STEPHEN H. BAKER
PRINCETON -- Services for Stephen H. Baker, 55, Fredonia, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Morgan's Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Bruce officiating.
Burial will be in Fredonia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 tonight.
He died at 4:15 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center following a brief illness.
A native of Caldwell County, he was born July 15, 1948, the son of the late Clifford Bryant Baker and Mary Jane Brown Baker Thomas. He was a self-employed farmer, plumber and electrician and was a member of the Fredonia Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannie Paris Baker; a son, Matt Baker, Fredonia; three brothers, Edward L. Baker, Fredonia, James B. Baker, Placerville, Calif., William L. Baker, Princeton and four grandchildren.

Dr. Gerald Hughes McCord, 69
HOPKINSVILLE -- Dr. Gerald Hughes McCord, 69, retired Hopkinsville physician and leader in diabetic education and teaching, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at his residence in Evansville, Ind.
His death followed a long illness.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. John B. Ledford officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home, Hopkinsville.
He had practiced medicine in Hopkinsville from 1961 until his retirement in 1998.
A native of Murray, he was born Oct. 21, 1934, the son of the late Joseph Albert and Albateen Burton McCord.
He had left Murray High School after three years to attend the University of Louisville on a scholarship and graduated from the University of Louisville Medical School in 1959.
He was a long-time member and elder of the First Christian Church and was a board member of the Lexington Theological Seminary for 24 years.
He was a past president and active member of the Kentucky Diabetes Association.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Knight McCord; two sons, Dr. David Hughes McCord, Nashville, Dr. Gregory Scott McCord, Newburgh, Ind.; a daughter, Catherine Anne Jackson, Richardson, Texas; two brothers, Fred A. McCord, Madisonville, Donald H. McCord, Murray; a sister, Minnie Jo James, Reidland, and nine grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or to the American Diabetes Association.
JAMES W. SOWELL JR.
HOPKINSVILLE -- James William "Bill" Sowell Jr., 40, Herndon, died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at his home following a long illness.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home, Hopkinsville, with the Rev. Earl Grace officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. Tuesday until time for the service.
A native of Christian County, he was born May 17, 1963, the son of retired Kentucky State Police Trooper J.W. Sowell Sr., Christian County, and Diana Kincaid Brown, Las Vegas, Nev. His grandparents, J.B. and Letha Sowell, with whom he had made his home, preceded him in death.
He was an auto body repairman at Gate 6 Body Shop, Oak Grove.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Laura Sowell; a son, James Ray Sowell, the home; a daughter, Ashley Nicole Sowell, the home and four brothers, Tommy Sowell, the city, Jeff Sowell, Texas, Mike Sowell, Cadiz, and Jack Brown, Las Vegas.

JO N. PHILLIPS
BENTON, Ky. -- Jo Nell Phillips, 67, Benton, died at 6:10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at Pinecrest Nursing Home, Hopkinsville, of natural causes.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Collier Funeral Chapel, Benton, with the Rev. Ken Milkulcik officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall County Memory Gardens, Benton. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was the daughter of the late Earl Thomas and Mary Mosley Nunley and retired as a nurse's aide at the Marshall County Hospital.
She was a member of the St. Leo Catholic Church in Murray. Her husband, Charles "Shorty" Phillips, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Richard Lee "Ricky" Phillips, Newburgh, Ind.; a daughter, Mara Lynne Heckman, Cadiz, and two grandchildren.
HUBERT L. LATHAM
HOPKINSVILLE -- Hubert Leslie Latham, 92, Pembroke, died at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at the Pembroke Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home, Hopkinsville, with the Rev. Ron Hicks officiating. Burial will be in the New Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time for the service.
A native of Kirkmansville, he was born Oct. 17, 1911, the son of the late James Hade and Mary Latham. He was a self-employed electrician.
His wife, Mildred Hardison Latham, died last December. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a Methodist.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Zilpha Hardison, Hopkinsville, Relda Hardison, Pembroke, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

HOPKINSVILLE -- Geneva Moss Killebrew, 78, Hopkinsville, died at 7:35 this morning, Feb. 16, 2004, at the Montgomery County Nursing Home, Clarksville, Tenn., of natural causes.

MARGUERITE HYAMS
TRENTON -- Marguerite Dickinson Hyams, 89, Trenton, died following a long illness at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at the home of a daughter in Trenton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Trenton Baptist Church with the Revs. Dean Anderson and John R. Christian officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 tonight at the Trenton Baptist Church. Cook-Webb Funeral Home, Guthrie, is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Owensboro, she was born July 23, 1914, the daughter of the late William Arch and Gertrude McElwain Dickinson. She had been the secretary for the Trenton Baptist Church and for 25 years served as secretary for the late Dr. J.C. Woodall in Trenton. She was a member of the Trenton Baptist Church.
Her husband, Joe Thomas Hyams, died in 1962. A son, William Phillip Hyams, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, James "Jim" Hyams, Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Carolyn Killebrew, Trenton, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Pennyroyal Hospice or to the Baptist Children's Home.
