SADIE JOHNSON (WALLACE), 90 of Northridge, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2007. Mrs. Johnson was born in Clearfield, Ky. February 14, 1917 and was preceded in death by her parents, the late Henry Cleveland Wallace and Elizabeth Jane Wallace, husband Audie, & daughter, Doris Odell.
Survived by daughters & son-in-law Barbara and David Ward and Carol Pontillo, son Phil Johnson, 6 grandchildren, 1 great -granddaughter of Dayton, Ohio. Sister, Betha Muche of Niles, Ohio, Brothers James, Clinton and Norman Wallace of Morehead, Ky.

Quinton K. Jones
1942 – 2007
MOREHEAD – Quinton K. Jones, 65, of Paris, Kentucky formerly of Rowan County, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at the residence of his daughter in Charleston, West Virginia.
He was born on January 21, 1942 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Walter and Rosa McDaniel Jones.
Mr. Jones was a retired welder. He enjoyed fishing, blue grass music and playing the banjo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, John Paul and an infant sister, Hildreth.
Survivors include one son, James Jones and his wife, Shonnie of Lexington, one daughter, Lisa Jones Dickson and her husband, Fred of Charleston, West Virginia, three sisters, Thelma Jones of Cynthiana, Clara Moore of Willard, Ohio and Merrill Lowe of Morehead, three grandchildren, Samuel, Patience and Maggie and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 14, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Pennington officiating.
Pallbearers were Fred Dickson, Brent Gilliam, Michael Gilliam, Floyd Lowe and David Leitz.

Russell Howard Bowles
1926-2006
OHIO - Russell Howard Bowles, 80, of Carlisle, OH, passed away Saturday November 11, 2006 at Hospice of Dayton. Russell was born in Morehead, Kentucky on February 27, 1926 to the late Jeddie Howard and Zona (Miller) Bowles-Mynhier. He was a W.W. II Army Veteran serving as a Sergeant and Squad Leader in the 76th Division ~ 417th Regiment/Company K in the European Theatre. He retired from A-K Steel in 1985 after 30 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles and Harley Bowles; his sister, Margaret Bowles; and his sister-in-law, Martha Ann Layne. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty (Ward) Bowles; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Russell Ward (Debbie) Bowles and Dennis Wayne (Melissa) Bowles all of Carlisle, OH, Danny Forrest (Amanda) Bowles of Dayton, OH, and Roger Clay (Connie) Bowles of Madison Township, OH; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda Joyce Thompson of Carlisle, OH, and Donna Jane (Randy) Riddell of Miamisburg, OH; 12 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren; 2 brothers, John (Bonnie) Mynhier of Frankfort, KY and Paul (Patricia) Mynhier of Morehead, KY; and his brother-in-law, Don Ward. Hazel Grace Conley Johnson
1912-2006
MOREHEAD - Hazel Grace Conley Johnson, 94, of Morehead, Elliott County, went to be with the Lord Nov. 8 at home after a brief illness. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Lewis and Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook. Burial will be in Elliott County Memorial Gardens.
She was born Nov. 4, 1912 in Barn Rock, Johnson County, a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Dora Meade Conley.
For years she was a member of Point Pleasant Baptist Church in Flat Gap, but since 1994 had been a member of the Elliottville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ova C. Johnson in 2001 and by a stepdaughter Yvonne Fultz in 1998. She was also preceded in death by five brothers: Ray, Herschel, Harold, Conrad and Byron Conley, and by five sisters: Lexie Dixon, Fern Lyon, Merle Fairchild, Florence Meade, and Anna J. Beculhimer.
Surviving are two daughters: Joyce Sue Greene and husband Ernest of Ashland and Janet L. Johnson of Morehead. Also surviving are three granddaughters: Angela L. Greene of Wilder, Stacy Baker and husband Scott of Winchester, and Rachel Williams and husband Robert of Ft. Mitchell, and by a step-grandson, Mike Fultz and wife Michelle of Morehead. In addition, five great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren survive: Conley Baker, Savannah Baker, Madison Williams, Mason Williams, Megan Williams, Mickey Fultz, and Michelle Fultz. One sister, Ruth McKenzie of Flat Gap, also survives, along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and special caregivers, Peggy Layne, Pat Porter, and Sue Cox.
Hazel was a graduate of Morehead State Teachers College and a retired teacher, having taught 50 years, most of which were in Elliott County schools. She was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, a former member of the Elliott County Library Board, and a former secretary of Elliott County Retired Teachers, as well as an election officer for 20 years.
Funeral was Sunday at 2 p.m. with Tim Rhodes, Paul Preston, and Marvin Beculhimer officiating.
Sylvan (Allen) McKinney, Jr
1922-2006
MOREHEAD - Sylvan (Allen) McKinney, Jr., age 83, of Pretty Ridge Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2006, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born December 13, 1922, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Sylvan Ingram McKinney and Mattie Crosthwaite McKinney. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sgt. Henry Clay McKinney, who died during the Korean War, and Edison McKinney; one sister, Irene Pennington; one granddaughter, Rachael McKinney; one grandson, Bradley Dale McKinney; and one great-grandson, Matthew McKinney.
He is survived by four sons: Larry McKinney of Saginaw, Michigan, Gary McKinney of Bucyrus, Ohio, James Darren McKinney and Bradford Wade McKinney, both of Morehead, Kentucky; two daughters: Gale Sheridan of Lexington, Ohio and Sharon Smith of Morehead, Kentucky; four sisters: Gwendolyn Romig, Clara Prosser, and Ruth Stevens, all of Mansfield, Ohio and Naomi O’Hearn of Butler, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Mr. McKinney, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, served from 1943-1946. He served on the USS Amick in the North African area and was the recipient of the European-American Middle Eastern Victory Medal. He was a former self-employed auto mechanic.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Adams and the Rev. Guy McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in the McKinney Family Cemetery with full military rites conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Gary Perry, Josh Perry, Ron O’Conner, Tony Pettit, Steve McKinney, Dan Smith, and Jeff Wallace. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Geraldine Dickerson Ockerman

