Joyce Bronaugh, 47, East First Street, died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 22, 2003, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.

DAISY C. BOYD
CADIZ, Ky. -- Daisy Cunningham Boyd, 96, Cadiz, died at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at Shady Lawn Nursing Center of natural causes.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Goodwin Funeral Home with the Revs. Derrick Norris and O.D. Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Little River Cemetery, Trigg County. Visitation will begin at 4:00 this afternoon.
A native of Trigg County, she was born July 19, 1907, the daughter of the late Dabney and Josephine Cunningham Cunningham. She was a homemaker and the oldest member of Liberty Point Baptist Church. Her husband, Tom Boyd, died in 1984. Two sons, Norris and Dalton Boyd, and a daughter, Alene Gray, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a sister, Rissie Chowning, Versailles, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Betty Jean Wagstaff Hartman
OWINGSVILLE - Betty Jean Wagstaff Hartman, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 9, 2007.
She was surrounded by her family and friends. Her positivity of life gave strength to those around her. She was a devoted wife for 56 years, a homemaker, and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was an inspiration with her positive thinking and helping all to endure life’s hard ways.
Mrs. Hartman was preceded in death by her parents, John James and Edith Cora Wagstaff, brothers Richard, Robert and Gary Wagstaff and Arthur Krauss, and sisters Edith Pearl Davis and Phyllis Dickens.
Survivors include her husband, Stephen Hartman of Owingsville, KY; 2 sons, Charles and Timothy Hartman, both of Owingsville, KY; 4 daughters, Patricia Hartman of Owingsville, KY, Sandra Burke of Morehead, KY, Christine Henne of Owingsville, KY and Wendy Barron of Broadhead, KY; 9 grandchildren, Sean Holbert, Melissa McCarty, Riley Lowe, Jr., Travis Lowe, Sheila Lowe, Brenda Henne, Justin Henne, Matthew Brooks and Jennifer Brooks; 7 great-grandchildren, Hunter Holbert, Taylor McCarty, Wyatt McCarty, Skylar Lowe, Tye Lowe, Araya Lowe and Sheala Brooks; several sons-in-law and grandchildren’s spouses; 4 brothers, Donald Wagstaff of Owego, NY, Wilson Wagstaff of Candor, NY, Arnold Wagstaff of Apalachin, NY and Harold Krauss of Elmira, NY; 1 sister, Linda Brink of Barton, NY. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Betty loved to travel, seeing family and friends and the lovely countryside. She loved cooking for others, crafting, gardening, reading, cooking shows, and musical entertainment. She spent her last days bringing rainbows of color into everyone’s lives. She expressed a great appreciation to those who aided in her care giving, aides, doctors, nurses and her friends at St. Claire Home Health and Hospice and Bath County Library. Betty’s love and friendship will be deeply missed.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, March 14 at the Midland First Church Of God, with hospice chaplain Mary Jo Prater officiating and under the direction of Powell Funeral Home of Salt Lick.
Mrs. Hartman’s family wishes to thank all those who contributed with labors of love to meet the care needs of Betty Jean Wagstaff Hartman.
Kathleen (Kathy) Mills Murphy
1942-2007
MOREHEAD - Kathleen (Kathy) Mills Murphy, age 64, of Hope Hill Road, Flemingsburg, Kentucky, formerly of Morehead, passed away Monday, June 18, 2007, at the Fleming County Hospital in Flemingsburg. Born December 29, 1942, in Lansing, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Otus Eugene Mills and Winifred (Winnie) Gorton Mills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny Lietzke and Russell Mills.
Survivors include one son, Jerett Gieseler of New York City; three daughters, Jennifer Duke of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, Melody Robach of Jenison, Michigan, and Michele Hoffman of Nashville, Michigan; two sisters, Barbara White and Sally Dodson, both of Morehead, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Hoffman, Brandon Hoffman, Tyler Robach, Haley Robach, Sally Robach, Matt Brumm, Scott Duke, and Amanda Duke; one great-grandchild, Mykaela Scurlock; and a special friend, Milton Hamilton.
Kathy was an employee of Harold White Lumber Company for 24 years, was a board member of the Morehead 4-H Council for a number of years, and was a graduate of a cosmetology school in Battle Creek, Michigan. She served as pianist at the Flemingsburg First Church of God.
Private graveside services will be conducted at the Bosworth Cemetery in Olivet, Michigan. Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals is caring for arrangements.
Mia Addison Roberts

MOREHEAD - Mia Addison Roberts, daughter of Rachel Patrick and Ian Roberts of J Black Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away at birth on Monday, June 18, 2007, at the Mary Chiles Hospital in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.
In addition to her parents, Mia is survived by one sister, Brooklyn Patrick, at home; maternal grandparents, David Stone and Sarah Patrick Stone of Morehead, Kentucky; paternal grandparents, Tim Roberts of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Robyn Goodpaster Gray and husband Rick of Owingsville, Kentucky; paternal great-grandparents, Gilmore and Bonnie Purvis Roberts of Owingsville, Kentucky, and Regina Baker Goodpaster of Berea, Kentucky, and Ronnie Goodpaster of Lexington, Kentucky.
