Jack Baldridge
1940-2007
MOREHEAD - Jack Baldridge, age 67, of U.S. 60 West, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born July 11, 1940, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Clarence and Bethel Staggs Baldridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Kautz, on September 13, 1990, and one son, Craig Baldridge, on April 20, 2006.
Jack is survived by his wife, Barb Baldridge, whom he wed September 26, 1996; one daughter, DaNita McKenzie and husband Tony, and one son, Joe Baldridge and wife Paula, all of Morehead; two stepsons, Roger Barnes and wife Crystal and Mike Barnes and wife Beth, all of Elizabethtown, Indiana; four grandchildren, Kana Salyers, Bethany, Karli, and Emily Baldridge; three step-grandchildren, Steven, Joshua and Nash Barnes; two great-grandchildren, Aven and Myli Salyers; and two sisters, Sue Alley and Hannah White, both of Morehead.
Also surviving are these children so lovingly cared for by “Mamaw Barb” and “Papaw Jack”: Emily and Braden Hammonds; Jacob and Kendall McDaniel; Christina and Samantha Grimes; Holly Dickens; Cole Fannin; Maci Manning; Natalie, Alexandria and Victoria Northcutt; and Jackson Pierce.
Jack graduated from Morehead High School in 1958. A member of the high school band, he was proud to have marched in President Eisenhower’s Inaugural Parade. He was also a graduate of an auto-diesel technical college in Nashville, Tennessee. An employee of Spring Grove Dairy for 31 years, he retired from Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals after 15 years of service.
He was a member and past master of Phelps Masonic Lodge No. 482 and a member of El Hasa Shrine. He was one of the original founders of the Morehead Jaycees. An avid knife collector, Jack was a member of the Central Kentucky Knife Club and the Case Collectors Club. He was a member of the Bluebank Church of God, where he served nine years as President of the Church Board.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Fannin, Rev. Richard Engle, Rev. Clarke Thomas and Rev. Vernon Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the Baldridge Cemetery on U.S. 60 West.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Knapp, Tom Woods, Kenny McDaniel, Mathew Dickens, Greg Alley, and John Northcutt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leo Williams, Larry Brown, John Mynhier, Vernon Barber, Marion Crawford, Mort Campbell, Lynden Stevens, Ken Mullins, and Denny Northcutt.
Visitation is after 3 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday by Phelps Masonic Lodge No. 482.

Charles Russell Littleton
1927-2007
MOREHEAD - Charles Russell Littleton, age 79, a 29-year resident of the Life Care Center in Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Mr. Littleton was born August 12, 1927, in Mason County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Earl and Flora Cordray Littleton. Following the death of his mother when he was two years old, Mr. Littleton was raised by his grandmother, Lue Ritchie Cordray; an aunt, Lizzie Cordray; and an uncle, Ray Cordray, all of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by many cousins, as well as a stepmother, Belle Littleton, and half brother, Donald Littleton, of Wichita Falls, Texas.
Mr. Littleton was a member of the Orangeburg Methodist Church for many years, but embraced all church denominations that came to the Life Care Center, often serving as song leader and lay preacher when needed. He was made a Life Care Center Chaplain last year. Mr. Littleton proudly served as President of the Resident Council at Life Care Center for many years. He was active in volunteering his time to help others living at the Center.
Visitation will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2007, with a funeral immediately following at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lansford May and the Rev. Lloyd Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Fleming County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice or the charity of choice.

Raymond “Red” Walker
1934 – 2007
MOREHEAD – Raymond “Red” Walker, 72, of Farmers passed away Sunday, July 22, 2007 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was born on September 16, 1934 in Floyd County, Kentucky, a son of the late Homer Ray and Gertie Delores Stevens Walker.
Mr. Walker was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the United Mine Workers and enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising a garden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Donald Walker, one daughter, Dianna Gore, two brothers, Harold Glen Walker and Bill Walker and one sister, Annette Mills.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah Sparkman Walker, whom he married
on December 31, 1953, of Farmers, one son, David Walker and his wife, Chelia of Weeksbury, Kentucky, two daughters, Deborah Walker of Farmers and Delanna Caraway and her husband, David of Winslow, Arizona, son-in-law, James Gore of Fairfield, Ohio, one brother, Clifford Walker of South Milford, Indiana, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 25, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Barkley Slone officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery at Midland. Visitation is after 7:00 P.M. Monday and anytime Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Col. (ret.) Earl R. Bradley
MOREHEAD - Col. (ret.) Earl R. Bradley, 89, of Washington, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2007, following a lengthy illness.
Born May 3, 1918, in Morehead, Kentucky, Col. Bradley retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1965 with a distinguished service record in the South Pacific during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and at the Pentagon in the Ballistics, Missiles and Space divisions. He served as a night fighter pilot, piloting the P61 Black Widow night fighter with former Georgia poet laureate, James Dickey, as his radar observer. Among his service honors was the Air Force Medal of Commendation awarded him for writing the format for the Air Force Dynamo System.