MOREHEAD - Geraldine Dickerson Ockerman, age 77, of Center Street, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2006, at the Life Care Center in Morehead. She was born June 29, 1929, in Mingo County, West Virginia, and was the daughter of the late George Brooks Dickerson and Cora Black Dickerson.
Mrs. Ockerman is survived by her husband, Ted Ockerman; one stepson, Michael A. Ockerman of Morehead, Kentucky; one sister, Virginia Key of Morehead, Kentucky; and one brother, George Brooks Dickerson of Fairfax, Virginia.
Mrs. Ockerman was a former employee of Thelma’s Day Care and was of the Baptist Faith.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Ison officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Verlan Black, Michael A. Ockerman, Denton Blair, Cass Blair, Derek Malone, and Jimmy Black.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Edna Mae White
1919-2007
OHIO - Edna Mae (née Wilson), born in Morehead, Ky. on February 15, 1919 to the late Joseph and Libbie Wilson, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio. She was the beloved wife of Elmer White for 66-1/2 years. Loving mother of Wanda (Louis) Kaelin and John (Helen) White. Grandmother of Dana (Jason) Morgan and Aaron (Shelley) White. Great-grandmother of Evan and Caleb Morgan, Aaron (A.J.) and Jacob White. Aunt and great-aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews. Sister of Edith Black of Morehead, Ky., Esther Phillips of Centerville, Ohio, Margaret Cline of Lexington, Ohio, Corinne Wilson of Vandalia, Ohio, and the late Edward and Elmer Wilson. She was a member of Primitive Baptist Church of New Burlington, Ohio for over 58 years. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Springdale, Ohio. She will be greatly missed by friends and loved ones but never forgotten.
Vernita McRoberts Anderson

MOREHEAD - Vernita McRoberts Anderson, 93, of Big Brushy Road passed away Friday, October 27, 2006 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
She was born on September 29, 1913 in Rowan County, Kentucky to the late Zachery Taylor McRoberts and Mary Margaret Kiser McRoberts.
Mrs. Anderson was a retired cook having worked at The Eagles Nest, Dixie Grill, Holiday Inn and Mary Jane's Country Kitchen. She was a member of the Church of God and enjoyed quilting, gardening and sewing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Baxter Anderson who passed away in 1985, one son, Eugene Anderson, two daughters, Patricia Anderson and Edith Anderson, five brothers, Charles McRoberts, Dewey McRoberts, Theodore McRoberts, Lindsey McRoberts and Earl McRoberts and three sisters, Hattie Holder, Betty White and Roxie McRoberts.
Survivors include one son, James Anderson and his wife, Dorothy of Dayton, Ohio, three daughters, Wanda McKinney and her husband, Foley of Clearfield, Phyllis Pope and her husband, Gary of Morehead and Peggy Smith and her husband, Wayne of Freemont, California, two brothers, Leo McRoberts of Morehead and Luther ("Larry") McRoberts of Detroit, Michigan, two sisters, Luvetta Conn of Beaver Creek, Ohio and Oleta Salinas of San Antonio, Texas, eight grandchildren, James Anderson, Jerry McBrayer, Michael Bowman, Lisa Pope, Lynn Eldridge, Deborah Duarte, Teresa Adams and Natalie Pope-Smith and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 P.M. Monday, October 30, 2006 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Guy McKenzie and Rev. Jamie Sparks officiating. Burial followed in the McRoberts Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dustin Adams, Tony McKinney, Gary Pennington, Junior Anderson, Eric Oditt and Chuck Adams.
