Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Dewayne Sowell officiating.
Beulah Parker Stanley
1920 – 2007
MOREHEAD – Beulah Parker Stanley, 87, passed away Friday, March 16, 2007 in Tampa, Florida.
She was born on February 18, 1920 in Morehead, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Dan and Alta Hayes Parker.
Mrs. Stanley was a retired teacher from the Naples, Florida school system. She had made her home in Tampa since 1976. Mrs. Stanley and her late husband, Glendon Stanley, were both graduates of Morehead State Teachers College, now Morehead State University.
Survivors include several cousins, other relatives and friends.
Graveside memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 25, 2007 at the Brown Cemetery.

Eula Faye Estep
1928-2007
MOREHEAD - Eula Faye Estep, age 78, of Cranston Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at the Life Care Center in Morehead.
Born August 20, 1928, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of Lake Estep, who passed away March 17, 1989, and Letha Thompson Estep, who passed away June 23, 1946. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Ernest, Ivan, Elmo, James, Odell, and Burnest Estep, and three sisters, Janice Estep, Sue Estep, and Grace Planck.
Survivors include two brothers, Ray Estep of Bedford, Indiana, and Ronald Gilbert Estep of Morehead, Kentucky; two sisters, Alta Gulley of Morehead, Kentucky, and Carol Jean Estep of Bedford, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Ison and Rev. Lloyd Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Estep Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jackie Gulley, Gary Gulley, Joe Estep, Waylon Brown, Devin Estep, Carl Estep, and William Estep.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Willie Jethro Harris
1929-2007
MOREHEAD - Willie Jethro Harris, age 77, of Heritage Place, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born September 15, 1929, in Floyd County, Kentucky, and moved to Morehead in 1972. Jethro had been an employee of several businesses including Pecco’s Goody Barn and Viking Mart. He was also a farmer.
Visitation was Wednesday, August 1, 2007, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel. A funeral was conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday with Forest Tackett officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were J. D. Barnett, Tyler Barnett, Tom Pecco, Nick Pecco, Nicholas Pecco, and Wes Prather.