Valedictorian of the Morehead High School class of 1939, Col. Bradley attended Morehead State University until being called to serve in World War II. Following his retirement in 1965, he earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and pursued a master’s degree there in Ornamental Horticulture.
A lifelong student of both the natural and social sciences, Col. Bradley started a nursery in Wilkes County, from which he retired, and held patents on several of his inventions. He also developed and taught Junior ROTC (Reserve Officer’s Training Corp) in Jesup and Forest Park, Georgia. He was a prolific poet and essayist and wrote a column for the weekly “News Reporter” in Wilkes County, Georgia. He especially took joy in learning to play the tenor guitar after age 65.
Preceded in death by his son, Douglas Earl, his beloved Newell (nee Moon) and dear Margaret (nee Clark), he is survived by his sister Vernita Becker, Washington, Georgia, and brother William E. Bradley, Morehead, Kentucky, grandson Clayton Bradley, Portland, Oregon, granddaughter Jessica Bradley, Los Angeles, California, and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him.
Visitation is Tuesday, July 31, 2007, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hopkins Funeral Home, Washington, Georgia. Services 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at the funeral home.
Memorial donations are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation.
Johnny Melvin Burton
1931-2007
MOREHEAD - Johnny Melvin Burton, age 76, of North Blair Avenue, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg, Kentucky.
Born July 25, 1931, in Floyd County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Bill and Iva Lee Burton. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Elvnia Burton; two great-grandsons, Hayden Dean Spivey and Michael Gene Jolly; and one brother, Bill Burton.
He is survived by seven sons, John Paul Burton of Columbus, Georgia, Clyde Melvin Burton of Lexington, Kentucky, John Wesley Burton of Menifee County, Kentucky, Floyd Dee Burton of Fleming County, Kentucky, Eddie Dean Burton, of Lexington, Kentucky, Woody Albert Burton of Morehead, Kentucky, and Richard Wayne Burton of Clearfield, Kentucky; 3 daughters, Janet Louise Benton of Fleming County, Kentucky, and Rebecca Lynn Burton and Roseanna Elvnia Burton; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Johnny was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and an employee of Local Sanitation for 35 years.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bro. Herbie Stallard officiating. Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery with full military rites conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Richard Burton and grandsons served as pallbearers.
Visitation was Sunday, July 29, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Edna Mae Bush
LEXINGTON - Edna Mae Bush, 67, of Lexington passed away Saturday. A memorial is scheduled today at the Central Christian Church in Lexington. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the church.
Wilburn R. Moore
1942-2007
MOREHEAD - Wilburn R. Moore, age 65, of Lexington, formerly of Oak Grove Road, Morehead, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2007, in the Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born March 27, 1942, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he is the son of Elsie Conn Moore of Morehead and the late Charles “Clella” Moore. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Cheryl Beckelhymer Moore; one son, Jeffrey Moore of Tampa Florida; one daughter, Lori Sloan of Morehead, Kentucky; two step-daughters, Lisa (Harold) Lamb of Lexington, Kentucky, and Kristy (Stephen) Hughes of Bryantsville, Kentucky; three brothers, Jesse Franklin Moore, Charles Moore, and Sidney Moore, all of Morehead, Kentucky; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Besides his father, one grandchild, John Morgan, preceded him in death.
He retired from International Harvesters in Springfield, Ohio, where he was an employee for 30 years. Following his retirement, he was a school bus driver for Rowan County schools for several years. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1963-69 and was a member of the Slab Camp Christian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Charles Moore and Rev. Herbie Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Crix Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jack Catron, Harold Lamb, Stephen Hughes, Kenny Thornsberry, Herman Mabry, and nephews Todd Moore and Kyle Moore.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Bertha Jones Wallace
1936-2007
MOREHEAD - Bertha Jones Wallace, age 71, of Upper Lick Fork, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. She was born February 9, 1936, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of Lola Gregory Jones of Clearfield, Kentucky, and the late Millard Jones.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Henry Cleveland Wallace; two sons, James Wallace and Donna and Anthony Wallace and Sherry, of Clearfield, Kentucky; four brothers, Eugene Jones, Cleo Jones, Glenn Jones, and Clarence Jones, of Clearfield, Kentucky; one sister, Letha Cox of Morehead, Kentucky; four granddaughters, Crystal Derrickson, Amie Adkins, Kayla Wallace, and Kindra Wallace; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Lynn Derrickson and Cainan James Kegley; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wallace was a homemaker, a former employee of Cox’s Fruit Market, and a member of Slab Camp Christian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Herbie Lewis, Rev. Carlos Bowman, and Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery on Jones Ridge.
