Charlotte Quillen Carter
1924-2007
MOREHEAD - Charlotte Quillen Carter, age 83, of Timberwood Trail, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 27, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Born August 5, 1924, in Ashland, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Carl Quillen, Sr., and Jeanette Clark Quillen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Warren G. Carter, on December 31, 1994; one daughter, Linda Diane Smith; one son, Timothy Lee Smith; one brother, Carl Quillen, Jr., and one sister, Margaret Quillen Stephens.
Survivors include one son, Michael R. Smith of Morehead, Kentucky; three stepsons, Charles Cline Carter of Salina, Kansas, Warren Grant Carter of Grayson, Kentucky, and Wayne Keith Carter of Flatwoods, Kentucky; five grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a former L.P.N. at hospitals in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and at King’s Daughters Medical Center and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland, Kentucky.
A St. Claire Medical Center Auxiliary volunteer for 14 years, Charlotte donated over 17, 000 hours. She was extremely well known for the crosses she crocheted for newborns, Hospice and I.C.U. patients, and the deceased. She also enjoyed quilting and collecting sewing thimbles. She attended the First Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Starcher officiating. Burial was in New Alfrey Cemetery. Pallbearers were Eddie Carter, Lawrence Maynard, Tony Carter, Lowell Meadows, Richard Peterson, and Dean Henson.
Visitation was Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Carl Edward Coldiron
1934 - 2007
MOREHEAD – Carl Edward Coldiron, 73, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2007 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
He was born on April 14, 1934 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Allie and Mandy Bray Coldiron.
Mr. Coldiron was a retired schoolteacher having taught in the Rowan, Mason and Bracken County School Systems, the Kentucky State Prison System and Woodsbend Boys Camp Alternative High School in West Liberty, Kentucky. He was a United States Army Veteran, a graduate of Morehead State University, a member of the Gearhart Community Church and he enjoyed reading.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Coldiron and Adron Coldiron.
Survivors include two sisters, Daisy Fraley of Elliottville and Mollie Browning of Chillicothe, Ohio, two brothers, David Coldiron of Houston, Texas and Paul Coldiron of Miamisburg, Ohio and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 1, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Clint Kelsey and Rev. Bill Catron officiating. Burial will follow in the Baldridge Cemetery. Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Friday.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Virginia Bowman Keller
1940 - 2007
MOREHEAD – Virginia Bowman Keller, 66, of Fairs Oaks, California, formerly of Rowan County passed away Sunday, August 26, 2007 in the St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
She was born on November 11, 1940 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Herbert and Sarah Elizabeth Roberts Bowman.
Virginia was a technician at an optometric office. She was of the Church of God Faith, a member of the Eastern Star, was caring and kind, charitable, collected angels and enjoyed crafts, animals and birds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, six brothers, Ward Bowman, Farris Bowman, Lloyd Bowman, Billy Bowman, James Bowman and Winford Bowman and one sister, Audrey Burr.
Survivors include five sisters, Clara Conn and Lynne Morel both of Morehead, Lucille Stevens of Lowell, Indiana, Lee Wheeldon of Lafayette, Indiana and Louise Larsen of Muncie, Indiana and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 1, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Gayle Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowman Cemetery. Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Conn, John Wheeldon, Don Lewis, Matthew Lewis, Tommy Stevens and Carlos Bowman.

PRINCETON, Ky. -- Dorris O'Hara, 62, Paducah, formerly of Princeton, died at 12:35 this morning, Oct. 3, 2002, at Lourdes Hospital, Paducah, following a brief illness.

MARTHA F. KIRBY
Martha Frances Bingham Kirby, 69, Cadiz, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn., of natural causes.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Second Baptist Church, Cadiz, with the Rev. C.L. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the church, and visitation with the family will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Cadiz, she was born July 15, 1933, the daughter of the late Jack Bingham Sr. and Mary Young Bingham. Prior to her retirement in 1995, she was employed by the Trigg County School System. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church where she served as treasurer of the choir and was a member of the kitchen committee and usher board. She was a member of the Spiritual 5. Her husband George R. Kirby, preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Eulus Kirby, Cadiz, Dana Kirby, Columbus, Ohio, Kelvin Kirby, Louisville; four daughters, Regina Dillard and Theresa Wilson, both of Cadiz, Georgette Bowens, Nashville, Tenn., Tameka Jackson, Elizabethtown; a stepdaughter, Sharon Williams, Hopkinsville; three brothers, Posey and Alfred Bingham, both of Grand Rapids, Mich., Jerome Bingham, Cadiz; two sisters, Mary Cansler and Deloris Traylor, both of Grand Rapids; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
LEON L. FARMER
Leon Leslie Farmer, 68, Pembroke Road, died at 10:10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at the Pembroke Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Carl Suddeath officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Pembroke. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
A native of Stewart County, Tenn., he was born Sept. 2, 1933, the son of the late Dennis George and Inez Ross Farmer. He was a farmer and school bus driver and had worked in maintenance for the school system. He was a member of the Pembroke Church of Christ. A daughter, Teresa Ann Farmer, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Jean Hightower Farmer; a son, Joe Farmer, Clarksville, Tenn.; a daughter, Sherry Farmer Newcomb, Clarksville; two brothers, Benton Farmer, Michigan, Neal Farmer, Pembroke and three grandchildren.

Cecilia S. Dobbins, 85, St. Cloud, Fla., formerly of Hopkinsville, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, in St. Cloud of natural causes.

Gene Frances, 75, widely-known Hopkinsville musician, died at 7:47 p.m. Thursday at the Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

Services for Ima Lorene Cumbee, 78, Scottsburg, Ind., formerly of Hopkinsville, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 6 tonight.
She died at 4:39 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at Scott Memorial Hospital, Scottsburg, of natural causes.
A native of Todd County, she was born March 17, 1924, the daughter of the late Roger and Faye Rogers Stokes. She had worked for Hopkinsville Clothing. She was a Baptist. A son, David Edward Cumbee, and a daughter, Betty Cumbee Knight Lankford, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Danny O'Neal Cumbee, Scottsburg; a daughter, Sandra Faye Simpson, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Dorris Stokes, Clarksville, Tenn.; two sisters, Ilene Armstrong, Hopkinsville, Margaret Allen, Springfield, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