Graveside services were conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007, at Stone Cemetery in Elliott County, Kentucky, with the Rev. Chuck Lees officiating. Visitation was Thursday, June 21, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
James A. “Bo” Royse
1965-2007
MOREHEAD – James A. “Bo” Royse, 42, of U.S. 60 East passed away Thursday, June 14, 2007 in the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was born on March 9, 1965 in Morehead, Kentucky to Phyllis Porter Royse and the late Versal Royse.
Bo was a former equipment operator for Queen City Railroad, enjoyed riding motorcycles and being with family and friends and he was of the Church of God Faith.
Survivors include his mother, Phyllis Porter Royse of Morehead, three daughters, Catessa Royse Terrell, Kisha Dawn Royse and Jamie Royse all of Morehead, one son, Isaac Perry Royse of Morehead, one brother, Versal Royse, Jr. of Salt Lick, two sisters, Melinda Lawhorn of Salt Lick and Janet Sue Madden of Morehead, one grandson, Aaron Michael Terrell and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, June 18, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Elijah Wagoner officiating. Burial was in the Williams-Turner Cemetery at Elliottville.
Pallbearers were Michael Madden, Josh Royse, Virgil Porter, Mitch Ross, Joe Ed Porter, Melvin Lawhorn and Brady Madden.
Dr. Mohammed K. Sabie
1929-2007
MOREHEAD - Dr. Mohammed K. Sabie, 77, Morehead State University professor emeritus and former Eagle soccer coach, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead of an apparent heart attack.
Born December 25, 1929, in Baghdad, Iraq, to the late Sabie K. Khamis and Fakhrya Abdulla Khamis, he was one of eleven children.
In his youth, Dr. Sabie was a prominent athlete in Iraq, setting records and achieving national recognition in soccer, basketball, and track and field.
Upon his arrival to the United States in 1953, he attended Columbia University’s language program prior to enrolling in Florida Southern College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree. He also received a master’s and a doctorate from Peabody College/Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Sabie and his wife, whom he met at Peabody, came to Morehead in 1963. He started the soccer program at MSU and was the Eagle soccer coach for over 20 years. Dr. Sabie retired from MSU in 2001 after 37 years of teaching and coaching.
Dr. Sabie was the author of two textbooks on the teaching and coaching of soccer and was an international authority on the sport, having served as an Olympic coach. He participated in nine different Olympiads.
He was inducted into MSU’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000 and into Florida Southern College Hall of Fame in 2007. Dr. Sabie was also the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Service to Humanity by the Florida Southern College Alumni Association in 1981.
Following retirement, Dr. Sabie was instrumental in promoting youth soccer throughout the region. He was also an avid golfer and tennis player and participated in the Bluegrass State Games badminton tournament.
A person who believed “education was the key to success, ” Dr. Sabie advanced this philosophy to everyone, particularly his family. He loved the Morehead community and enjoyed world travel, but his family was his greatest treasure.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Dr. Layla Bayatti Sabie, also a retired MSU professor. Other survivors include one son, Kaldoon Sabie of Hollywood, Florida; two daughters, Mona Womack of Lexington, Kentucky, and Sheda King of Hendersonville, North Carolina; three brothers, Jabbar Sabie of Baghdad, Iraq, Dr. Ahmed Sabie of Louisville, Kentucky, and Saad Sabie of Corona, California; one sister, Fattma Asker of Baghdad, Iraq; and eight grandchildren, Mia and Noah King; Spencer, Nadia, Nikki and Lucas Sabie; and Mason and Casey Womack.
A service will be held at 12 noon Friday, June 22, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with family and friends officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday, June 22, 2007, from 10 a.m. until noon at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Karen Margaret Telford
1956-2007
MOREHEAD - Karen Margaret Telford, age 51, of Willow Lane, Wellington, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, following a long illness.
She was born March 7, 1956, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is the daughter of Doris Kabler Telford of Morehead, Kentucky, and the late George W. Telford. In addition to her mother, she is survived by two half sisters, Patricia Ruscher of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Nancy Edwards of Franklin, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
Karen graduated high school from Villa Madonna Academy in Crescent Springs, Kentucky; attended Maysville Community College receiving a degree in Art; and graduated from Morehead State University, magda cum laude, earning a bachelor and masters degree in art. She was honored as guest commencement speaker at her undergraduate commencement.
She taught in MSU’S Art Department as an adjunct instructor before venturing into a co-op run art gallery business, “The Imaginatrium.”
From the onset of illness, she developed a keen interest in therapeutic values of art, and became an outspoken advocate for healing arts programs, believing its viability.
In recent years, she curated a “Healing Arts Exhibition, ” combining her work with works by friends whose art expressed the power of coping with illness. The exhibit was shown in galleries in eastern Kentucky and southern Ohio over a three-year period.
Karen was an active supporter of arts in the community and was a member of the Cave Run Arts Association. In recent years, she has received grants and awards for creativity in photography.
She had a great love of Arabian Horses with 25 years of breeding and raising the beautiful animals. She acquired her first purebred Arabian stallion at the age of 16.
There is no visitation. Memorials are suggested to The Lymphoma and Leukemia Cancer Society.
